Admittedly, this place is a step above MacDonald’s, Burger King and Wendy’s, but I didn’t feel the quality warranted the pricing. I ordered a burger and a large shake. The burger was flat and could certainly have had more on it than a slice of cheese, some peppers and flavored mayo. The shake was good, but, again, a bit overpriced. I found the staff looking extremely bored and the tables dirty. All-in-all, I would probably go back, but no rave reviews here.

The burgers are very fresh and will fill u up. Whenever I’m in the mood for a big juicy burger I hit up the wayback I always leave there satisfied. Also the chilli cheese fries are to die for and massive. Oh and at this location if you stop in after 5 pm on mondays you can get a way back classic chesseburger with all the fixings for only 3.99 you can’t beat it!!!

At first, they did not give me what I had ordered. When they gave me the correct burger, there was a long piece of hair on it. However, they did give me back the money for the burger. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Not as good as 5 Guys but still ok.

So placed a to go order place was not really packed. Some how they are running almost 30 minute tickets. The staff is slow look very untrained and if your having a uniform th e maybe wear it like th e rest of the staff rather than look like hammered shit. Will never go to the Stratford store ever again slow moving and with having 30 minutes to make my food they still messed it up. I think people there need to be fired.

«Wayback» meaning they actually taste like a burger. The way burgers were when we were growing up. They taste fresh, as do the buns. And the aroma of those fries will make your appetite VERY impatient. This may be «fast» food, but far from that manufactured taste. A good stop.

I usually order online and then go and pick up from this location. The staff is friendly and if I go directly to the pick up area, I am never ignored and get my food quickly. The restaurant always feels clean and the staff seems to be working efficiently. The food is very good and competes well with other mid-level burger places like Five Guys. The burgers are well done, but still moist. The hot dogs are tasty and have plenty of toppings on them. The fries are fine, but not the best part of the trip. The house made chips are excellent and for most people, I would recommend them instead of the fries. They come either regular or BBQ. flavored. The shakes are expensive, but good. The definitely seem higher quality than a fast food place. Don’t be afraid to try their burger or shake of the month. They rotate every month and include nice changes like their take on a pizza burger or the turkey burger near Thanksgiving. The pumpkin shake was also very good near Thanksgiving. The parking lot is not huge, but is not tiny either. Most of the time you can find a spot, but once in a while the lot is full.

The lousy burger was overshadowed by the bathroom sink which was filled with throw up. The staff said they meant to get to cleaning it. The absolute grossest place I have ever been. I do not recommend.

I like Jake’s. The have thinner grilled patty’s that I prefer. I will say thy are kinda pricey. They dont offer meals so you have to buy everything separately which adds up. They do have a burger of the month that is usually good.

I remember when this place opened a couple years back… so I was driving by with my mom and we were trying to decide where to go for lunch. I said lets give Jake’s a try. The place was pretty busy. I ordered 4 hot dogs total(not long dogs), a large french fry and a small. I had a regular soda and mom had the complimentary coffee. The total was $ 27.79. I couldn’t believe it??? I didn’t want to look cheap… and sat down to wait for the food. The hot dogs were your run of the mill dogs… and so were the fries… nothing special to warrant the high cost. I don’t get it??? We can eat at a local diner and have a soup or salad… an entrée with potato and vegetable, dessert and a drink… and spend way way under that. Jake’s…what’s your deal? I think this place is a true rip-off!!! Y’all need to fix your prices for todays economy… cause it’s way too rich for our blood!!! Not going back until the prices change.

No where near as good as Five Guys or Shake Shack. Very pricey… a burger, small fry and drink will set you back around $ 12. If your looking for a good burger, drive about a mile down the road to Danny’s.

I came here after eyeballing the location for a while. I love burgers so I had high hopes. The place is cute and clean. I think the service was pretty quick. There are no combos except kids’ meals so everything is pretty much ala carte and PRICEY! I got a salad and three kids meals(yes I was not trying to spend the same amount for a burger as for a whole kid’s meal!) Our server was really sweet and we got our food quickly. I could tell the food was fresh right away, but not so much that I could forget my $ 25 bill. OUCH! I feel like I should have walked away with a whole cow for that money. Overall the food was cool, but Red Robin’s or Five Guys would have been cheaper and more worth it! There won’t be a second visit :(

Burgers are very good but not awesome, considering the price. 2 burgers, fries, and 2 drinks is going to be over 20 bucks. The burgers are a step or 2 above Wendy’s, on par with the Irish bar down the road, and a little bit below 5 Guys. Milkshakes are excellent, fries are very good, crispy and not over greasy.

Tasty, moist, flavorful burgers– all of them– beef, garden, & turkey! Even grilled chicken & grilled cheese. And never frozen! On the smaller side. Rolls are like either potato or brioche like style — tender & moist w/o any crunch at all. Skin on fries that are golden & crunchy not like the ones @ those GUYS! Home made BBQ potato chips are both sweet & tangy. The turkey Jr cheese burger w everything(free: lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard ketchup, onion) & jalapeños was soooo fresh & delish! Lots of fresh toppings & a variety of sauces too. Interior appears very clean. I had the black & white milk shake which was dense & flavorful but too sweet & a small was $ 3.50! Very friendly staff. 1950 music pumping through the speakers. Private lot, NO drive thru.

