My brother, my fiancé and I ate here on Saturday, June 11, 2016 for dinner. As always, the owner greeted us with a hand shake as we were regular customers and he has known to recognize our faces. The waitresses scheduled for that day were sweet and were very on top of their duties. I ordered the Novia Scotia, which is deep friend salmon with cream cheese. My fiancé ordered sashimi and my brother ordered a Bento Box with salmon teriyaki. We also ordered deep fried calamari and 2 bottles of Sapphoro for the guys. Food was delicious as always! We finished all of it. Just when it was time to pay the tab, the owner comes out with their waffle desert. on the house! It reminded me of a Klondike bar except the chocolate portion is waffle based. This is one of the many few sushi places I will always go to, simply because it has gained my respect in food quality.

The roll I had, mango on top, salmon, tempura, hint of ginger. Was spectacular! I dont know why this place has a 3 start rating. I had a 5 star experience. I highly recommend this place for their food and hospitality. Love it!

It was our first time, the owner was extremely nice and funny. Always entertained us and made sure we were okay. We had the BENTOBOX. Salad was good. Food was absolutely Delish! Highly recommended.

Very good and great service! I don’t know why they are rated low stars, but so far(the past 3 times) it has been great. Big sushi rolls, so I advise ordering one before assessing to get more.

I usually order the volcano roll because its sooooo delicious. The past two times that I’ve ordered it, they gave it to me a little over cooked. With Shogun, the service is really a hit or a miss. Sometimes the service will be excellent, but the food will be average. Other times the food will be amazing, but the service won’t be that good.

not sure why this place only have 2.5 stars!!! simple and clean restaurant. The staff are friendly and courteous. Good place to get a classic bento box. It’s hard to find japanese restaurants to serve bento boxes nowadays. Some places try to be to boojie. Some days, I just want to order a simple bento box and this is the place to go in Stockton!

The manager is very rude! Least favorite sushi place in Stockton. If it Sunday night and you had to choose between Shogun and Domo, I would most definitely go to Domo’s.

I’ve been going to Sho Gun weekly for about 2 years now. Jean and Alex have been the owners for years. They have always been very nice to me and my dinner mates. The sushi is consistently fresh and good. They are by far the best in town when it comes to quality sushi at a good price.

Negative stars is what this place deserves… We been coming here for a while and it’s thee worst customer service ever. We keep coming because of a waiter peng was the nicest person there and we liked the food and put up with the jerk owner. But this last time we went in there with all our kids he was so mean to us and my fiancé ask him is everything ok. And if there was a problem in a very nice way. Cause he’s been really rude to us … He said yeah yeah yeah ok yeah ok you stay I don’t care you leave I don’t care either very rudely slamming stuff in front of all the customers we felt so embarrassed and not welcomed. So we decided we will leave cause we haven’t even ordered yet We will never step foot in that place again. And there are many better sushi places to eat then here. Never been treated so rudely for absolutely no reason. Horrible place!!! And the owner is a horrible person!!!

If I could give negative stars this place would have negative 4 stars! I have a family of 4 and my son does not like sushi so I got him something else and the rest of us wet to this establishment after we were seated the owner told us that my son couldn’t hear here and asked him to leave he is 10!!! Really made him cry! I will never go back and I can’t believe that the manger would ask one person of a party to leave because they will drink his water! We were the only people going to eat because the other party that was there were leaving! I hope the owner reads this and rethinks his policy of asking a 10 year ok to leave his store and not think the rest of us won’t leave! I usually come here without my kids and we usually get great service! Maybe they should have a no kids sign on the door!

I’ve been here plenty of times and worked in the food industry since I was 18. The owner was absolutely rude to me for no reason. I called in a togo order and asked him for the total he said 17.25 and when I got there he said 25.25??? I always tip and never have a problem. I’ve had friends say they wouldn’t return and now I can see why. He was ridiculous and treated me like crap. I don’t know how he could be so rude to me for no reason. Plenty of other places to go but still I liked it cause it was quite and close to my house but Ill pay extra to go further and be treated nicely.

The restaurant is nice inside. Employees are good with the service maybe because it was slow. We had the dragon roll, tiger roll and 49er roll. The dragon roll was decent as well as the 49er roll but the dragon roll did not have much flavor in the taste. The tiger roll as a shorter roll with 5 larger pieces but it didn’t look as much in portion size. Plus toppings were falling off of the tiger roll and the dragon roll. It wasn’t well rolled. There are better places around town for sushi.

The owner is really nice. I usually get their tonkatsu to go. Portion is pretty generous compared to other Japanese restaurants. Their side salad is also good. Only downside is you have to pay extra for miso soup.

Food is always amazing here and we’ve been here multiple times and never had any problem however after how the owner treated us yesterday we will not be returning! Apparently there is a minimum of $ 8 worth of food per person u have to order and that if u only Order one roll a miso and gyoza he tells u that this place is not McDonalds it’s a restaurant! I have never been so embarrassed or degraded before if I’m not that hungry I shouldn’t have to order more than I want! After he continued to talk shit to us and kept giving us evil looks and yelling and complaining to the other employees making us not even want to eat there or eat our food! I went to pay and was polite and said thanks and noticed He also charged me a sitting fee and don’t even acknowledge me took my card and rolled his eyes I will not be back here after that! Food is good owner is rude!

We have been going to Sho Gun for many years. Food is fresh and soooo good. Granddaughter is a sushi fanatic and they start cutting the primo tuna when she walks in. She also likes their fried banana dessert. Try it !!! Don’t need flash for good food and service. We love this place.

Giving Shogun’s a one star review is a compliment to the service they provide, and the quality of food served. I have worked here for 2 days, and by the 2nd day I quit mid shift. Due to the owner; Alex, constantly degrading and antagonizing the customers AND employee’s. The way he runs this place is a joke. I came in to get my paycheck for the two days that I have worked, and Alex refused to give it to me, leaving me to threaten to take him to small claims court over the measly $ 72. After much commotion, his wife(sweet lady) finally stepped in and agreed to pay me the hours that I have worked. On my 2nd day that I have worked for this establishment I’ve seen how Alex treats his customers, and I can honestly say it is a joke. A reoccurring customer complained about the Volcano Roll having too much sauce(it was CLEARLY drenched in sauce), and instead of making the customers a new roll, Alex went ahead and yelled at them stating that«I don’t care about the customers, just come, pay and leave». I felt embarrassed, and had to apologize on Alex’s behalf on how big of a scene he made out of it. The customer then went on stating that they have been to this establishment NUMEROUS times, and that Shogun’s has lost a very valuable and loyal customer; which I am not at all surprised. Another note is that Alex does not provide hand towels to dry the employee hands, so instead employee’s would either 1. use a dirty rag to dry our wet hands 2. dry it on our dirty clothes. This place is unsanitary and a disgrace to the restaurant industry!!! I’ve went out of my way to make a Unilocal account, and warn ongoing customers to stay away from this place! All of the reviews stating that this place is terrible, is VERY true, please eat at your own risk.
