My favorite place for sushi in Stuart. The service is always prompt and the sushi is always fresh.

This is our favorite place in town full of sushi options. We have been coming almost weekly for over 8 years. The Fuji Yama roll is my go to. They also use smoked salmon in the Jb roll, yummmmm

My husband and I recently ate at Kazu twice over the course of a month. Both times we were happy to find great food choices and really helpful employees. We have tried several items off the menu and while all were yummy our favorite is the Katsu Don… There are no words for its deliciousness. Seriously, just go try it, it’s enough for two to share and I promise that you will love it!

Very good ika rings and gomae. Unfortunately our sushi, sashimi and chirachi had absolutely no taste, worst fish tasted defrosted and washed. Needs improvement. Good service.

Japanese food served traditionally and as it should be is much more elusive rather than readily available these days. Most fusion places can’t even entice me in the door. For many years I had a close friend who was a highly trained Japanese chef from Japan so it is hard to fool me. As my followers know I am a staunch Vegan – see more on this in my review of Fruits and Roots – and so you are probably asking yourself, «What the heck is she reviewing a sushi bar for? This is no run-of-the-mill disappointing fusion nonsense. This is a real Japanese restaurant with authentic flavors, high quality food, genuine décor and traditional atmosphere. I have taken all sorts of eaters here: fellow vegans, sushi freaks and people who hate fish. Everyone loves it! I am sure you will also. Please keep in mind that for this review, I am writing as my vegan self. Thanks for understanding all of you fish and flesh eaters. No worries, I promise all of the friends I have like you are always very pleased. So, you must go do your own research and writing. Thank you for understanding. Now for my Vegan friends; there are several items on the menu you are going to love! Anything involving spinach is bright and fresh in the traditionally steamed and pressed format with a delectable sesame paste sauce. The asparagus and avocado are always perfect. Both lunch and dinner menus have a vegetarian special with tasty seaweed salad and a variety of vegetable nigari and maki styles of sushi. These are all Vegan! Be sure to try the lotus root appetizer. It is crunchy and has a subtly addictive sauce. Kazu – who happens to be the owner – imports a variety of teas that are the best cups in town. You can take a box home with you if you like. I love the Genmai Cha. It is a roasted rice and green tea blend known to promote good dreaming. The wasabi and pickled ginger are always fresh and the right level of strong. They even have wheat-free soy sauce. I insist you give this a try because the vegetables are all gorgeous and the service is excellent. For the longest time this was the only restaurant I trusted in the Stuart area. Thank goodness it was here then and still is. I remain a loving and grateful devotee.

So glad we found this restaurant. I could practically live off of sushi, so if you’re like me and you love a good roll, this is the place to visit! It’s a little small, but worth the squeeze. It’s authentic. The staff is great. We were seated immediately, and the wait time for food was not bad at all. Highly recommend!

This is definitely the best sushi spot on the Treasure Coast. The owners are friendly and always provide great service. For appetizers go for the agedashi tofu or tuna tataki. For rolls the kanpyo roll is the best, and this is one of the few sushi restaurants that serves kanpyo(a type of Japanese gourd).

On the way to go to Miami, we found this place. It was surprisingly good and authentic. We ordered sushi, sashimi and katsudon dinner. Everything was fresh and good. We particularly liked katsudon; it tasted like a real thing. The kind you get only in Japan! We will definitely go back to this place when we drive again on I-95.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to eat here. We walked in at 2:01(literally) and were told they were closed. Even though people were in there eating AND I had called ten minutes earlier to ask for help locating them because we were lost in a sea of strip malls. I mean, really – ONEMINUTE after 2 pm?(It also bears mentioning that Unilocal said they were open through dinner.). I guess they must be doing really well if they turn away business so easily.

Place is a tad small for the demand but that’s not a bad thing for a business owner to have a wait. Just be patient and have a beer, wine or sake. Went with my son and feel I knew the sushi chef. I believe he was from the Sakura when Tony owned it. — can anyone confirm. We had a good traditional sushi meal. As we have been eating sushi for quite some time, learned from our Japanese friends, and eat items usually off the menu. The waitstaff are a bit«vanilla» and ours was new. We sat at the sushi bar made it easier to communicate those items. We will return but there are other places that are equal to quality and accommodate more people at dinner service if you need to seat more than 4 with about an hour to dine.

