This is one of the best Italian sandwich joints I’ve eaten at. There’s another shop by this owners first name across from the pickle, not related and over rated. This place is the real deal! Try the #5, unbelievably good.

This is the best sandwich shop I’ve been to in Connecticut. I’ve had almost every sandwich combo on the menu and they just know exactly what they’re doing. Great bread, great toppings and fair prices. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Must say the mark D grinder with chicken, hot peppers, prov and raabe was just right! tender chicken and the sandwich was wet enough to enjoy in my car!!!

Great Italian deli in Stratford. I have eaten there 3or 4 times and I always get the Mark Daddy. Grilled chicken broccoli rabe Italian long hot peppers and provolone. One of the best sangweech” ive eaten. Everything is fresh. I, ve eaten in many Italian deli, s in Brooklyn ny, they aint got nuttin on Lucy D, s. Place to be if you want old school Italian.

Food is always excellent. Home cooked Italian food-​just like mama makes! Their family dinners are a great deal and perfect if you are in need of a quick yet yummy dinner. Their fish sandwiches are delicious too! Yummy broccoli rabe, porketta sandwiches, tripe, escarole and bean soup… the list could go on and on. Highly recommend it!

Do yourself a big favor and order their Sunday family meals. It’s great homemade food at a great price!
We also love their Saturday sandwiches. I can’t decide if the porketta is better than the roast beef or it’s the other way around.
They also have a nice pizzagaina around Easter. It is nice and later which you won’t find too many places.

Porketta sandwiches on Saturdays are unbelievable. Get it on ciabatta. The hot roast beef on Saturdays is great too.
Everyone there is super friendly, also.

Lucy Ds is an old school Italian American deli. With a location stricken with failure Lucy D came knowing the recipe for success. Open for a few years now and the neighborhood is loving it. Classics like beef stomach or less adventurous recipes such as vegetable panini or sausage and peppers. I don’t recall a bad item on the menu and the family dinner prices are good. All that is keeping me from a easy 4 star review is the constant smoking the staff does. Personally I happen to know it goes on just about every restaurant and wash your hands and its fine but for non smokers… Seeing the staff blowing exhaust on the front steps is less then desirable.

A seriously excellent «more than a» deli. Incredible hot food… all Italian. Great sandwiches that rival Gaetanos also in town. Porketta and fresh roast beef on Saturday. And check out the fresh made family meals waiting for you to take home… and inexpensive. Go now… did I mention breakfast too!

Lucy d’s is out of this world! The food is amazing! Their Chicken cutlets are so good and home made canoli’s. I love that you are able to buy their sauces makes it easy for short notice! My favorite thing is all of their soups. they are like no other!

Quintessential Italian deli. Chicken cutlets made fresh everyday, so delicious. Homemade baked goods of all sorts, also so delicious. I’ve been here 6 or 7 times, never had the same thing twice, never had anything that wasn’t amazing. Their bread is from Arthur Ave in NY, so good. Must try this place.

Awesome food. Chicken cutlets are done right and they have a wide variety of great sandwiches. They are on par with gaetanos and that is hard to do.

Fresh, Tasty, Stuffed Sandwiches, and reasonably priced. Delicious food and home made goods !

Best deli in CT. #20 hold the raw onions. OMG. Beast mode.

Small neighborhood Italian deli. One of my friends recommended that I go here for their stuffed Italian breads. I wanted them for a party. I ordered a few days in advance and they were ready when I got there. I ordered the stuffed eggplant bread and the meatball, pepper, and sausage. They were HUGE and they were very good. I haven’t tried the pasta fagioli but he also told me it’s very good. I will be going back here very soon. Oh ya, the eggplant was sliced super thin, just like I like it!

I really really wanted to like this place. I saw all the good reviews and decided to try it. I ordered a turkey grinder and my boyfriend ordered a roast beef. The rolls came with sesame seeds (which I don’t really like) but I could have gotten over that except the rolls were ROCK HARD. The meat tasted fresh, but didn’t have a lot of flavor to it. I might give them another try, but I was definitely disappointed. The guys were extremely friendly!

The freshest ciabatta rolls ever. Delicious deli sandwiches. Great customer service. Highly recommend this place. A jewel!

The sandwich I just had makes me want to cry tears of joy.
Every so often you come by a place that makes you want to pour your heart out with devotion and praise. My mind was rapidly running over all the words I had to describe the sandwich I was eating… delectable, hearty, fresh, delicous, mouth-​watering (still one word).
I ordered a chipotle chicken sandwich (it helps if you know what number the sandwich is on the menu when you call) hold the onions, and on a ciabatta roll. Holy good sweet mother of god, you’re about to turn an atheist into a believer.
This sandwich was almost as tall as my iphone. Stacked with smoky chipotle chicken that made my tounge tingle. The sweet cranberry mayo and crisp lettuce was a sweet cool compromise to the heat.
I’m hoping some Sikorsky folk get down here and try this place out. I know most of us Shelton corporate folk have been going to same place for far too long.
I think I’m willing to start letting Lucy deduct from my paycheck cause I don’t see myself going anywhere else when I order lunch.

Hey Stratford!!! There’s an awesome new Deli in town and they are doing some things that nobody else in town is doing! Like what? How about Italian Egg Rolls? How about the MARK DADDY (grilled chicken, broccoli rabe, fried hot peppers & shaved provolone cheese)? How about a sandwich with chipotle chicken breast, monteray jack cheese, raw onions, lettuce, tomato & cranberry mayo? So that’s pretty cool, right? Now check out the monster selection of breakfast sandwiches, the huge variety of housemade sauces to go (clam sauce, vodka sauce, alfredo sauce and about half a dozen others) and the fresh made hot deli items (rice balls anyone?). This is a total find! Add meatballs or sausage to your quart of sauce if you like or ask them to wrap up some Arthur Avenue bread. Don’t want to cook? They do special meals for families of 4 (I’m sure they will make it for any number you want but they will post a special meal for 4 with a set price.) Get home before everyone else, heat it up and take all the credit! They are only open from 6 to 6 M-​f and 8 – 4 on Sat. They close Sundays.
They also have a catering menu and it has almost everything you could ever want including apps, salads, baked items, roasted meats, pastas, chicken, seafood, sides, etc. etc. etc. The only thing I didn’t notice was pastries and that’s just fine by me.
And…They have outdoor seating! NICE!!!
Seriously, this is an absolute find! The food is fresh and amazing, the people could not be nicer and it may be the cleanest deli I’ve ever been in. I’m giving them 5 stars right off the bat. I almost never do that but it’s easy to tell that they care about getting it right and they do get it right. They deserve all five. Count me as a regular here from now on!
