Very cheesy on their slices especially their speciality.. Sometimes the ratio of cheese to sauce on traditional slices is non existent. The chicken roll is out of this world and the price is remarkable. Very greasy, that will be the first thing you notice when you see the choices behind the glass. Overall though the place is good and has some gems.

This is one of my favorite places out on Eastern LI. It’s not a big place, and there is always a wait– so if you go on the weekend, it’s best to make reservations. The chicken caprese is out of this world! The garlic knots served hot and fresh with dipping oil is amazing. The background music is Sicilian and adds to the overall ambiance. Not loud either– just perfect. And to top it all off, no matter how busy it is, you always get good service. Highly recommend.

I stumbled upon this restaurant near Stony Brook University while looking to satisfy my pasta craving. It’s a little hard to miss since it’s situated in between a movie theater and a row of local stores. I wasn’t sure what to expect since it was located in a strip mall but had a solid 4 star rating on Unilocal. The atmosphere resembles that of Panera Bread or Olive Garden although they do try to make the seating area of the restaurant classy with waiting service. It was pretty empty at 12 pm but filled up relatively quickly. Many of the customers seemed to be regulars as the staff greeted them warmly and seated them right away. To start off, the bread basket contained pizza bread(?) and garlic knots which were extremely dry inside. It was basically bread dipped in garlic and parsley. The pizza bread was undercooked and hard to eat because the tomato, pepper and onion on top was falling off. For appetizers, we had salad and pasta e fagioli soup. The salad was messy and had very large slices of tomato in it as well as unevenly peeled cucumber. The soup might as well have been tomato soup with beans. For the entrée, I ordered linguini pescatore and my friend ordered fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. The linguine tasted okay. The fettuccine alfredo, however, was terrible. The sauce literally tasted like warm milk and apparently, asking for it with shrimp means getting three pieces sprinkled on top. The service was subpar. The restaurant was empty when we arrived but the waiters were nowhere to be seen. We had to awkwardly wait to ask for the check. ALSO we weren’t offered dessert which I completely forgot about until I came here to read the reviews about their desserts. This restaurant really disappointed me. For chain restaurant quality Italian food, I’d say Olive Garden is the better bet.

Always serves up fast, delicious Italian dishes. My go to favorite is veal parmigiana and chicken parmigiana. Large tender pieces of meat, lots of mozzarella and a fabulous sauce. Basket of garlic knots and mini pizza breads are also wonderful Service is friendly. Dining room is in the back area of the pizzeria. Great place!

Had dinner here few days ago with a friend and service again was fantastic and our waiter was very attentive. Food is always good. Sal, the manager, has this place very organized. I did order some take out today and he order was slightly wrong(when Sal isn’t working the place is sort of our of sync. but not worth decreasing the stars). Like I said go on weekdays when Sal works and you will be amazed how this restaurant runs and you will be amazed by the service. There is plenty of parking

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch yesterday and I was impressed with the huge selection different types of pizza and rolls. They have spinach garlic knots, which is unique, and they were quite tasty. I ordered eggplant rolatini pizza, and it wasn’t doing it for me. Huge disappointment, because I love eggplant pizza. Underseasoned, just nothing special about it. I kind of felt like I was a bit rushed when I was deciding on what food I wanted to order, which I didn’t like. My boyfriend got the CBR, which you can’t really screw up too badly. It was ok, and I would only go back if I was ravenous and in that shopping center.

I usually just ordered from behind the counter and always wanted to check out their dinner. The pizza, garlic knots and salad have never been a disappointment. I am very picky with sauce and was pleasantly surprised to find a pizzeria that could make decent sauce. The dinner portion sizes are unbelievable! The apps, dinner and desserts are to die for. You won’t be unhappy eating here, whether it’s a slice of pizza, a salad or a meal. Service is great. Food is great. Highly recommend.

What do you need on a cold winter’s day with single digit temperatures? Pasta and cheese. I got the combo plate for lunch, which came with ziti, shells, manicotti and ravioli. What I got was a plate covered in ziti and sauce in cheese, and had to dig out the remaining items underneath. Was it good? Sure. Was it presentable? Not so much. However. That tiramisu though. SOGOOD. It was fresh, sweet and creamy, and the best part was the bottom layer still had espresso that could be seen when pressed on with a fork. It was good. Service was wonderful, our waitress was very nice. Next time, I should probably try a dish that is not so… conglomerate.

Really really good pizza place. Surely recommend. Not the cheapest pizza, but certainly one of the really great pizzas!

I order from O Sole Mio often — I love that they take wolfie wallet. Definitely a smart business decision on their part. My student employees enjoy going here as well. I ordered a delicious pie topped with fried calamari. Flavor and texture was amazing. We use o sole mio often for catering events. Food is always great. My only negative feedback would be that pricing is a bit high and at times o sole mio will not deliver if you are paying with wolfie wallet or because they do not have a delivery person that day.

