Though the doctor(s) should be the main focus of this review, in a medical practice I strongly believe the support, nurses, and administrative staff play a major role in patient interaction. They prep, test, and administer most of the treatments. When you are ill, nervous, or scared, they are your primary contact there and most likely you’ll see more of them than your doctor. So, the front desk and billing staff are nice. The nurses are no nonsense and do their part. My major gripe is with the allergy shot nurse. A big part of an allergy practice. She’s a much older lady with gray pixie short hair. I totally understand that she has to «process» people’s shots quickly. Adults in the waiting room complain about her painful administering of shots. Voice a question or concern about the shots and the response will be an irritated look followed by a curt terse response as if to say,“so what do you want me to do about it!!!” For example, I asked if a certain type of reaction is common or normal… she sighs and throws her hands up. Keep in mind one has to stay 30 min. after the shot and let her know if you do have a reaction. One simple question — really? That’s who I have to talk to about it? The one thing she does all day and looks like she’s been doing for some time and can’t address patients in a professional decent manner? Does it hurt to crack even a half smile? Whenever kids go up for their shots, sometimes they cry or you can see how anxious they are, adults alike. She just stands there and doesn’t even try to explain the process or just be nice. Not once have I heard a kind word from her. Even to crying little kids. And I have to say that all these children are already being quite brave in going through these long and tough treatments. She’s the only allergy shot nurse we’ve seen in the Sterling, VA office. My child who’s had all sorts of injections due to his condition and been through extensive acupuncture treatments, has never complained before but has developed high anxiety towards the treatment shots. My child still needs to get shots from her, and I don’t want her to hold it against my kid so I’ve not mentioned it to the office. Also seems like she’s been there for some time so I doubt they’ll do much about it. I hope they can get someone else who can show more empathy and be gentler with the shots. Dr. Loria is knowledgeable and has been on point on his diagnosis of my child’s allergy issues so far. He will take the information given by you and make a diagnosis to fit you. Not just a plan for a general condition. I’ve taken my child to other allergists, and they have offered nothing but textbook treatments. The only problem with Dr. Loria is that he’s always booked solid almost a month or two ahead and if there’s a pressing problem we end up seeing his partner Dr. Blair. She’s a very sweet lady. There are always new medical findings and information which may help in customizing a better treatment plan for different individuals and that’s where Dr. Loria. steps in.

We love Dr. Loria! He is outstanding — and VERY good with our kids. His office staff is nice enough, and his office is small but comfy. His patience and bedside manner with the kids is very welcome. One of our kids had a stubborn allergic problem that has taking well over a year to troubleshoot. Dr. Loria and his nursing staff have been there for our kid and even helped troubleshoot non-allergic problems, including getting us a referral to another practice for a related issue. I see the previous reviewer, but all I can respond with is that over the 1 – 2 years we’ve worked with Dr. Loria, we have never been less than extremely happy with him & his staff. Yes… paperwork redos are annoying, but that’s not the core of his practice.

I made an appointment with them for my son’s potential allergies. I just cancelled it, after the receptionist told me on the phone that at the first appointment, they’ll do the skin prick test on my son(age 8), even if I do not consent.
