Location, food, and service all deserve stars, and even more for being literally dog-friendly. The owner herself led us to the outdoor area overlooking the creek, right under the namesake willow tree, which she has designated for diners with dogs. She brought a bowl of water for my dog, and was as good a hostess to him as she was to us human diners! My friend and I went there for a weekday lunch. We both got sandwiches, one turkey and one tuna melt, and we added a side of fries. It was actually hard to arrive at those choices, as the menu was so good and varied with classic American and New American dishes. I had come here before with family, and ordered similar items, and all were good. I sat outside both times, enjoying tranquility and even a beautifully tiled mural on the back of the restaurant. It is truly a hidden gem.

We hosted our rehearsal dinner here for 40, last week. There are not enough nice things to say. The food was fantastic from end to end. Catering a large party can be a tricky thing but the chicken and beef were as tender as could be. The dessert was wonderful. The apple tart with ice cream was just the right finish. The staff was very attentive and the atmosphere was as warm as the staff. We were so happy. We will be back!

Went for Mother’s Day. ordered the prime rib from the limited holiday menu. The worst piece of prime rib ever. knife would not cut. I asked the waitress for a different piece who had the owner come back with… very condescending attitude. no apologies.as if it were my problem. Waste of $ 24…Will not be going back. Bathroom had no paper in stall either…

I went to the Willowtree today during my lunch break. I live out of town and was told this was the place to go for an enjoyable scenic lunch in downtown Stroudsburg. The atmosphere is truly wonderful. The clientele are older and many business men were having lunch at the location. I was promptly seated on arrival by a gentleman at the door at a table with a beautiful view of a flowing stream and the iconic Willow Tree. I ordered a cup of peppermint tea and it arrived in a little tea pot with the accompanied tea cup and saucer. The tea was hot and perfect. I then placed an order for the soup of the day — a Seafood Bisque. The soup was incredibly salty and lacked any seafood. It was essentially a salty seafood broth — I was a little disappointed and only had a few spoonfuls. My meal arrived after removal of the soup.(The waitress did not comment that I had not eaten the soup.) I ordered cod and black beans as my entrée with a side salad. The housemade dressing was delicious and the cod was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The black beans I ended up avoiding as they were extremely salty. All in all the service was fast and the food was eh-okay. I would try this location again to enjoy the view but definitely would experiment with other menu items. The Andes chocolate mint at the end of the meal did provide a sweet end to all the salt.

I don’t know why this doesn’t have at least four stars, this rating is very misleading. This place is great, the food is wonderful, the outdoor deck is great. I’ve been here multiple times and it has always been a great experience. The groupon deal is great, you can find it often. Lunch Salads are delicious. Sit outside if you can by the creek!

It’s kinda disappointing to write a two STAR review. Place is old and quaint, first two times we had a wonderful experience, great service and delicious food. This time around not so much. Everything was SO overly salty, I only took a few bites. A wine we ordered tasted strange, the waiter said they switched brands and they’ve been getting many complaints about it. Here’s some advice… for $ 7.50 a glass… stop serving it. Maybe it was an off day, but nothing seemed right here.

We decided to give it a whirl after hearing not so great reviews but the paper did a big piece on the 30th anniversary so off we went. Arrived early(4:30) waited some time to be seated in a restaurant with two occupied tables. Greeted by miserable man/bartender who refused to sit us outside because he had«a migraine». Meanwhile, it was a gorgeous day. Kinda perplexed, we were sat at a lovely table by the window. Ordered appetizers, small portions even for an appetizer. Not good at all. Stuffed mushrooms were drowning in butter. Disgusting! Entrees arrived, duck(should’ve been an appetizer) steak and lobster tail horrible and children’s french bread pizza served on scolding hot dish and so soggy it flopped around. Food had no flavor, mashed potatoes were obviously instant flakes. Waitress cursed 3 times in front of my 4 year old. Unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and just skip over this place. They need to hire a chef, revamp the menu and, along with the gorgeous backdrop which is the only reason I’m giving one star) this place has amazing potential. Until then, don’t spend a dime for this inedible overpriced faux haute cuisine. I really wanted this to be a find.