I have been an O Sole Mio customer for about four years and was extremely disappointed with the quality of their customer service during my last interaction. I had called over the phone to order my regular chicken dish. When the guy picked up the phone to take my order I had to tell my phone number 8 times before he got the number down correctly. It was obvious the restaurant was busy, it was loud in the background and the guy seemed to be yelling. When he finally got around to asking for my order I asked for a Pollo Capriciosa. The guy asked if I wanted the Crapice and I repeated that I wanted a Pollo Capriciosa. Once I received my order I noticed they had given me the wrong dish. I called them back to ask for the dish I had ordered to be delivered. The girl who answered ended up giving the phone over to who I believe was the manager. The lady put the blame on me and told me I was wrong and that I had ordered the dish I received. I told her how loud it was when I had ordered which could have led to the confusion. She kept repeating that the confusion was my fault. She told me, «it’s your fault,» and that the next time I should order the right dish. Although I had asked for chicken dish I received a dish with no chicken but was charged for it. She did not treat me with respect and was very rude. I have not ordered since then and will not go back! Although the food is great they do not know how to properly handle their customer’s needs. Since the last encounter I have found a new spot where the service is great and the food is delicious. Check out Fratelli’s close by!

Sole Mio. I simply had a grandpa slice, it was nothing amazing but the crust was perfectly crispy and the slice fluffy… not bad… from the looks of things though and come to think of it, taste… Id go back to try more but the service seemed a bit bland in its own right.

Wonderful pizza! Most pizza types taste wonderful. I also ate in twice. The dishes are great with authentic ingredients. Some times it is too noisy with parties.

Probably should have ordered a pizza… had I known their pasta dish was going to be dry and less than satisfying. Being that this establishment is a well known Italian restaurant, I assumed all their dishes would be at least somewhat appetizing. We were seated within 10 minutes, the restaurant was crowded by the time we walked in. The front of the house was like a regular pizza joint with different kinds of pizzas behind a long glass case. People were in an out every minute whether they had ordered pick up or were dining in. If you’re waiting in line for a table, make sure your face doesn’t hit one of their plants that line the middle of waiting area, it sort of takes up space. Again, I should have ordered a pizza, but instead, my friend and I split the soft shell crab entrée and the linguini with white clam sauce. The food was meh… nothing special and they definitely used canned chopped clams in their linguini dish — not a fan. The presentation when the food came out was also messy, being that this was a well known restaurant, I thought their dishes would’ve been a little tighter. For dessert, they bring out their full selection on a tray and show each table… kind of unsanitary especially if EVERYONE looks at the same set of desserts. We ordered the chocolate mousse cheesecake and it was mediocre, I could get a much better dessert from the Cheesecake Factory and they’re a chain restaurant. The atmosphere is fun, very family friendly and the wait staff are extremely nice. There are a ton of specials they name off off the top of their heads; it’s amazing how much they remember. Next time I stop by, I’ll just order a pizza.

Would be 5 stars if not for being way too crowded… Amazing penne vodka, lasagna, garlic knots, red wine(both merlot and chianti by the glass) and pizza. So-so spinach knots, grandpa’s slice(stick with grandma’s), and regular bread. Nothing bad here on the menu, and the stuffed pork chop special was oh so special. Staff is nice and friendly and attentive, hosts are amateurs and they have to move way too many people. Parking is always nuts because of the movie theater right there, but it is worth the wait. Really loud due to way too many people, but nice Italian ambiance and décor.

I’ve only been here for pizza either to sit or for take out but I must say this place is REALLYGOOD. It’s easy to settle for«mediocre» to «okay» to «good» food especially in college but this place is excellent. I’ve tried the regular, Sicilian, grandma, bruschetta — all amazing and always fresh. The garlic knots are also huge and delicious — I’ve tried the regular and spinach and feta stuffed knots. I will point out that the garlic knots are oilier than what you’d find at most places but still worth it. The service is great and the prices are reasonable. O Sole Mio is a few minutes away from Stony Brook University so I come somewhat often and highly recommend it.

Two times I have had the pleasure of eating at this typical Long Island Italian pizza/restaurant. The food is good, nothing great but constant. First time I had a pasta dish and pasta was cooked perfect seasoning was little lacking but overall good. This time I had a chicken dish. Chicken was perfect. Side vegetables was cooked perfect but main vegetables were mushy. I would rate food as a solid 3 bordering into a 4 star. Service was horrible. Ignored and sat waiting and waiting. Asked for oil and hot pepper three times. I only relieved one. Overall I would say the value is great for the price and food is good just not memorable.

we came for sunday dinner and the place looks packed. however, many ppl came for to-go order so we were seated promptly. I enjoyed their complimentary cheese bread and focaccia a lot. we shared seafood stuff portobella and seafood red sauce pasta. I really enjoyed the appetizer and the seafood stuffing tasted like crab cake. pasta came w a lot of seafood on top and was very delicious. Portion is big, and food is fresh and tasty. the waiter/busboy was very helpful on checking if everything was good. their pizza and dessert all looked very good, and I only regret not leaving any room in my stomach since their entrée came w a big portion and i can’t help keep eating. def come back again.
