We will be back. Just a quick stop for chips/salsa & Cold draft beer. Fabulous homemade chips(a heaping amount) and 2 generous cups of delicious salsa. They were out of guac. Our loss. By the way, Unilocal«haters» like Heather should go to Taco Bell. In my opinion…

Great food. Nothing fancy but the food is fresh, tasty and inexpensive. Guacamole is fantastic! The veggie burrito is especially good, with tasty aoli. They have lots of options, and are great about accommodating substitutions and additions! Great spot for kids too. Service is quick and the staff is friendly and cool.

Very disappointed at my experience with Benders. I noticed this burrito joint a couple of months ago when I was in Stowe. My hubs and I decided to try it out tonight, thinking Saturday night in Stowe might be busy but willing to try something new… Upon arrival it did not feel very welcoming and the little hole in the wall was very cold. We love little dives for sure but this was absolutely unexceptionable Ordered a chicken burrito, steak burrito kids chicken tenders and some fries. My hubs also had a heady topper. Service was relatively quick and that was a plus but for $ 46 our burritos were very anti-Climatic. Actually the lack of flavor and substance completely surprised us. Expectations are already very low for any burrito in Vermont knowing that they might not be exceptional but they were not even nominally incredible. perhaps the guy taking our order was just an awkward guy and perhaps he has no power over that but I don’t know how one runs a business without focusing on customer service including warm greetings to somebody who’s coming to spend money in your establishment . I wish I had spent my $ 46 in Jeffersonville at the Tavern or 158 Main. C’est lavie.

I was in Stowe, VT for a boards review course. For the most part, we hung around the area near the hotel for meals. However, one of my classmates had rented a car, so one evening we ventured to Bender’s Burritos for dinner. Since we were in Vermont, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a burrito joint. Surprisingly, Bender’s was pretty good. We all ordered different burritos, which were all huge and delicious! If Bender’s had been closer to our hotel, I would have definitely ended up going there more often for food!

I have never been so misled by Unilocal. We went there tonight solely based on Unilocal having it as 4 stars. Maybe for people who have never been to Mexico, or any city with a Mexican population, or have never met a Mexican, these might be 4 star tacos. To anyone who has ever eaten real tacos, these were absolutely flavorless. The meat was of fine quality, but the beef, the chicken, the cod and the sweet potato tacos were all flavorless. It was as if someone from Iowa, whose idea of spicy is a baked potato, went to whole foods, bought taco ingredients and threw them together. I reserve one star for horrible food. This is not horrible food, but the four stars is completely unwarranted. The chef for this restaurant should jump in a car and visit El Charrito Caminante in Arlington, VA(assuming he can’t get to Mexico) to see how his food is supposed to taste. —-update— It would be unfair to not mention that my family had to return to this restaurant two days later to buy a kid’s bean and cheese burrito for my 18 month old daughter. She liked it very much both the first and second visit. To the point made by the owner in his response, super authentic is not for everyone — including my daughter. That said, I feel like if it were called Healthy Wrap Store I could give it a much higher star rating.

I wasn’t expecting much from a burrito in Vermont, but I gotta give this place it’s due credit. I had the roasted veggie and tofu burrito — they really nailed it. On the other hand, my husband had the chicken burrito and he said it was really dry. The staff was friendly and there’s only so much seating, but overall, I’d still come back for another tofu burrito.

When you’re this far north of «the border», you wouldn’t expect to find notable burritos. We had driven past this place many times, but never stopped in. This time we decided to try something different, and weren’t disappointed. There are lots of options to be had, and all are fresh and delicious. It’s like Vermont meets Mexico. It’s Vermexican!

Delish spot, stopped in here on our way through Stowe. Loved their pulled pork and fried chicken burritos. SO filling — I probably would have split one next time. YUM!

My parents and I chose to eat here based on other reviews. We were surprised that we didn’t really enjoy our meals, because most other people seem to like it. The burritos were super-dense, like logs, and did not pack much flavor. The service was also mediocre. No smiles. No welcome. No «how is everything?» An overall poor dinner.

