I think you have to be an educated consumer when you decide to buy something as personal as a mattress, and something that is usually a high priced part of your bedroom furniture. I did my homework on various kinds of mattresses and then, because I’m new to the area, decided to try Mattress Firm. Frankly, almost every store that has furniture carries the same products. I worked with a very nice salesman, Leonardo; he was knowledgeable, friendly, not pushy, and willing to negotiate on price. I purchased both a king and a queen«hybrid» which is a combination of memory foam and wrapped coils. I was happy to try out several on the floor and found what I wanted. I think I paid for quality. There is a warranty and the option to return the product before 100 days. I bought mattress protectors, which I would insist on having. The whole process was smooth, professional, and I am a satisfied customer. I asked for delivery 2 days later by 1 p.m. The truck showed up at 12:45, and the two young men who brought the mattresses inside were courteous, efficient, asked first about coming in with or without shoes(I said with, because there was nothing else inside at the moment), I signed the delivery slip, and they left a couple of mints. The company is customer service oriented. They under promised and over delivered. If you go into a store with an attitude that you think you’re going to be ripped off, you will never trust the sales person and always feel that somehow you are getting screwed. Get educated. This isn’t a set of sheets you’re buying; it’s a high end mattress and box springs that you will be sleeping on and it should be good quality and probably cost a bit to get the kind that won’t break down after a couple of years. Stop complaining about what you don’t know, and let the sales people help you. Also, they have a business to run and often cannot just let skeptical customers come in and ask for refunds, returns, and other demands that are not often warranted. Change your attitude when you plan to buy. It will make all the difference in the result.

We bought a mattress protector for $ 150. Then, we found one at home we didn’t remember having. So, we tried to return the never opened, still completely brand new protector. We got some crap about sanitary products could not be returned. While we were waiting, another couple wanted to buy the $ 545 mattress special. At check out, they were told they had to buy frame, delivery and other stuff at a much higher price. They walked out. Avoid this place. They are rip offs.

What a difference a year or so makes. After moving into our new home we went shopping again in the Mattress Barn. Everything has changed. New personnel and prices have gone way up. From what I was told new owners have changed everything. We decided to go elsewhere. I’ll write a review as soon as our products are delivered. Do yourself a favor and shop where you get a fair price and professional customer service.
