I love Fats and prob went here at least once a week when I lived in Point. I personally love the food and think for Point it’s pretty creative and has a ton of flavor. Also the use of unique and fresh ingredients IMO makes the price worth it. Honestly the drinks are some of the best in Point and I would say better than a lot of places I’ve been to in bigger cities. The French is by far my favorite and everyone else who has tried it loves it. For food the menu does change but some items you’ll see more often then others. Personally the lettuce wraps, deep fried green beans, steak medallions, chicken & waffles, and the deserts are the best. The only item I’ve ever had I didn’t care for was oysters and that was due to them being covered with bacon and cheese and found it rather an odd texture thing I couldn’t do. The décor I think is cool. While yeah it might be loud I personally have never had a problem holding a convo with a group of friends and eating outside is a nice treat to enjoy the little summer we get.

1÷23÷16 American style Tapas. Everything was great. 4 Plates for 2 people, plus a small dessert each. We did not order any alcohol…$ 50 each included tip. Well worth the money. Each plate was excellent. This is an oasis in Northern Wisconsin. Go there.

This restaurant would thrive in any metropolitan area. The folks of Stevens Point are extremely fortunate to have this type of establishment. If you want large portions this isn’t the place to visit. Rather, the focus is on quality ingredients, texture and flavor. Simply put, this is how food should be. Take the time to truly taste what’s going on in your mouth when you eat this food. The only drawback is how ungodly LOUD the place is due to the cement and glass. While there is a long strip of fabric on the ceiling to somewhat muffle the noise, they would benefit by bringing in a decorator to cobtunue work on this issue. We will be back.

Atmosphere: The inside décor is really neat! Very modern take with some added softness. It’s a fun place to eat but it’s also quite small inside so even if the place is half full, it can get quite loud. Food: It’s a tapas style restaurant — so small morsels of delicious but quite a dent in the pocket. I love the idea of being able to try and share several dishes but I don’t like that it costs quite a bit of money to feel satisfied. It’s probably best to come here just for a happy-hour or lunch situation where you typically want to keep it light. The drinks are also very tasty — the brandy old fashioned sweet being my top pick. Service: The service has always been excellent every time I’ve been here. The bartenders and servers across the board are very attentive and prompt. They have also been very polite and eager to make the experience good. In summary: Good food, good drinks, high prices. Still a nice place to treat yourself if you can!

5 Stars for the food 4.5 Stars for the service. It is normally on point but at times things happen. 5 stars for atmosphere and uniqueness I have eaten here a couple times now and it never disappoints. The pork nachos are a personal favorite, which is a staple on the menu. I love that the menu is ever changing and the chef is introducing us to new flavors. The beer menu is great for craft beer lovers like my husband. I cannot wait to go back for another delicious meal.

Father Fats is a very unique restaurant for this area and is a nice change from what’s usually offered. I love the changing menu and the cheese boards are always a must! The only thing I wonder about that is — you’re paying $ 3.75 per cheese… but you only get one serving of bread, jam, and nuts no matter how many cheeses you order? It is a tapas restaurant designed for sharing plates. The idea is nice, but the prices are kind of outrageous for the amount of food you’re actually getting. Three of us dined there recently, and spent $ 150 between us to feel ‘satisfied’. If the restaurant is busy, it gets LOUD! It is very difficult to listen to the waitress, and even the company you’re with. I dislike the tiny water glasses as well… I don’t want the waitress to have to come back 25 times to continue refilling my water glass –it’s unnecessary. The food is always good and always of exceptional quality. As it is quite expensive, dining here can only happen on a very ‘special occasion’ basis, which is unfortunate.

«Tapas style» translates to small plates at the price of big plates. The food was good, don’t get me wrong, but the pork nachos were $ 16 and I could have easily eaten two players by myself. Any meal where I feel the need to eat before I go(which I did) and where I’m still hungry afterwards isn’t worth $ 108 for a table of four. The inside was also very loud even though it wasn’t packed. The waitress had to practically yell the specials out to us. The hostess was not friendly and we were seated at this table that was half in the hallway so we had to constantly be mindful of keeping the not very comfortable chairs pushed in to not get in the way of staff or patrons using the restroom. Overall not good; considering the atmosphere and dining experience I wouldn’t go back unless the food was half price. So sad because we don’t have a lot of unique places in the area but the bottom line is that it isn’t worth the price.

I love this restaurant! They are very accommodating to food allergies/intolerances and can make your meal taste gourmet. The manager and staff are awesome!

The food is superb. It’s great to see the unique takes on classic items likes Eggs Benedict served up on a waffle and the local ingredients grown right outside is a neat, sustainable touch. The thing that bothered me the most was the clash of the food quality and the atmosphere. The place is small and noisy and for the price of the food, I would expect to be seated on something a little more thoughtful than high-school level plastic chairs. The murals on the wall are cool but they don’t seem to fit the area of Stevens Point, the connection seems lost and with all the people around, I felt anxious and rushed to finish my meal. Just alright. Food is a winner, but the overall mix didn’t jive with me.

