Went to tin bins for the first time. I bought a half of a sandwhich the club and it was very small. I would Suggest they use different bread. Not a great value for what you are Paying. We also asked for our food to go and Was brought out our lunch on plates. We asked for it to go Again and it was very clear we were inconveniencing the lady. Not. Great experience for the first time but I would be willing to give it another shot.

This is the coffee shop that you want in your hometown. The coffee drinks and food, both breakfast and lunch, are delicious and made with care. The staff is always friendly and helpful. And the location can’t be beat, in a historic building with a river view. It’s the perfect place to grab a coffee drink or bite to eat, hang out and work on their wifi or have a cocktail on their patio(which we still need to do).

Family run, great staff, music, food and coffee. This is one of my favorite places in downtown Stillwater. I come here nearly every day, I get either tea or coffee, often something for lunch, and listen to the live music in the evening. The commander blend coffee is excellent, way better than any of the nearby chains. The British Black tea is good too– I like things simple but precise, and I’m quick to complain when something is off. The staff are friendly and obliging to my critical requests. If something is off, they’ve been quick to remedy without retort. The managers are former owners of the old Dream Coat Café, they have a strong attention to detail, and the employees all seem to share a tight bond. The food tastes great, although I’d say it’s a bit on the expensive side. A sandwich may cost $ 10 – 11, but if you substitute chips for fruit it’s extra(+2 iirc), and after tip can bring lunch past the $ 15 mark even without a drink. The atmosphere is bright, open, and clean. Lots of seating and a nice patio. The people that go there are what you’d expect from Stillwater, that is, 95%+ white, affluent, and a slight mix of high school and college students in the summer. The music is usually jazz, the typical safe choice for coffee shops. The wifi is OK, not great, but not as bad as previous reviews claimed; I get 44 ping, 13Mbps down, 3.6 Mbps up, with occasional downtime. Not as good as Caribou or Starbucks, but I’ve seen much worse. The tables are sturdy and the perfect size. Yes, that’s right, I’m critiquing the tables ;p. It’s important to me because if I’m on a laptop, I don’t want the table to wobble, and it needs to be a smooth surface where my optical mouse will work. There are plenty of outlets, and despite it being an old historic building, the wiring and outlets are modern. The live evening music is awesome. Quite a few different styles, from blues to folk, covers to improvisation. It draws a crowd, but it doesn’t get overly loud for the sensitive ear. They do serve alcohol, but I see it as less of a bar scene and more of a mimosas-with-brunch kind of place. I hope you’ve found this helpful! If you see a nerd with glasses on his computer wearing a black baseball hat, say hello! =-) See you around!

Today I had one of the best experiences in a restaurant in a long time. I stopped by Tin Bins this morning just to grab coffee with my kids before we went to Teddy Bear Park. When we arrived we saw the freshest bakery items that had clearly come right out of the oven. My kids couldn’t decide what to choose but everything looked so fresh I couldn’t blame them for taking so long. They finally decided on a fresh muffin and scone. When we ordered the staff couldn’t have been friendlier, they were very well trained and new the menu with great detail. They did such a great job of describing certain things like the Bloody Mary that I just a had to get one, and remember I came in for coffee. Easily the best Bloody Mary in Stillwater. We sat on the deck overlooking the river and wow what an amazing view. The staff checked in to see if we needed anything and saw that my Bloody was gone. I told them I was needing a coffee recommendation and was told that I had to try the Cold Press. It was the best I have ever had. It also hit the spot on such a great morning. They also offer sandwiches to go which was a nice option. The kids and I had a great picnic lunch at the park which was perfect as once the kids get their they don’t have any interest in leaving. Great to see a building with such amazing history have such a great restaurant operating inside but the people for sure are what make this place so great. The people that work there sure love what they do and it shows.

Tim Bins is a great place to eat. They have gluten free bread which is great. They have a wide variety of coffee and tea as well as a beer and wine. They have a unique selection of sandwiches which you can enjoy inside or on their patio when it’s nice.

I’m pretty sure my «iced chai» was milk with cinnamon syrup squirted in it, but the blueberry muffin was good and it’s a nice location. Stick to the basics, coffee, water, soda, get a muffin and enjoy the view.