Came here on a recommendation from my father-in-law when he was down in Florida for vacation. He claims that this is the best sushi place he’s ever been to. The sushi itself being one of the best he’s ever had. Man, was he ever wrong. Surprising, because he’s eaten at the top places in the northeast. The nigiri sushi itself was poorly constructed. The fish, hardly preserved. Platters only had standard sushi fishes — tuna, salmon, fluke. No white tuna, barely any yellowtail. Even the California rolls were made incorrectly. Below average at best. Nothing authentic about it either. What’s even crazier is that the udon used Lo-mein noodles. What the heck? A japanese cannot possibly own this place. Beef teriyaki was strange with a really odd watery sauce. Meat seemed to be cut strangely. The only seemingly good thing about this place is the REALLY large sake menu. Which now that I think about it, is probably the reason why my father-in-law loves this place so much. A little lubrication can go a long way. Haha. I would probably only come back for a drink.

It’s really sad to see the nasty reviews left by people who are just clearly uneducated about sushi. The place is extremely authentic and clean. The fish is always fresh and the prices are very reasonable. I eat there once a week for probably the last 2 years now. It is a small family owned business so on a busy night I can see how the service may slack on occasion. For the most part everyone is great and helpful. Best sushi in the area hands down and the largest sake collection I have ever seen. Just a tip also. The anniversary roll that was bashed in a comment I happened to read is listed on the menu as salmon toro. Toro meaning fatty salmon. One of my favorite rolls! People should ask questions if they don’t know what they are ordering!

Authentic Japanese. Try either of the dragon rolls. Friendly staff. They can get jammed but be patient. The sushi is well worth it.

SAVE yourself! Don’t waste your time, money and health by eating at Kazu. Service is forgetful and rude. The salmon on the sushi roll was all fat that made the dish greasy. Honestly the rolls weren’t that good for the price period. Cost almost $ 100 for an appetizer, 3 rolls and 4 glasses of house red wine. Keep in mind that this is coming from someone who LOVES to give 4 stars! If I could give Kazu a negative score I would of. The down a dirty… The restaurant was very very small. The table next to you is basically dinning with you. Their menu is limited. Two wines Red and White, that’s it. They have very few choices for rolls. Service was horrible. We ordered 3 rolls and got 2. When we got our third roll that had charred salmon on top we ended up with charred fat that saturated the whole roll with grease. When my date said something to the waitress she said Salmon is a fatty fish and we agreed but this was nothing but fat. My fear is that it wasn’t even salmon at all. It was pure white through and through. I could only choke down one bite then I got sick and felt like crap for the rest of the night. I was shocked that the waitress didn’t offer any assistance she did forget about one of our rolls and we shown her the fat roll and yet she dismissed us. Guess the language barrier works out for her. I am new to this area and I guess my hunt for rolls is still on. To help you out a little… as a backup I did checkout Benihana’s and really enjoyed their food. I ate at the sushi bar so when you go to the bathroom you have to leave a trail of crumbs to find your why back and the drive is a little farther away but WAY worth it!

Excellent sashimi, sake was awesome!!! Service wasn’t consistent– odd– I came in right before they were closing with 25 minutes to spare — to an empty restaurant. I was reminded that the restaurant was closing soon(after I ordered as to remind me that I should eat quickly) — that didn’t bother me because I eat sashimi faster than most Asians… What did bother me was being charged for an item I never got… Next time I’m definitely combing over the bill here.

There is not much to complain about but the wait and take out is not recommended. Really fresh fish expertly handled with a huge sake selection. I have also had the best tempura miso soup here and usually that’s just an after thought for most places. My take out experience wasn’t the best. It took over an hour to get our order. So long so they took our phone number and told us to wander around and they would give us a call when our food was ready. When we picked up our order the colds were stacked with the hots so on the drive home everything got warm. We had to toss the sushi in the freeze for a bit to get it back to a comfortable raw fish eating temperature. So dine in always — take out not again.

I’m on a strict ‘no rice’ health program and we asked our waitress if the Kazu chef who was working this evening would have been kind enough to make our sushi and hand rolls without any rice and she said absolutely since they have regular customers who come in and ask for no seaweed on their sushi so it was doable. So, it looks like we will be coming here more often from now on to soothe our sushi cravings. Although, I must say that the presentation on the sushi does need some work. The seaweed sheet looked old and when I tried to mix my wasabi with soy sauce, it also seemed old and did not blend too well, otherwise the sushi and hand rolls were pretty delicious. Thank you, Kazu for being wonderful and assisting! :-)
