We had nachos and a great wet burrito. Would have been a 5 star but their chips were store bought cheep round ones.

My wife and I ate dinner here on a March evening. Two younger kids serviced the table which seemed like an obligatory task to their parents. It was an awkward empty little place. When the waitress brought chips and salsa it was like tomato paste and Tostitos rounds. We both ordered the la Casa Verde burritos and they arrived in good time. Burritos looked OK, but nothing spectacular. Taste was just OK, but my wife described it as inedible. She said it’s was the worst burrito she had ever had. When it came time to pay the food cost was reasonable(about $ 10 each). We will not be going back.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place and the service was not bad! We came not expecting a lot, but left with full stomachs… my wife ordered the tacos and I ordered the steak nachos. I’m sure we will be visiting this place again if we ever come back through Stevenson.

We stopped in for lunch at the recommendation of the visitor center as «authentic Mexican food». We are baffled at the recommendation. It was bad, Americanized Mexican food. The place is filthy. Two stars instead of one because it was inexpensive and we did not get sick.

I had lunch there yesterday. Mistake! I have heard the stories of the owner missing good Mexican food(burritos) having grown up in LA. So she opened La Casa de Sabor. I miss my good California authentic Mexican burritos too! Yeah, this place was not it. I was taken aback by the awful appearance of the inside of the restaurant. Los Tacos in Hollywood would be my standard for non gringo. This was neither gringo or non gringo. It was just horribly uncomfortable. I ordered a chicken burrito. What I got was disgusting. First off, the staff all seems to be 16 yo, with the exception of the one older women working there. I was the ONLY customer at the time. My order was up, but the 16 yo’s had a lot to talk about, so I waited, while they talked, before they could be bothered to serve their only customer. Second, the burrito had hardly any chicken! Gobs of cheese with filler, but VERY little meat. It was not anywhere near real Taqueria food from Cali. This place is definitely NOT Stevenson’s best foot forward. People that like this place must also like REAL Mexican food like at Taco Bell. Do not waste your time or dollar. Let the owner live out her fantasy life on someone else’s dime.

This is a small business that is not fancy nor pretentious. It is clean and the service is fast, friendly and good. The minute you walk in your are cordially greeted and you find the seating you want. They will bring you chips and salsa while you wait There are times it is bustling and packed and other times it is quiet and few people but there is a lot of take out from the locals. I have eaten here about once a week for the past 6 or so years. My favorite is the Chicken tostada. It is like a fresh yummy salad on a crunchy corn tortilla and very plentiful! She always says you getting the tostada? hehe I do once in awhile get the taco plate. It is three tacos, chicken or pork, and refried beans and rice. Filling, tasty and not expensive. Her house made green and red sauces are really good! My hubby loves the nachos! They are big and so good. I cannot eat an order by myself. Be sure to say no jalapeño if you don’t want those. Stop and eat here as you are passing thru and Doreen and her staff will treat you well!

Hands down best Mexican north of Cali and east of Portland. Doreen’s La Casa Burrito is like no other. Guacamole appetizer is the freshest. If you are looking to party or catch a buzz and food doesn’t really matter then steer clear… but if authentic home cooked mole and carnitas and secret sauces are your thing, then hit La Casa. True, the atmosphere is a little stuffy but we go every time for the real deal. The kitchen, the service and the tradition. Sign outside should say: been serving Stevenson over 15 years. We all remember the hand deliveries to Bob’s beach, then the little place on 2nd between sessions, and now the one for lunch and dinner on Russell.

I love the La Casa burrito and rarely stray from it, but when I do… It’s always good too! I had the pork tacos last week… So good… Having em again tonight! If you ever see brownies in the case at the front counter, get one, they are so good!!!

These guys are always good and super fast for take-out. I’m a fan of their Colorado burrito with avocado added. You can tell this is home-cooking. Yummy!

It was good food and inexpensive. It is nothing fancy but great for Mexican food in a small town in Washington! My kids enjoyed it too. Wait staff was great and place really clean. Really cool artwork on the wall too.

So I’d been hearing about this place for years from my wife who grew up here and I finally got to see what all the fuss was about. Loved the low key relaxed atmosphere, décor was simple and the staff was casual and refreshing compared some other recent experiences. Food came out hot and fresh. Kids had some simple burritos and my son had a stacked plate of nachos. My wife had the house burrito and I grabbed up the chile Colorado plate with corn torillas. it was all excellent and everyone was eager to let others try which isn’t necessarily normal for us. Their house hot sauce is tasty too. I put it on everything and so did my wife. Kids had lemonade, wife had iced tea and I had a cervesa. the burrito my wife had was so good I ordered one to go for later. I’d highly recommend this if you’re cruising through the gorge drop in and get some food.

For a business named«the house of flavor» it was sure lacking tonight. First off we were all served fountain drinks that were watered down and flat. We told the waitress and she replaced them with bottled soda which was expired by 2 months but still tasted ok. All of sauces we tried(red and green hot sauces) and the salsa lacked in flavor, possibly salt, thus tasting bland. The food was just ok, not bad, but i would not come back. We were also disappointed at the small menu and lack of choices in meat, only chicken or pork. The prices are good, most items cost around $ 6.50-$ 8.50. We had 6 adults and 2 children in my party, our bill was $ 64.00 including 5 sodas. The restaurant looked nice and clean, Saturday night at 6 pm and we were the only ones there. The waitress could have smiled or talked to us but instead was very straight to the point and no conversation. My parents just moved to the area so we were hoping to find a good Mexican restaurant in town… we will keep looking.

My boyfriend and I just got back from here. The food was fantastic. There was no one else there so we almost did not go in. But don’t let the simple signage and decore fool you. The food was packed with flavor and unbelievably I expensive. I had the spicy spinach. Which was fresh spinach mixed with chiles and salsa type mix. I also had the chicken tacos which were small and packed with flavor. My boyfriend had the Colorado plate which was also very flavorful, fresh and not greasy at all. We were given a taste of cast us salad and I would order that next time. We left for under $ 20.00! Go here if you are in Stevenson and want a pleasant surprise.

La Casa de Sabor is wonderful. They have low prices, good portions, a good location and attentive service. Their atmosphere was highly authentic and the place would be good even if it were not near the touristy areas of the falls. I had a torta that seemed complex and my group of three left for under twenty dollars. Le Casa de Sabor reminds everyone that five-star should mean a place excels at what it is set out to do, not how fancy it is. This certainly adds to downtown Stevenson, Washington. La Casa de Sabor is a good source of lunch when visiting the falls.

Not too shabby! The staff were super adorable, friendly, glad to have them there! The prices were fine, especially considering the super large portion sizes of the burritos. They were stuffed to the brim and very tasty. Totally an entire meal. Had the tomales with cactus… they were a bit dry and flavourless, but I appreciate that they had them. I’m sure one of the other«flavours» they would have had, would have been a bit tastier. They were very friendly and offered us tastes of cactus… mostly ’cause us Canadians had never heard/tried it before. All in all, a good meal to be had! Apparently they used to cater«The Gorge» which is a big Outrigger Race… but they haven’t in a couple of years. That’s too bad!
