As a naturally curly hair gal, I’ve been on the hunt for the right stylist for what seems like my entire life– I have found her and her name is Laine! Had my first Ouidad cut by Laine about a month ago and wanted to give my hair some time before writing my review. Simply put — I love it. I dont know the last time I wore my hair down, now I do most days. The cut is perfect, no more triangle head, no more awkward puffiness. Wondering why I waited so long!

I go to Helaine Marie Salon for spray tans and have been very pleased with the results each time. The tan always comes out streak free and gives me a natural sun kissed glow. I highly recommend this salon.

I was referred to Helaine Marie by a longtime client who swore to me that I’d never want to go anywhere else. She was right! I was a bit nervous; I hadn’t had my hair cut by anyone in years and I only wanted a trim to even things out. As I have extremely curly hair, I wondered if she would try to steer me to a Ouidad cut, since that seems to be a specialty of hers. But Helaine Marie listened to what I wanted and did exactly as I asked — how refreshing to be listened to and not up-​sold! The cut was exactly what I wanted and I love love love it. She’s clearly very skilled and knows what she’s doing. Helaine Marie told me that if I wasn’t happy and wanted more done, to just come back within a week and she’d take care of it at no charge. This was fabulous! I’d never heard of such a policy before. The cut was so great that I didn’t need to come back within the week but I will totally be back when it’s time for a trim again.

Best spray tan! Went in before our trip got the organic (Bahama color) dark spray it came out perfect and lasted a long time for a spray tan– very impressed

I wanted to wait a bit before I wrote this review, because I went to Helaine Marie for the first time, to get the certified Ouidad Carve and Slice haircut (with the «rake and shake») — for naturally curly hair only.
The cost was $ 120 (before tip) and supposed to last about 6 months.
I was highly skeptical. I never paid more than $ 50 for a cut. $ 120 is «big city» prices and out of my meager budget. But my hair was desperately needing a drastic change. So I booked it. And I am glad to say I was proven wrong!
Watch the youtube video for the technique… this is part of what made me skeptical, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of cutting going on, and it’s all seemingly underneath. Same as when Lanie was «carving and slicing» my hair. Nothing appeared different, not a whole lot seemed to be happening, it was very quick… yet there was all this hair on the floor. Hm.
First 3 days, I wasn’t very happy. I didn’t notice much of a difference. Not happy I paid $ 120+ for this. Hm.
Then, I guess my hair had to «recover» or something .I don’t know… because, the magic kicked in on day 4. THIS is exactly what my curly locks needed, THIS is exactly what I have been searching for but could not find. Curly hair, to «lay» correctly needs a specific cut, and THIS is the cut for that. I could not be more happy :)
Today is September 16, I had my Carve and Slice cut on April 23, 4 months ago, absolutely got my moneys worth. I am only now thinking of making an appointment for a month out, not because it really needs a «trim» but more that since the cut my hair has grown like crazy — but the RIGHT way — if you have longish curly hair you will understand what I mean by me saying I do not have triangle head. lol

Helaine Marie did the hair for my wedding. She was great about communicating through email, which was perfect for me because I live in MN and the wedding was in MA. Lainie and Candace did hair for 6 people (me, my mom, my aunt, groom’s mom, and 2 bridesmaids). I thought they did a fantastic job! They met us at the venue and were very accommodating to everyone’s requests. I did a trial updo several weeks before the big day, but I changed my mind and wanted to do curls the day of. Candace had no problems with this and the hair looked great! Everyone’s hair lasted through pictures, eating, and dancing. Thank you Helaine Marie!

I never got a spray tan before and today when I came to get my hair done Laine told me about her organic spray tan, all natural and it took maybe 10 mins. I love it ! Come get a tan and your hair done in one visit ! This will def be my new thing to do ! Thanks Laine !!!

I am so happy I spotted this little shop on a recent walk through Stoneham. I have recently relocated and was fretting about finding a new salon. Well I’ve found it! Laine is welcoming and so knowledgeable. I didn’t once feel rushed and am so pleased I decided to go red! She provided me with great options. I’ll definitely be back in 6 weeks!

