Amazing! We were able to get reservations at the Chef’s table, meaning a front row seat to the kitchen and watch them prepare meals. The only trade off was that we weren’t as able to take in the ambiance of the restaurant, which was very beautiful. If you’re into craft cocktails, then you definitely want to check this place out. The meal was just as amazing, and their dessert, banana pudding, unforgettable.

The Plate is hands down the best Stowe has to offer! Book days ahead, otherwise you won’t get in, unless you get lucky and can find a place at the bar.

Absolutely delicious. Sat at the Chefs table overlooking the kitchen. Great animated staff, great flavors, cocktails, and plating. Friendly staff and awesome urban, lively atmosphere. Would 100% go back. My family really enjoyed and they really aren’t food people! Something for everyone on the menu. Thanks PLATE for a great meal!

Pretty good place. It is warm and cozy inside. The staff was excellent from the host to our lovely server. The food was solid. Not earth shattering, but all very delicious and well executed. Portions sizes were larger than we expected as these artisan places are usually so skimpy with the food, but had I known things were quite so large I would have gotten one item instead of two. The large salad I had was better than the salted cod dish. One of my friends got a chicken dish and she ate all of it do I guess she liked it! The other had the scallop salad and the portion size was good and she enjoyed it. We lingered over our wine after the meal and no one rushed us which was very nice.

My friends and I have stopped at Plate for the past two years now during our annual Stowe Ski trip. This year, they were extremely accommodating by making a reservation for our group of 10. It’s warm, cozy, the cocktails were all delicious(rosemary & bourbon are a great pair – oh my!) All of our meals were well enjoyed and the presentation was also good. Great place for a nice dinner if you’re up in Stowe for a weekend. Little pricier than most locations in Stowe but it’s worth it.

Plate was by far the best restaurant we found in Stowe. For some reason other restaurants got great reviews but they were just average in comparison. From the chef’s table to awesome bread to start the meal, the whole experience was a ten!

I was recently in Stowe, VT for a boards review course. One night, my classmates and I decided to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. We decided on Plate, a restaurant across the street from our hotel. The restaurant was very smartly decorated and offered an open kitchen. The service was good — we had a large group, but our waitress was able to manage and even split the bill amongst all of us! For a Californian, I thoroughly enjoyed the options on Plate’s menu. We all ordered different things, but everything that everyone ordered looked amazing. I ordered the apple cider brined roasted chicken. It was delicious, moist, and tender. All that was left were the bones after I finished. If you’re in Stowe, you should definitely try out Plate!

We just finished our meal at Plate, and while we were initially excited to try this spot out, it wasn’t ASGOOD as I thought. **I will say, however, that I didn’t do a full meal here tonight. I rocked a soup and a nice sized salad. If you want a big Entreè review, I’m sure someone else can assist!** +Ambiance: Not bad. Modern and rustic, Plate did a good job of creating a hip environment with a relaxing vibe. +Appetizer: Cider and Beet Soup. This was OKAY — I thought it’d be nice, with a cider touch, but the cider became overwhelmingly sweet. The highlight should’ve been the beets in the soup, but it became really sweet, which I wasn’t a fan of. Nice texture though — pureèd and thick; also came out quick and hot. +1 +Entreè/Salad: Baby kale salad with croutons and Caesar dressing. It’s an anchovy-based Caesar dressing, which I’m not a big fan of(although those who like it will enjoy this). The kale was decent — fresh and no signs of wilting. The croutons were also a nice touch; not rock hard, and seasoned nicely. I know I’m probably redundant, but as with most of my reviews, a 3⁄5 indicates Plate wasn’t a bad experience at all, but one that didn’t do much to stick out from the crowd. I wouldn’t die to come back, and honestly, would probably try a different dinner spot next time in Stowe. However, Plate’s modern and rustic vibe with a friendly staff and ability to seat us off the wait list from days before make them A-OK with me.

We had an excellent dinner at Plate. We both had the gnocchi and it was quite possibly the best either of us had ever eaten. I loved the comfortable atmosphere and décor and the friendly staff. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a perfect rating was that neither of us could detect pear in the pear and cheese soufflé. Even with that bit of nitpicking the soufflé was still delicious.

So my family of six stopped here the other night to see if we could get a seat. We are not from here and we have a very diverse family. I am not saying that is the reason for how we were treated, but I saw another reviewer wrote something similar so it could be an issue. As soon as my family walked in the door, I could see the look on the hostess’ face. She looked frightened like a gang just walked in. She immediately said«I have nothing for you». Not once did she say it’s an hour wait or two hours etc. It was as if there would be nothing for our party ever. I then asked her if they take online reservations and she said«on the website». I went to their website and I do not see any links for reservations at all. I understand it’s the holidays and Stowe is packed, but at least give the customer an alternative, but just turning away business without at least trying to accommodate a later date or time. Maybe this restaurant has so much business that they could care less about us out of towners.

If you’re looking for the best veggie burger ever made, look no further. Ridiculously delicious, thick, topped with caramelized onions and held together beautifully(like no homemade patty I’ve ever come across). I had reservations to eat at the chef’s counter on a Saturday night. Everyone was very friendly and the food was great. I devoured every bit of the burger and was so pleasantly surprised to see a vegan cheesecake on the dessert menu, which I would have tried if there was any room left. Highly recommend this gem.

Dayummm the gnocchi was probably the best I’ve ever had, hands down. Drinks were great, the«bread» and butter was amazing, spicy steak was good too but somebody’s going to heaven for that gnocchi, I’m telling you.

Such a disappointment. Do NOT order the Chipotle Lime Flank Steak Salad or you will be chewing til your jaws ache. Plate, you can(and should) do better.

It was great fun to look into the kitchen and watch the magic unfold, and because the table seats four and we only had two we had the opportunity to meet two other couples as they came and went. Aaron, their Executive Chef, was personable and helped us feel very welcome in addition to answering loads of questions. Our food was done perfectly. Bone marrow as an appetizer was uncommon and uncommonly done, my ribeye was the perfect complement to the smoked potatoes that were the star of the plate, and my wife had chicken in a restaurant for the first time in a decade after Aaron promised, rightly, that it would beat the stereotype of dry and tasteless. My only complaint would be that the wine was over priced at $ 30/glass for the pinot noir we selected. Perhaps inquire if they have a corkage and bring your own? Give Plate a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Had a wonderful time eating here. We loved being seated by the kitchen counter and interacting with the cooks and other workers. The food was awesome. Totally recommend the apple cider brined chicken and the bourbon brined pork chops. Definitely coming back here again

Some things coming out of the kitchen looked quite good. The interior was quite«portlandia» trendy with all the ‘barn style’ wood, porcelain looking tile and«artisan» lightbulbs. The food unfortunately was disappointing,(especially considering the prices) The vegetarian pad Thai was very watery and tasted only of inedibly sour rice wine vinegar with none of the flavor complexity you’d expect from a pad thai. It was if they had literally just poured a cup of vinegar on top of the spaghetti squash and called it a day. I can’t recommend this place based on our experience. I had to get food at the car-b-que parked downtown after because we were starving afterward.

Food was amazing. Pork was excellent as well as the chicken. Ambience was very chic and cool. Great service and it’s a must to safe room for the banana cream pie. Yummy This is an amazing addition to the Stowe restaurant scene.

We came here after a long day of hiking and were rewarded with great food, drinks, and décor. The restaurant was a mix of traditional and modern. My whiskey sour was perfect and the food delicious. While the service was at times a little slow, the opportunity to soak up the atmosphere was well-appreciated.