We ate at the Willowtree Saturday 9−26−15, after having been there once before, about a year ago, and having a wonderful experience then. Party of 7, we were the largest group in the place. Sadly, 5 of the 7 of us had some type of unpleasant experience this time around. Starting with beverages, the bartender should have warned my 8-year-old that the«Arnold Palmer» was made with an oddly-flavored tea and barely sweetened lemonade. Of course he was expecting a standard AP but was disappointed, so I ordered him a hot chocolate, which was watered down and flavorless. The appetizer some of us shared at the table, the bruschetta, was good. The soup, a miroquois soup, was just ok. The salad with the house dressing was good, but over-dressed…we’re used to dressing on the side and assumed that’s how it would come. The entrees were hit and miss. The chicken fettucini alfredo was nice… lighter than most… but it was ordered minus the chicken and was still charged at the full price. The rice & beans were just that… a scoop of plain white rice next to a scoop of unseasoned black beans with two unsightly grey blobs of «roasted» garlic that looked like slugs. No spice, nothing my 13-year-old vegetarian daughter couldn’t have dumped from a can. The three fish dishes that were ordered at the table were tasty and well-presented. The lasagna was delicious but came with the same side dishes as everything else… an ice-cream scoop of mashed potatoes and a mushy baked tomato with a sprinkling of panko. Finally, the kid’s menu chicken fingers were good… freshly breaded and fried, served with a generous serving of yummy fries. The desserts we ordered were good. The ambiance was nice, except that they didn’t appear to have a tablecloth that fit our large table. The view from the outside deck is beautiful. My son put his hand under the table and found dried chewing gum. The service started out ok, but then it started to get busy and there was only one waitress. Kat was very nice… but we had to repeat everything we said 3 times if she was wasn’t looking directly at us for her to hear or acknowledge us. So, though I would have recommended the Willowtree Inn a year ago, I can’t anymore. It’s too bad, it’s such a beautiful location.

Worst burger ever. Meat was burned, tasteless, bread was wet! Would never come back.

My husband and I dined here on a sunny Saturday afternoon in the summer. We sat on the upper deck overlooking the giant willow tree as the beautiful creek meandered by, sipping tasty Bloody Mary’s. While listening to Bonnie Rait and Carole King beneath the shade of our umbrella table, we enjoyed two scrumptious appetizers. I had the escargot in a vinaigrette cream sauce with garlic — excellent. My husband had the lump crab cakes in remoulade sauce — the best! For our lunch entrées, I had the sole almandine over white rice and my husband had the Aristocrat, a medium rare filet mignon sandwich with Swiss cheese and sautéed mushrooms, coupled with nicely seasoned Yukon Gold potatoes. — far beyond a regular burger! Laura was our very attentive waitress, who provided impeccable service. Hard to believe this restaurant is right in downtown Stroudsburg — truly a hidden gem! We’ll be back!

Excellent food excellent service and excellent atmosphere. I cant really go into it any further had a great dinner here. The outside does not justify how great the atmosphere is on the inside. Price was just right too.

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant with the voucher offered on Unilocal. We were excited because the environment was very cute and seemed well put together. The waitress was very nice as well! However, we were very disappointed with the food. Not very fresh or savory. Seemed overcooked and just blah. So glad that we didn’t pay full price for the food. Unless they improve their dishes, it may be difficult for them to win back customers.

Good value at lunch. Filet sandwich was delicious and loved the raspberry iced tea and italian sodas.

I liked this place, regardless of what the old, negative reviews said. This is a place for classy people. Not the scum of the Poconos or pretentious a-hole pious NYers. This place very recently changed their menu, but I had escargot here for lunch, along with the sole. I forget what the boyfriend had but I remember he was very pleased. We both ordered some sort of liquor drink. They had a limited bar, but I made it work for me. We sat inside only because we were limited on time, otherwise we could have and would have loved to sit outside. We did enjoy the ‘river’ view from inside, however. This is actually a fairly romantic place, had we not been there for a business type lunch that day.

Their policies are as outdated as their menu and beer list. They would not allow us to use a gift certificate along with a coupon. Everywhere else treats gift certificates as same as cash. Slightly below mediocre food and decent service.

Not sure why all the bad reviews. Been here about 4 times. Yes service is on average a little slower than a diner, but it’s a restaurant not Burger King. I“ve had crab cake dinner, steak sandwich, bruchetta, squid pasta, soup. The Italian sodas are good, so is the crostada dessert. While yes, the side salad is small, the house dressing is delicious(i bought some separately in a bottle).

The waitress was very nice but the food was horrible! Very disappointed! The dinner salad barely had anything to it. Maybe like 10 pieces of lettuce on the plate and that was all. My boyfriend ordered a steak. He wanted it medium and it was practically still alive. I ordered crab cakes and it wasn’t too bad but the rice tasted over done and right from a box. The place could definitely use some up to date décor. Very old and had a musty smell to it. Such a gorgeous place with potential.

My wife and I didn’t have a good dining experience. We waited a approximately 50 minutes for our entrees to arrive. When it did, the fish dish my wife ordered, the filet of sole, looked gray, dried at the edges, reeked of a foul fishy odor. It was horrible! Needless to say she didn’t eat it. My salmon dish was a bit better but the sides had absolutely no flavor. We skipped dessert knowing we could do much better on Main Street. Consider yourself warned.

The food is Great! The drinks are Deliciously Creative. The views are so pretty. Everything is perfect… except for the service. Such a shame! We give this place try after try. LOVE the food. The bartender is Outstanding — he comes up with tasty concoctions every season. I so wish they could find 2 servers. I really feel for them. It isn’t easy running a business in today’s economy. I haven’t given up on them — I hope they won’t give up the search for good servers to bring back busine$$ !!
