My boyfriend claimed that this spot has the best tripe tacos! I love how freaken hot my food was especially when we were waiting outside in the wind and cold. Their location is next to a car dealership on the side streets next to construction, hella sketch or what, looool. But ridiculously cheap prices compared to the Bay Area! Tacos were about 1.50 each and burritos were only 7 – 8! Super hot food for cheap, thats a steal! I love how crazy hot the food was, we ordered 10 tripe tacos after being in traffic for so long from SJ to Stockton then a trip to Sacramento and Davis afterwards. After trying the first taco, I thought it was good. Lots of sauce, onions, cilantro and meat, kind of felt a little gritty to me and I don’t like gritty tasting foods, at least the texture of this tripe in particular. Don’t get me wrong, I love tripe, I prefer the tripe that’s served in phở though. Extra chewy and crunchy texture: D But I love how hot the food was, temperature wise! I think my bf overhyped the tripe for me, lol. Forever a carne asada fan: p

Ordered half asada and half adobada fries! And omg! They smelled so good on the car ride home! Drool! The meat is marinaded very good and the fries are steak fries with nacho cheese sauce on top! Added salsa from the salsa bar. New favorite place to get asada fries!

Food is really good but they have gotten my order wrong every single time. Examples I ordered a chicken wet burrito they made me pork burrito. On another day ordered steak burrito with only steak cheese and rice. Got steak and rice only. Steak tacos got pork tacos. Its so good but so wrong every time. Like a bad relationship. That’s why only 3 stars. 3 stars for tasty food but no stars for not taking orders correctly.

I have been here several times and I enjoy flautas, tostadas, tacos. Wet burritos and their delicious roasted chiles and onions. The people that run the place are warm, friendly and professional.

The asada tacos are the highlight of the place! They are so good and the asada is seasoned so well. Keep making the tacos they way you are doing because they are perfect. And the red slasa is on point!

Great fresh food. I alwayd order the Mexican hot dog because it reminds me of SoCal dirty dogs from guys selling it on push carts. The hot dog used to be dinky but now it’s a bit bigger– yay! I would love to see grilled bell peppers on it like in SoCal but the jalapeños are good with the sweet grilled onions. BUT! Since they are bigger now– the hot dog itself doesn’t seem to be cooked as through. The bacon is only crispy on the outside and the entire hot dog looks uncooked. Tip* grill hot dog, wrap w/bacon, grill again. Super kind staff. I always have to eat my tacos with tapatio — they have it in the back so just ask! They give chips and salsa with every order– even for takeout orders! Makes it really great for when I take out for my lunch. Plenty of parking and close to home which I why I come often as I do.

Our new favorite Mexican joint! And my husband and I are very picky. Only thing I don’t like is that they use nacho cheese on their nachos instead of fresh cheese. If they would change thay, the nachos would be amazing!

Now, I haven’t been in the restaurant so I don’t fee it’s fair to give it 5 stars, but 3 stars definitely doesn’t cover how good the food is. So. 4 stars it is. They also have a taco truck by Nissan car dealership which is where I first tried Chapala and loved it above all other taco trucks. Their food at both restaurant and truck, is no where near as greasy as most taco trucks. Their is no grease dripping out of your burrito and still all the flavor. And… The speak English! So there isn’t ever an issue with a misunderstand on your order when you are picky like me and want to add this and minus that. I have enjoyed everything from Tripas to carnitas so I can vouch that all of their meats are tasty as can be. They are also really quick and take call in orders at the restaurant so for my co workers and I with having a 30 min lunch, we are back in time to eat in no time. I will be sad since my company is moving and Chapala is no longer going to be our fave meal for lunch.

Me and my wife just love this place. Always loved the truck they own across the street but had to stand in the sun and wait for a while. Since they opened up the restaurant, I have not been back to the truck. The tacos are the same price, with sales tax added(as expected). The employees are very friendly. Just ate there yesterday, and thinking about going there for lunch again today. They have TVs with NFL playing. Heres the big bonus, they serve beer. If your in a hurry and want a $ 5 or $ 6 burrito the truck is best because they raised the prices a bit but throw in chips and salsa for the wait. However, if your not in a hurry, want tacos, or just not sure what you want but love good food for your buck, this is the place. New favorite taco place in San Joaquin County.

Update — for my second visit I ordered al pastor(marinated pork) wet burrito and again, it was huge and delicious. Just found out they serve free nachos upon request. Fun fact: the logo(what their Unilocal profile photo shows) was actually constructed from a large wooden circle and colored screws! You’ll see when you get close enough to it at the restaurant.

Fabulous décor along with great customer service is what greet you. The food tastes very authentic, & is reasonably priced. Nice portions, too. The Asada fries are delicious, as are the quesadillas. Definitely returning for more.

I decided to finally come check out the restaurant after enjoying the taco truck so much for the past year. Needless to say, the food did not disappoint. I ordered a large horchata($ 3.25), two chicken enchiladas($ 9.25), and the husband got the chicken burrito($ 5.50). The horchata was delicious and authentic, and the great thing is they didn’t fill the cup up with ice. My husband’s burrito was enormous, and came with a hot jalapeño pepper, a grilled onion, limes, and fresh cut radishes. He devoured the entire thing. My two enchiladas were good, the mole sauce was delicious, and the side of beans and rice was fresh and my daughter ate that without a complaint. It also came with a small side of guacamole on top a bed of lettuce with a few slices of tomatoes. Now why only 3 stars, you ask? The size of those enchiladas were TINY! Neither my husband nor I believe that it was a $ 9+ dish! At a Mexican restaurant, a $ 9+ dish would leave you feeling satiated, but I was still hungry after eating it! Those two itty bitty enchiladas can fit on my palm. It was that small, and although it was delicious, I did NOT get my bang for my buck. I mean, who leaves a Mexican restaurant hungry?! It’s practically unheard of. Also, I would suggest the restaurant to serve with real plates and silverware to give it a more restaurant feel rather than a fast food place feel with the paper plates and plastic silverware. Sure, it might cost a few more bucks to hire someone to wash dishes, but who say that is a bad thing, especially in this economy? More jobs, more customers. Taste & Freshness: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Ambiance: 4 stars Portions: 2 stars

Hot, fresh, flavorful food… friendly service. MUST try: lengua, tripas, asada… the grilled whole onions and grilled jalapeños are the best accompaniment. CLEAN restaurant. Great prices! Support local business, support local families!

If you’ve eaten from La Chapala taco truck, you know the food is bomb! The restaurant is CLEAN& the employees wear gloves when handling your food. It’s a plus that you can watch your food being prepared. Same food from the truck plus a few other options. The carne asada fries were good, came covered in cheese sauce, sour cream and guacamole! The Mexican hot dog was oh soo good! It’s a bacon wrapped hot dog with grilled onions, and jalapeños. As always, I have to finish my meal with a real Mexican coke! Will definitely be back

The food truck was already tasty and we couldn’t be more excited that a restaurant was going to open. Had to try the Asada fries when I saw it on the menu. Loved it! I think I’ll have to ask for more guacamole next time. Big fan of guacamole here. Tacos were just as good as the truck. The chile rellenos was new for us. It’s a stuffed pepper wrapped in an egg. Yes, an egg! We got the plated version that came with beans and rice. Was able to feed my daughter the beans, rice, and Asada. Needless to say, we were all stuffed ourselves! The Horchata is a must buy drink. We had to get a refill before leaving. Will be coming back in the near future to try out more food items. Thumbs up!