A group of five of us came here on Friday night in July. It is rather small and we were ok to wait. Was able to grab 2 chairs at the bar while we waited for a table. It’s very warm in the bar area, as they didn’t have the air on and just the windows cracked. We wanted to sit outside on the patio but we were unable to get a spot due to one other large group that wouldn’t leave, so we sat inside. Our waitress Ali was very good and checked on is all night long and recommended dishes. The food was very good. The pork nachos were awesome as was the special spare rib bruschetta. We had a variety of other things and sampled three cheeses which melted in your mouth. The only complaint we all had was that it was extremely loud inside. We all felt like we had to yell to hear each other. I think it is just the acoustics of the building and there isn’t much you can do about that when it’s packed. Other than that the food was great, the menu is unique and the atmosphere is nice. I’d come back and sample a few other dishes.

Prices are reasonable, and the food is outright incredible. Great for dinners as a group, but we also love it for a late breakfast on Sundays. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles!

Excellent food and great service!!! We found this place on Unilocal, and thanks to all the previous reviews we tried it. We cannot wait to go back. The mushroom soup was decadent and so were the desserts.

Spectacular food selection. We went on Fat Tuesday and they had a New Orleans themed menu for the night, including special drinks. I really like the idea of different daily menus, it lends itself to frequent repeat visits! I only wish I lived a little closer than Texas. Hopefully I will get to visit it again soon.

Oh man, so good! A gift card had been burning a hold in my wallet for a while, so decided to go out for lunch when we had some family visiting recently. While the lunch menu isn’t really set up for small plates, we decided we wanted to try a little of everything and share, and it was all just wonderful. We got the flatbread of the day, roasted pork nachos, Canadian black mussels, Maryland blue crab cakes, and Asian chicken wrap. And then some orange-cardamom ice cream and caramel parfait for dessert. I am glad we decided to share because it was really a treat to try so many great dishes together. Our server was also spot on. Super friendly, explained menu items, kept our water filled, and timed the dishes coming out perfectly. Looking forward to many return visits!

Closed at 9pm on a Wed. night. We arrived about 8:45 and the staff was very gracious and had no problem serving us. We ordered the flatbread which is always good, no matter the kind. The wild rice and chicken soup was rich and tasty with a little kick. Risotto meatballs were good but small portion. Pork belly nachos a favorite for everyone and a large portion. The Asian chicken lettuce wraps are also a favorite and consistently good. The server kept our water glasses filled. Buttermilk fried chicken and waffles not worth ordering again. More batter than chicken. Overall a good experience. We’ll be back again.

The cocktail, «The French,» was very good. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. The food was okay. Beet salad was fantastic. Fire cracker shrimp was over seasoned(and I’m not talking about it being too spicy – I love spice.) The salted caramel dessert was small, but delicious. I will be going back to see if other dishes might be their specialty.

Had excellent small plates dinner here last week. I understand the menu changes daily. On the day we were there, we tried a quinoa and squash dish that was outstanding, some scallops wrapped in bacon, also excellent. There were four scallops served with four small cheese biscuits and tasso(I think) gravy. But because I need gluten free, they were able to keep the gravy in a bowl so that I could eat the scallops. My brother enjoyed dipping the biscuits in the gravy and ate them all, so they must have been good. We also ordered two oysters, they were cooked and were impossibly delicious, probably the best cooked oysters I have ever had. They have a nice wine selection, too. Overall, a fantastic restaurant and I would definitely eat here again.

Went last night for the first time — first time in Wisconsin, first time at Father Fats. We had an overall really good experience. Because our group had dining issues, we weren’t able to share the dishes, which is really ideal when you eat Tapas style. It’s kind of misleading to call it Tapas, which really applies to Spanish-style food, and the smaller plates here are really diverse in their flavorings and presentations. Everyone was happy with what they got, with one exception. I had the lamb meatballs with tzatziki and it was excellent. Perfect size, just filling enough. Two others had the lettuce wraps with chicken and said they were delicious. One diner had the shrimp and corn fritters, which came with a dipping sauce that she said made it too rich. She felt there was a lot of dough so it wasn’t as pleasant. She asked our server for some slaw on the side, and he and the kitchen took care of it right away. The acidic flavor balanced it out and she enjoyed it better. Desserts were yummy — I had the salted caramel devil’s food cake dessert and it came in a small dessert glass — the perfect size for just a taste of sweet. Again, loved the portion sizes. Speaking of our server, he was really terrific. Very accommodating and well informed. The place was packed, so expect to have a leisurely meal and to enjoy it. Their beer selection is fantastic — love the local brews! They also have mixed drinks and drink specials and the prices for the drinks and entire meal were completely reasonable! We ended up sitting outside which was just wonderful. This is a perfect place for date night or a small group — I really recommend it.
