Simple menu. Yummy tacos. Beans had a little kick to them. Rice was nice and fluffy. Will definitely be returning!

I’ve been a few times now, I really enjoy this place. It will not change your life or anything, but it’s just such a classic it’s hard not to love. Unfortunately the prices keep going up, but the tacos really are big. I usually only get one soft taco and one bean and cheese burrito. Think one step up from Taco Bell. Hah.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for the longest time to try if I’m ever in the area. I’m glad that I had the chance to stop by & have some lunch one afternoon. I ordered the beef burrito, taco and a medium Coke. The food was decent & not bad. They don’t have any other type of meats available. No chicken or pork. Just ground beef. The menu was simple, inexpensive and limited for their customers to choose from. The prices are affordable and easy on the wallet. Henry’s Tacos doesn’t have a public restroom for their customers to use. You have to use the restroom that is located inside the laundromat behind the restaurant and is coin operated. Henry’s Tacos accepts cash only. There is an ATM machine in the rear if you don’t have cash to pay for your meal. Of course, there is an transaction fee if you need to withdraw money. Parking for this restaurant, you can park behind the restaurant or on the streets. The parking lot, it’s only a handful of assigned parking for their customers. Street parking, well it usually busy and barley any open spaces. Keep in mind that we are talking about Studio City where cars and foot traffic is always busy. All kinds of negatives things one restaurant may have deter you from eating at this place, right? Please keep reading my review, the story gets better. What caught my attention about this place is that I remember seeing the original Henry’s Tacos on the news a couple of years ago. It had to do with the tenant, the landlord & making the original building a historical landmark. The entire story about the original owners can be read in the link to the local newspaper article below. I was sitting in the back of the restaurant with a handful of tables, seats and the ATM underneath the patio enclosure. I was enjoying my lunch and minding my own business. There was a lady and the new owner of Henry’s Taco was just talking with each other reminiscing the good old days. She is a loyal customer of the original Henry’s Tacos for over 20 years. Come to find out, the new owner of Henry’s Tacos, he started working at the original Henry’s Taco since the early 1990’s. Until a couple of years ago, he ended up buying the business from the original owners! Fast forward to 2016, the owner has three daughters, a business to call his own and one of his daughters works side by side running the business with him. With hard work, persistence & determination, anything can happen. This is what I call the American dream!

The 2016 Unilocal500, Review #037: Even with my GPS I somehow managed to pass this place. I did a u-turn and found ample parking(7pm) behind the building. I also found a small open air dinning area, complete with an ATM. The ATM’s presence was justified because they only take cash. Anyway, I took pictures and told the pleasant young lady behind the counter what I was doing(pics as the sun was setting — yes I was rushing!), then dined on a delicious bean, rice, cheese burrito with lettuce, tomato and plenty of their delicious hot sauce — which was wonderfully mild. I washed all that down with a bottle of Aquafina. AHHH! * I also went away with one of their t-shirts that I will proudly wear in Florida! ** Oh! I can’t forget that the staff was ultra polite… I know if I had a business, I would be honored of they could come in and train my employees! So many places the employees are frowning. or. looking like their puppy just died. Not here. Want warm smiles? They make them here amd distribute them free… *** The burrito was amazingly good… and I am glad too, as it was my first meal of the day. If I have the chance to return. I will!!! Simple meal done flawlessly. ****WELLDONEHENRY’S TACOS… You get — a very rare — 5 stars from me! ***** Muchas gracias! *****

Wait, what? Haha this place is hilarious. I was wondering why there was no one there at dinner time. Turns out it’s because they only have one type of taco ever and that’s ground beef. And it tastes and looks EXACTLY like a Taco Bell beef taco. It wasn’t terrible, but for like 2.50 a taco? Shoulda drove through…

Beef burrito uses ground beef. pinto beans, cheese, onion. that’s all. no cilantro, no guac, no nuthin’. No pork or chicken on the menu. That should have tipped me off. Burrito was comparable to Taco Bell food. I don’t eat at Taco Bell. I am not saying you shouldn’t, but if you do, you are a bad person. Bought 2 burritos. Ate one. The sparrows, ravens and squirrels that hang out in my back yard ate the other.

