The food was astoundingly delicious. But next time I will order to take out. The noise level was awful – loud crisp noise. Even when I removed my hearing aids, it was so loud my friend and I couldn’t comfortably talk. It was full, but not jammed. I hope they revamp their acoustics; it’s a pretty place with excellent food, but too loud.

El Jefe was not slammed tonight when we went, but it was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves think. This is because the room is a resonant brick box. It also may be because we are old fogies(mid 30s). The prices are insane for what you get. For ceviche y tacos, these are fine dining prices. What you get is not fine, though it is edible and relatively healthy. The ceviche had no flavor but the fish was good. The frozen margarita was weak and bland, and I was given a coffee-stirrer straw to drink it with. The salad was just arugula tossed with jicama and cheese with a bizarre corn/quinoa mix on the side, which was strangely warm. We ate it, but wondered why it cost so much. Also, the salad was served with dinner forks. I know it’s a small complaint, but the little touches count when you’re paying for them. The tacos were good, but just about any taco truck in SoCal serves better for a quarter of the price. The staff is very nice and attentive. I think this place is depending a lot on looking hip, and trying to charge too much for a menu that needs less flash, more substance, and más SABOR!!!

He got this one wrong I’m so disappointed in this. When I heard it was a Mexican restaurant I was excited then I get there the hostes was rude and the price you pay is outrageous for what you get. dont waste your money Macdonald is better and that is saying alot from me.

Alright so I’m torn. I loved Father Fats and Christians so I had super high hopes for this place and while things were good they weren’t great. First off it’s a good location and décor was awesome. Trendy place that has a good vibe. Like Fats inside but still all its own. The food was well, the disappointing part. I know I came when they first opened so I hope it was just getting started thar can be blamed. First the tacos are on the high side for price point. I live in Milwaukee and don’t even have to pay that much for good ones and was a little shocked at it. Second the flavor of the tacos just wasn’t there. I had the el pastor, hipster, and fish and can say I only thought the el pastor was good. The others lacked flavor and the fish just didn’t have any flavor what-so-ever. I expected the slaw to add some crunch as the fish didn’t have any itself and it just was more soggy than anything without any substance. I expect a fish with some more crispness to it and the slaw to give it either some bite(vinegar based) or some creaminess but it didn’t do either. The drinks however as always stole the show for me and was the highlight. I can say I will probably come back however I do hope it has improved when I do. I feel there just needs to be a clear focus on the quality of the food and keeping it simple will make it stand out from the other Mexican places in point.

We have been to their sister restaurant Father Fats many times so decided to check out this place. It has a great atmosphere(albeit a bit loud) with the old brick walls of the original building. The menu has plates to share and then small individual taco choices. This is not your typical taco place so don’t expect the standard fare. The food was delicious and the waitstaff helpful and very pleasant. We will definitely be back.

I am from Chicago, and have never seen even the best taco places charge $ 5 a taco. The prices charged at this restaurant are delusional. They’re charging 3 times what a GREAT taco place in a major city charges, and nickel-and-diming customers for things like salsa? No, thank you. Insane.

Best mexican food I’ve ever had. Lived in San Diego for 5 years so I believe the opinion holds some weight. If you are a big eater you’ll need to be a big spender but it’s worth it.

I was not happy nor would i ever go back. The menu is confusing. Apparently a section of the menu is intended for sharing. Not sure. Very pricey. Seriously $ 4 for taco; just a taco. If you want salsa it is additional $ 1. No rice or beans with that $ 4 taco. I have gone to tons of taco stands were the food was amazing. Everything i had was sweet. I paid $ 100 for 3 people which is what i paid at Pinewood Super Club with appetizer of escargot and prime rib dinner. Our waitress was very sweet but had no clue about the menu. There are no busers so be patient as the waitress does everything while 3 people stand behind the bar doing nothing. Go something else.

Went here on a Friday night around 7, we waited at the bar for about 15 minutes before our table was ready. I ordered the Jalapeño-Cilantro margarita, it was really good, but incredibly spicy. My friend and I split an order of the empanadas of the day, which was stuffed with cranberry, almonds and chicken. They were great. We each got 3 different tacos to try, I ordered the«Hipster taco,» «baby octopus taco,» and«chicharones.» All three were fantastic, but the Hipster was definitely my favorite. The tacos were all priced around $ 5, so the prices here are really quite reasonable. Can’t wait to come back and try some other dishes!

