Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft

This place is extremely organized and neat! I see reviews from the past that state otherwise, but the store is a pleasure to shop in now. All the employees were super friendly and helpful! This is my new favorite Joann’s in Northern Virginia!

Employees are always very friendly and helpful. They dedicate time to each and every shopper. I consistently see them picking up aisles, organizing cloth and cleaning up (last night they organized two aisles and swept behind the counter while I was there).
Decent selection of fleece, fabrics and yarn. Good prices and frequent sales — not to mention, staff usually provide customers with coupons. Have been going for years and will continue to do so! :)

HEPATITIS C ANYONE???
Came in here looking for some snap fastener pliers. Found them in the back of the store on a hanger and went to take them off the shelf and immediately felt a stinging pain in my ring finger. I screamed and threw down the pliers and looked at my finger and my blood was SQUIRTING ALL OVER THE PLACE ! I pinched my finger to clear the blood so I could see what the wound looked like and to my HORROR, I had a TWO-​INCH GASH along the underside of my finger!
I carefully picked up the package and found that the item had actually been OPENED and that these people had just stapled the packaging back together with a HEAVY-​DUTY STAPLER (you know the kind that have sharp points so they can puncture 150+ pages of paper?) and put it back on the shelf — BUT I GUESS THEY MISSED THE FACT THAT ONE OF THE STAPLES DIDN’T CLOSE !!!
I went yelling up to the counter and showed the two ladies working their my finger, and they just gave each other a dumb look. Then one of them finally said «Would you like a bandaid?» So I just grabbed a piece of fabric on my way out and wrapped it around my finger and drove to emergency care.
So just BE CAREFUL if you do go in this place — dried blood could be anywhere — LIKE ON THE STAPLE THAT CUT ME, WAITING FOR THE NEXT POOR SOUL TO COME ALONG.

This Sterling store needs to go to Leesburg and get schooled!
The store is a mess. All the bolts in the isles are unwound and thrown back on the shelf. Some are on the ground below the racks. It’s impossible to just browse the rows. Don’t dare go down the clearance isle, it’s an OCD’s worse nightmare.
Customer service needs help too. You have to ring a bell to get your fabric cut and you have to ring it again to get checked out.
They spent a lot of time recently to rearrange the store, they should have used that time to work on cleaning and customer service!

Until my most recent visit, I would have agreed with the reviews posted. But when I went with my teenage daughter to obtain numerous fabric samples for different types of clothing with regard to a fashion marketing class project, the saleswomen could not have been more helpful. Mauna took us around the store, pointing out the various types of fabric that were appropriate for each item my daughter had on her list and she saved us an enormous amount of time and made some insightful comments. Lisa cut and rang up our fabrics, all the while working efficiently while being extremely pleasant. Most of the girls from my daughter’s class had been into the store or were coming in so both ladies had both been through this a number of times. Yet, they were cheerful and efficient. Kudos to Jo-Ann’s for hiring these two gems. Deborah Y.

Repeatedly bad customer service. Yesterday I arrived at the checkout counter to find no one there. I could see four employees in other areas of the store and even made eye contact with two, but they actually turned and walked the other way. No more chances for this store! I’m making the longer drive to Fairfax from now on.

Need to replace all the staff!!!
It was stupid of me to re-​attempt this store again after so many horrible visits. Just yesterday, I bought 4 pieces of fabrics 5 yards each and the damn cutter cut only 4 yards each. I’ve complained many times to the manager but there isn’t any point. The manager is just as horrible when it comes to customer service.

Terrible customer service, staff has little knowledge of products. Placed large items on hold for purchase at register because they were too big to fit in their tiny carts. Manager sold the items with no apology. Shop at Artee fabrics in Sterling instead or G Street in Centreville. I would even prefer to shop at the Walmart fabric section in Sterling. JoAnns is my last resort.

I’m kinda surprised by the less-​than-​stellar reviews for this place. I much prefer it to the one in Sterling.
The employees are really friendly and helpful. And the fabric selection seems better here (more hip and fun) than at other locations. I dig it, since it’s the best fabric store in the DC area (unless I’m seriously out of the loop.)

My trip to Jo-​ann was tiring.
You can’t relax while you purchase your things.
When I was paying for my items at the cashier, my sister suddenly had to do an errand for the cashier. She was asked to go to the back of the store and check the prices of an item, and that item did not have to do with anything we were buying. Actually, the cashier was picked up the phone and I do think that the price of that item was the answer.
So the moral of this is that when you shop here, you gotta keep eyes opened. NEVER BE RELAXED!!!

Not my favorite Joanns at all. It’s poorly set up, and always seems less than clean and disorganized. The employees are nice enough, but totally overworked, and I’ve spent upwards of 45 minutes waiting for my fabric to be cut — more than once. Now that my town has a Joann’s, I hopefully will never have to go back.