FAB, FAB, FAB for the ever ubiquitous, elusive VEGGIE Burger! It was Heaven here… as were the fries and variety of malted drinks. Really liked this place. Mom wasn’t as pleased with her standard burger. I’m not quite sure why. Her little senior friends had told her the place was expensive, which was so not the case. Make your way to Jake’s — it was great!

Heard raves about this place from co-workers so I went this past weekend. I got the Cheesy Burger(2 patties &4 slices of cheese) to which I added grilled onions and bacon. Burger was good, I did think they were a little bit stingy on the toppings though. This bun is turned inside out and the cut sides are toasted on the grill kinda like a Patty Melt. It was good, but nothing mind-blowing here … especially for the price. A friend got their Junior(one patty) and said it was just a burger — nothing too special. Their fries were underdone to the point that some of them were still flabby-ish. Had we not taken the food home to eat it, i would probably have brought them back up to the counter and had them replaced with more well done ones. This was a disappointment — you need good crisp fries with a burger. The onion rings were thick slices of onion in what looked like a beer-batter — but were like grease sponges. Now, I don’t mind me some grease, but these were a bit too much for me. esp since the fries were disappointing too. And pricey. holy krap! Two burgers, fries and onion riings with 2 small sodas came to $ 22.00! WTF? Not real impressed. the 2-star review description on here says it best: «Meh … I’ve experienced better» ! BUT! The young dude working the grill was HOT … me likey!

This is a decent burger made fresh while you wait in a clean setting close to almost everything. It’s pricey and can be a little slow and it probably won’t be the best burger you ever had but it will beat the big chains and it is convenient. In the area, there are better burgers but Jake’s will hold its own and the ability to customize is a nice touch. I’m fine with this place and go here periodically. It is especially good for kids and they have a veggie burger that is one of the best around.

Went here today with the family. Granted, we went around 3 in the afternoon and were a little skeptical seeing as there was only 1 car in the parking lot…“were they even open?” Indeed they were. Ordered two of the«burger of the month» — The Cheesy Burger(2 patties, 4 slices of cheese). added mushrooms. Also ordered 2 Jake Cheeseburgers. One had ketchup and pickles and mine had everything on it. We had a couple orders of chips which we’d probably skip next time. The onion rings were awesome. Don’t bother with the caesar salad. We got an entrée portioned one. Honestly it was some lettuce in a plastic bowl with some croutons and shredded parm. You’re given 2 packets of Ken’s dressing with it. Not worth it’s $ 5 price. As for the atmosphere, you order at a counter, seat yourself after and then your food is brought out to you. Above the oldies music piping from their custom music mix, there was some sort of «clanging» heard from behind the scenes, not super annoying but loud enough to notice it. Our bill came to about $ 43. Kinda pricey for burgers and potato chips. Next time we go, I’d like to try a milkshake in warmer weather… mmmm…maybe some cheese fries too. I live within walking distance to the new Hamden location, I’m excited to try it to compare and contrast in the near future.

In a 27-hour intensive 3-day class, the only perk was my lunchbreak! Ran over to this mini-franchise right down the street from the firehouse to grab a quick bite. The setup is very much like 5 Guys, but cleaner looking and much less busy. I tried their turkey burger, fries and an iced tea – the burger was on the smaller side, but was tasty and moist. The fries are nothing special(I prefer 5 Guys in comparison). The service was friendly, helpful and relatively quick.

I was expecting a Five Guy’s clone, but I have to say that while Wayback is similar, it does have a slightly different formula(there are chains that haven’t yet come to the area like one called Mooyah which is simply a blatant rip off of the Five Guys concept). However, the operation requires some fine-tuning. Like 5G’s, you build the burger as you choose, and the mainline burger is two patties. While the taste of the burger was good overall, the problem is they are too greasy. As soon as the burger was brought to me and I took my first bite, the bottom bun was soaked. Every bite you take, you’ve got to wipe your face and hands as the burger is dripping with grease. And mind you, the burgers are well done, so it’s not the juices of the beef, it’s definitely grease. Also, I didn’t find the burger as well-proportioned as 5G’s — the bun is a bit large, and there was too much lettuce. Also, the bacon wasn’t crispy(though it was full strips, which is one thing 5G’s unfortunately doesn’t do). I had onion rings, and they were pretty good. One odd thing here is that there is a junior-sized fry on the menu, which sounded good to me, based on experience with 5G’s and their giant serving size. However, I wasn’t allowed to order the junior fries, as I was told it’s only for children. Now, I can understand a sit-down, waiter-service restaurant not allowing adults to order from the kids’ menu, but I don’t think it works at a fast food place. What if I were ordering to-go for a group including kids, would I have to prove I have kids? They really need to rethink this. Finally, service was pleasant, but the seating area could have been cleaner. Came to about $ 11 for a burger, onion rings, and a soda. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but a decent option in the area for a quick burger. Clearly has room for improvement.

Wayback Burger’s is pretty good, has a ‘Five Guys’ feel to it in a weird kind of way… without the peanuts. I had the special of the month, unfortunately I forgot the name of it. What I do recall is the bacon, 2 patties, cheese and barbq sauce. The place was packed, so that must be a good sign I guess.