I so very much wanted to like this place, but didn’t meet my expectations. We LoVE Father Fats so we were excited to try the new Mexican place by the same owner. So we went for my birthday. We order the house margarita and it was small and just average, not a $ 6 margarita. Not a craft cocktail like you get at Father Fats. Then it took 20 min before out waitress came back. We tried giving her the head nod 3 – 4 times and she just kept walking by, finally my husband had to flag her down and let her know we were ready to order. She apologized«sorry I’ve never ever done this before, I thought I took your order.». The manager did come over and apologized also and said they’d rush out order(not the point, we were out for an enjoyable evening and didn’t want to rush, just looking for a fine dining experience) She was very inattentive the rest of the dinner too. We ordered chips & guac, 3 different tacos, and the quesadilla. The chips and quac tasted store bought. After eating in Minneapolis at a high end Mexican restaurant the week before where they made table side guac I was hoping for something similar here, but no such luck. The tacos were very small and I think because of that very bland with no real flavor coming through. The pork belly taco was the tastiest of the 3, would prefer a larger portion plate of that one. Short rib Quesadilla was just ok and had quite a few fatty pieces of meat. I ordered the brownie for my bday dessert and it was good. I will say very cool ambiance in the place but unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be going back, will stick with Father Fats of we are looking to spend that much on a night out — much better drinks, food, and service.

I was really looking forward to eating here after hearing about this place from my family in Wisconsin. The menu is exciting looking. The drink menu is even more exciting. My tamarind was awesome and I drank it quickly, then followed up by the 5 rabbits, which was a great. My pozole was alright, maybe too spicy, and could have had some pork maybe. The tacos though. Watch out. This was the worst al pastor I’ve ever had, and if you can’t do an al pastor, you probably shouldn’t be serving tacos. The carnitas was kind of ruined by my experience with the al pastor. Too much tortilla. No flavor in the meat. Nothing to make up for it. I think there is potential here. Like, whoever is in charge of the menu is trying, and unwise them luck… But to have spent $ 72 on food and drink, and then have to leave hungry is kind of disappointing. I could go on, but I’m still tipsy from the drinks, and that’s weird because I’m usually way more positive about food when I’ve had a bit to drink.

New places in Stevens Point are always fun to sample. Not having sat at the bar I cannot comment on the skill of the bartenders. I did enjoy the margarita and most of what I had for dinner. Nice flavor — a departure from Taco Bell! Service was very slow — why does it take more than a few moments to get another margarita? The room is very noisy — poor acoustic choices. I did like the industrial décor– simple and uncluttered.

Having just opened with minimal signage, the extremely busy entry way and long wait are very good signs. The atmosphere here is very hip, hard to believe you are sitting across the street from Galaxy Hobby in Stevens Point. The dinner we had was amazing as it stayed in the zone of the traditional zone yet took everything to the next level. I had the yucca balls with beans and rice. My daughter ate all the fish in my fish taco but the tortilla and cabbage were pretty plain without the fish. I ate most of the tostadas my wife ordered. She wasn’t even mad. The atmosphere was bustling and exciting, the community coming out to try the new best Mexican food around. Looking forward to my next visit.

A great addition to downtown from the owner of Father Fats(across the street) and Christian’s Bistro. I’d say it’s slightly more casual than Fats and definitely more casual than Christian’s. I recommend a reservation as even 3 days in there was a nearly hour wait at 6PM. We killed time at the bar at Father Fats. The Margarita Tropicale was quite good — the poblano salt gives it a bit of a kick, and along with the homemade sour elevates it above your run of the mill margarita. But what really stole the show was the Central Waters Peruvian Morning — served 8 oz at a time in a snifter. Thick, rich, slightly sweet, and amazingly delicious, when asked which of the salsas we liked the best it was this limited-run stout that got the nod. I downed my Tropicale and made a beeline for the Peruvian Morning. The Queso Fundido and the Roasted Pork Nachos did not disappoint — they paired well with all of the $ 1 salsas and Guacamole that we tried. The tacos are served on doubled corn tortillas — prices are per taco. I enjoyed my shrimp taco — substituted for the crispy fish tonight — as they didn’t drown it in cabbage as most places do. The pork belly was delicious, and I was jealous of my dining companion’s full taco. I only snagged a taste. But the Al Pastor taco let us both down — its grilled pineapple not redeeming the lack of the signature spicy sauce that defines the best Al Pastor. We took home a 4 bite sized piece of Tres Leches cake — it was a perfect ending to a great meal that we enjoyed immensely. I look forward to coming back soon and devouring the rest of the menu.