I had won a gift certificate to Helaine Marie for a color and cut and I must say it is the best color I have had! Lanie also added highlights and a great cut. I will be recommending Lanie for sure!

Excellent prices, great environment, and professional talented stylists! The stylist is extremely educated and even has a copyright for a original foil treatment. I’ve gone to this salon for quite a while now and have never left anywhere close to disappointed. Their prices are on the low side compared to surrounding salons even though the salon is far superior in all aspects. On top of it all, Helaine Marie’s offer a 7 day guarantee, so if you are unhappy with any aspect of you cut, color, or style, you can come back and get whatever you don’t like taken care of with no questions asked. I recommend this by word of mouth to all my friends and family and now recommend you to take the time to check out Helaine Marie’s. I’ll never switch hair dressers again and once your visit is over, you’ll never want to go any where else either!!!

I have been a client of Helaine Marie salon for about five years now. Lainie, the owner, has had a lot of experience as a hairdresser and keeps up-​to-​date with trends in the beauty business, including her choice in salon products. She is a great stylist and colorist and takes her time explaining the pros and cons of choosing a new color or a new cut. Her prices are competitive and reasonable and I feel I get a lot bang for my buck. Most of all, she doesn’t make you feel rushed and always makes you feel special. If you aren’t happy with a process for whatever reason, she will make it right! Lainie is a pro and goes the extra mile.

Just got my hair done at Helaine Marie Salon in Stoneham. I have been struggling with my very thick and wavy hair for many years. I recently heard about the Oidad method of cutting curly hair, and this salon came up in a search for Oidad trained stylists. I got my Oidad hair cut, and my hair actually looks great! Lanie spent a lot of time going over how to care for my curls as my hair grows out. She also recommended some Oidad hair products to use that will improve the dry texture of my hair.
The salon atmosphere was warm and friendly, and everyone made me feel right at home. Lanie offered me coffee while my hair was drying. Even her customers were super nice and friendly.
I’ll be going back to Helaine Marie’s for my highlights very soon.

AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL. I wanted to give the two ladies that did my friend’s wedding the benefit of the doubt. They come into a room filled with 7 bridesmaids and an eager bride waiting to get their hair done, but no one’s hair looked like the photos that were provided. Hair didn’t look terrible, but let’s rewind to the fact that this is a SERVICE and the service requested was not provided.
These women doing hair not only weren’t capable of matching requested styles, but also became snippy when the girls were requesting things be redone. Aside from hair not matching the photos, hair was even FALLING OUT within minutes of just being finished. When paying $ 75 for an updo that should last all afternoon/​evening long then we at least expect our hair to stay in.

I have been going to Lanie for several years. Every time I go to the salon I look like a drowned rat and come out looking like a hair model. Lanie is a miracle worker when it comes to color and covering grays! When it came to my wedding day I wouldnt have gone anywhere else. Lanie had Katelyn do my hair for my wedding. AMAZING is the only word to use how beautiful it came out.
As soon as you sit in the chair you will feel like you have known everyone forever and you will fall in LOVE with Lanie!

Well let me start off with I am probably one of the most hard to p[lease woman regarding my hair and I have been to many salons I have found Helaine marie to be an outstanding stylist. The salon also has exceptional customer service all her employees work to make the customer comfortable if you are looking for a good colorist and stylist try this salon

I would not go here for their massage services. Had a very poor experience.

Had to get my hair done today and couldn’t get to my usual salon. Helaine took me on short notice on a Monday which is almost impossible to find anywhere else in the area. The salon is so comfortable, pretty and welcoming. The price was no where near as much as I’ve paid in other salons around town, and the result was better! She takes a lot of pride in her products and definitely stays up to date on the latest hair treatments and product lines. She listened to what I wanted and knew exactly how to achieve it. I highly recommend Helaine Marie and will definitely be back myself :)
