Not sure if I just passed the cashiers on a bad day, but I’m pretty sure my boyfriend was racially profiled here(protip: when you ask for an ID, everybody should present it if they’re paying, to avoid discrimination) It was rude and awkward. They didn’t card me(and I was paying) but they carded him? Seemed fishy to me and I really didn’t appreciate that.

What’s this place doing here? They have an enormous section of Vermont craft beers and ciders that are themselves enough of a reason to head up the road and find this inconspicuous little liquor store tucked into a tiny strip mall on the way to Stowe. But why do they have a fabulous and eclectic selection of wines as well? This isn’t your ordinary liquor store in rural Vermont. For example, I counted three different labels on Bandol rose on the shelves. That’s something I would be even surprised to see at a specialty wine store, in New York or Boston.

Might be good who knows. I went on a Monday at 6pm looking for some good suds and the place was closed.

This Jersey gal found exactly what she was looking for! Bob was awesome and quite helpful. Go there for all of your beer questions.

A fantastic beer store for craft beer fans. Bob, who you will notice by a wise man’s white beard, is one of the most knowledgeable store owners about beer that I have met. I had a great time chatting and beer geeking out with him. A great selection, and even better prices(compared to NY).

Solid selection and depending on the day, you may be able to find HT. The owner, or «Santa», as some have referred to him, knows his beer. Every interaction I’ve had with him has been pleasant, he loves to talk about beer. After reading the other reviews, I have an inkling that they don’t understand the full situation surrounding the beloved Heady Topper. It sells out EVERY week at the cannery and all surrounding stores, so there’s your supply/demand issue. Secondly, it’s common that you will pay less at a brewery, because you’re eliminating the middle man(distributor) and buying straight from the source.

If i could give them no stars i would. I agreed with the previous poster about ‘Santa’. I will never go back here to buy beer and encourage you to go else where. Their selection is not top notch and Santa is a rude. Sorry Santa but you suck. Merry Christmas!

After visiting the Alchemist Cannery/Brewery yesterday and learning they were out of beer, my mother and I(a Californian and Virginian, respectively) followed their recommendation to go and additional 20 minutes out of our way to get beer at this store. My sister, a Vermonter, wanted the beer for my brother-in-law’s 40th birthday party and hadn’t had time to get up that direction for it. Side note: Neither my mother nor I can consume gluten, so this fun was not for either of us. So, we followed their directions and arrived at an unassuming little store and walked into the most horrific alcohol purchasing experience of my life. First of all, Santa(there are MUCH worse things I could call him) would only allow us to purchase one four pack of Alchemist’s famous IPA. We were there with another couple and faced only three four packs in the fridge. After inquiring how to get more, he insisted we could come back today at 11:00 — a four hour drive, roundtrip. Then, after insisting that he doesn’t upcharge on the beer and that if we wanted to buy unlimited resources, we could travel up the road to Edelweiss and pay three dollars more per pack, he scanned our beers at $ 12.99 a pack, which notably is $ 0.99 more per pack than at the Alchemist Cannery, which I pointed out to him. Don’t tell me you’re not upcharging your product when you are. Upcharging less doesn’t make it less an upcharge. He threatened to not sell me the beer. Eventually he did, and after I stormed out, unfortunately with the wrong receipt and returned and exchanged them, we headed up the road to Edelweiss, where their upcharge was only $ 2 more than Santa’s. In other words, if you don’t mind dealing with a businessman who is creating some sort of demand issue while hoarding his supply, go to Stowe beverage and pay a slightly less upcharge. If you’d like the beer, a smiling cashier, the additional option of delicious food, and don’t mind paying a little bit more for such courtesies, go to Edelweiss.

Good variety of wines and beers, had a fridge full of Vermont cheddar to pair with your wine, and a cigar case in the back which I helped myself to. Clerk was talking politics with a local, so this New Yorker was in and out in a snap.