I’ve probably been to Tin Bins a dozen times since they opened a few years ago and have always had great coffee, baked goods and excellent service. The space is bright and unique having been an historic site in Stillwater for over 100 years(former Commander Grain Elevator Building). Prior to Tin Bins the building was vacant for 3 – 4 years and it’s nice to see the space open again especially as Tin Bins is a great addition to the Stillwater scene. If you want delicious coffee, deserts, foods or drinks and a great space both inside and outside on their deck stop in. Based on the great experiences I have had here you will definitely want to make this one of your go to spots when in Stillwater.

Congenially Cool… yep, that’s what this place is. Honestly, this place is Hollywood Movie-Set ridiculous. Okay, it’s got the rustic, modern indoor décor with metals, woods, and even a bit of cork but then they went and accented the place with adorable, friendly baristas and staff. BUT the LOCATION and VIEW is really what puts this place over the top. This place has a view of the river valley with the lift bridge, trolleys, river boats, and tree-filled Wisconsin all in view. Wanna get creative? Write stuff, draw stuff, tell yourself stories by the über-cool fireplace inside, whatever, just consider doing it here… oh, and the biscotti and tasty hot beverages are doggone worth it too…

This place is pretty darn amazing — if you’re looking for a cute café to study/work at, with a roaring, warm fireplace, surrounding you with modern, concrete/wood touches throughout the space, you’ve found it! Better perk is the location, it’s right on the water but the interior is so nicely decorated you wouldn’t care where you were. We ate lunch here and also had some pastries brought in for a work meeting in the morning. Their caramel pecan roll is to die for — it’s just the right amount of indulgent sweetness to doughy buttery goodness. It’s more of a croissant type of medium, so the roll is flakier and more buttery than the normal rolls you would find, like cinnamon rolls or a Cinnabon. It’s got beautiful textures, fresh crunch, and the best parts are the last bites when you get to the end and the sugar has had time to caramelize the edges and really soak in, super rich, super indulgent, even gooey. I will be thinking of that bun forever! We also had lunch here. I got the tarragon chicken salad in a croissant. It’s served with a pickle and chips(which seem restaurant-made). The chips were interesting and really yummy, in that there was a variety. There were some that had black sesames of some sort in them that were super crisp, and there were others that were the typical kettle chips fried and crunchy. Both of them were amazing — I never finish chips but I did with this one. The chicken tarragon salad in a croissant was good, not the best since it would’ve been nice to have a warm croissant with the cold salad on the inside. But it was tasty — the chicken was real, it didn’t have too much mayo, it was perfectly seasoned, the addition of lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers were just the right balance. The croissant was a little tougher than expected and wasn’t the flaky kind, which threw me off. But all in all it was a great meal, and their prices are reasonable. $ 9.50 for the lunch and the bun was a little less than $ 4(which seems like a lot, but considering that you’d have to pay for something smaller and not as great quality @ Starbucks for $ 3 or so, this is a steal!) Would definitely come back if I return to Stillwater.

Excellent coffee and treats. Their coffee cake-muffins were divine! I’m thrilled to see the old mill space converted into a fun social space. I would gladly revisit this place. Their patio is a wonderful place to sit outside.

I used to be do in love with this place when it first opened. However, the past few times I have been in I have been sadly disappointed. I took a friend, who was visiting from Minneapolis, and we decided to try one of their coffee cocktails… It tasted like a cup of watered down coffee, for 7 $. I am also obsessed with their muffins, how ever the one I got recently, I took one bite and threw it out. It tasted like a wet ball of sugar. And the coffee I got that day was supposed to be a white chocolate mocha… I don’t even know what that tasted like but ick. I do not recommend. It’s like they just add a bunch if ingredients into something not even thinking about how it’s going to taste ;( Come on tin bins!!!

There are plenty of great places in Stillwater for great food and ambiance. Tin Bins is unique and among the best in my book! My espresso was great, far exceeding the taste of the national chain coffee houses. Can’t wait to try their food, the menu looks great! The atmosphere is unbeatable for casual meal gatherings or hanging out to get some work done(free WIFI is a bonus). Great«coffee house» vibe with character in this unique historic building, with patio seating and views of the river included!

Pros: Location is great Building is unique. Cons: For the money, the drinks are poorly made. Mocha was not good. Iced tea was served warm. Internet is unusable. When you can get a signal it is .5mps download and .5mps upload. This can’t even support e-mail. If you sit on the patio, you can’t get a signal at all. $ 50/month and a $ 50 router from bestbuy can solve this. I will not be back for this reason alone. I work from home and often from coffee shops. I want good drinks, good location and internet. 1 out 3 just won’t cut it.