The family and I visited Bender’s Burritos for a little bit of mexican in northern VT. I had the Cod(grilled) Burrito and while the fish was very fresh and had a nice light flavor to it, the rest of the burrito was little bland. I had salsa(I think it was just from a jar but I could be wrong) and then some guacamole to jazz it up. That helped but some additional saracha did the trick even more. My son loved his cheese steak burrito — it did look quite good and after a few attempts of asking how it was, I still did not get to sample! He had to get the hint, right? :) The rest of the family had the BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork and Buffalo Chicken. No complaints from the group as they enjoyed their meal. We also had some chips and quac/salsa. As mentioned before, the salsa was just ok. The quac was pretty good and was eagerly demolished by everyone. If I went again, I may try something different but I can’t complain too much when they offer Heady Topper.

Great burritos. Fresh ingredients and I like the way the burrito is slightly toasted on the grill. Simple but tasty food.

Wow, so much worse than expected, this place was recommended but Meat was incredibly dry. There was what appeared to be undercooked potato cubes in it. Only iceberg lettuce and mealy tomatoes inside, no rice, no beans, no cilantro, no grilled peppers or onions. I don’t recommend even giving this place a try. One of the worst burritos I’ve had in my life, yuck! The tables were all dirty and prices were expensive, you’re better off with a gas station burrito.

Prolly the best burritos in the north east. Great vegetarian and vegan options. Everything is superb much like every thing around in this region. Vegetables are fresh and juicy. Cheese used is excellent. You can taste Vermont in the burritos. Also the best part is that they retail Heady Topper which is harder to secure than a winning lottery.

As a native San Diegan I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on what qualifies as good fast Mexican food. Benders was everything I could have hoped for and more! Their surf and turf burrito was excellent filled with large cuts of meat and shrimp. The ghost chili pepper hot sauce from the salsa bar was smoky and HOT! I loved it. To cap off the meal, I was able to order a heady topper to wash it all down. Folks, if it gets better than this I don’t want to know about it. I’ll be stopping by next time I’m in Stowe, which I hope is soon!

I came here superbowl Sunday for a quick bite before the game started. I decided to get the chicken burrito and my friend got the fried chicken burrito. Food was great, friendly service, convenient location with parking. You get good bang for your buck here; prices are low and portions are large. I loved how they grilled the outside of the burrito after it was wrapped, which gave it a nice crispy touch. The flavors were all great. My friend especially loved the unique fried chicken flavor in his burrito. I also enjoyed trying out various hot sauces on my burrito. There was a green one that tasted great, and the ghost pepper one was very spicy and also had bold flavors beyond the heat. Next time I ski stowe, I’ll be sure to drop by again.

Guys, it’s been too long and this is way overdue. The wife and I made our first trip up to VT this past Fall, and while we didn’t originally plan to visit Stowe we made some time. Bender’s Burritos is located a few stores down from the state booze and hooch store, on the main drag up through Stowe. The wife and I stopped in for a burrito and a beer and what we got was so much more! The employees of Benders were outstanding. These were guys with great demeanors, who took the time to talk to everyone and could make one heck of a burrito. We discussed the Winters they have, sights that out-of-towners may want to see but honestly were not worth it, and little gems that were. We discussed beer and food, and it felt like home. They also had Heady Topper, and as a beer guy this was a huge plus. I had my first Heady Topper here, and it went really well with my surf-and-surf burrito. To commemorate my first Heady, they gave me a lid to the can and a few stickers from Alchemist Brewery. Where else are you going to find real, personable folk like that? I’m not a fan of giving 5 stars, but these guys deserve it. They gave great conversation, an awesome burrito, had a fantastic beer on tap and hooked me up to make it all the more memorable. Please give these guys your business.

A great joint offering some well made burritos. Compares well to Chipotle. Their tortilla chips are freshly fried. The highlight is their sauces. Beware, they are actually spicy! A great flavor and a diverse offering of 4 – 5 different types that taste different. The smokey chipotle was my favorite. They also have Heady Topper cans for on premises consumption.

I guess this is like a more inventive take on Chipotle in VT. The service is nice and friendly and guided us through their regular menu and their giant list of specials. The gf and I came here for lunch and I got a buffalo chicken burrito that was supposed to be spicy and got their hottest hot sauce as well as all the other hot sauces on there. I have to say that despite all the heat that was supposed to be there it was just okay. The burrito was all right too, just kind blah. My gf’s fried burrito was also just okay, it didn’t really knock our socks off.