I used to go to Henry’s years ago when they were at their original location across the street. I hadn’t had lunch yet and it was getting late in the afternoon and I happened to see Henry’s and I thought i would give them a try again. I ordered the crunchy taco and the combo burrito. It made me stop and think when the sign said meat — not beef — but meat. Once I bit into the taco, it almost didn’t matter what kind of meat it was. The taco tasted better than I remembered. The lettuce and cheese was fresh — this is a perfect crunchy taco! Once I finished the taco I started on the burrito but after a few bites I was really full. Later that evening I ate the left over burrito and it was delish! I think the combo was meat. cheese and rice. I went back a few weeks after that and bought tacos for the family. They loved them too. Thanks Henry! I will be back soon.

I have been coming here since I was 3 years old, and it is the most amazing institution. I love their burritos and everything here is awesome. Make sure to bring cash and don’t buy just one thing… they’re pretty small… I’d suggest 2 burritos!

Henry’s has been a staple not only in my life, but in LA for years upon years. The recipes don’t change and it’s forever a delicious and highly desirable treat for the rare occasions im able to make it back to studio city. The tacos you can’t go wrong. The hot sauce is iconic. I literally get tons extra and put it on everything for days after I visit Henry’s. The rice with green chili and cheese… Oh man Henry’s makes me sad I moved to the bay!

I wanted to write this while my heartburn was in full effect, just to be on that mad real tip. Firstly, I love tacos. Gringo tacos(Google it.), street tacos, half-eaten tacos on the ground, forgotten about tacos in the fridge, the tacos your friend’s Mom makes, and as many other tacos you can name until the word ‘tacos’ sounds weird. These tacos are overpriced and cheaply made. The beef is cut with 50% onions. Everyone is mentioning Taco Bell because that’s truly just about what they taste like. I have to say Del Taco would have been a better $ 17 spent for more than 6 tacos, if you’re going for Gringo tacos; then at least you’d be eating tastier beef. Cash only. I get it. But while you’re making so much more money evading taxes, couldn’t you charge a fair price for your half onion taco?

Wanted to try the taco burger and it was all I wanted it to be… for those of you who want to try a taco between two buns instead of a shell… do this., it’s delicious… very simple idea… but the taco meat and spices are right on… and do yourself a favor and dump one whole container of the house hot sauce on it… Soooo good. Can wait to try the actual taco and burrito haha

I’ve been going to Henry’s for close 25 years now. Disappointed that they had to move, but so glad they were able to! They’re just half a block up from the old location. Same great food. First time I went, I was leery of the American style tacos, with ground beef instead of steak, but once I tasted it, I was hooked. Nobody does that better than Henry’s! I used to live a mile away, now it’s 22, but I go whenever I’m in the neighborhood, and sometimes when I’m not.

Let me get straight to the point here concerning Henry’s Tacos. 1) It’s a long time Local spot which has moved due to a rent hike but stayed close to it’s original location. 2) It is a TEX-MEX taco/burrito, not a traditional Mexican taco in which a lot of folks on here want to compare it to. 3) It has it’s own flavor which no one can replicate… a flavor which my husband, son and I absolutely LOVE and at times, crave! It is consistent and flavorful every time(yeah!!) 3) Yes… CASH only. Why not? 4) ground beef with limited items on menu therefore: they get it right and consistent. The Burrito: 1) steamed flour tortilla, 2) ground beef with sauteed onion in it, 3) finely shredded cheddar cheese, 4) small amount of their homemade taco sauce $ 3.25 The Taco: 1) hard shell 2) lightly seasoned ground beef 3) fresh shredded lettuce 4) shredded cheddar cheese $ 2.75 Cup of Chili — homemade $ 2.50 Tostadas — $ 2.75 Cup of refried beans Cup of rice Taco Burger — basically a taco on a bun. When you are finished, go across the street to Aroma Café and get your dessert!!! Seriously, the owner gets their desserts from Willy Wonka. IF you can get a slice of the Godiva Cake… OMG~~~ Spend the 5 bucks and go to Heaven!!! The cupcakes are also the best in town. Do it… just do it!

Apparently Henry’s has become a love it or hate it kinda place because the reviews are really split since they were forced out of their old location and down the street to this location. No, its not exceptional Mexican food, but it is good and it is good consistently! It does seem that they are doing something right since they have been in business for what, 50 years? Bare bones menu: Tacos, burritos, chili and a burger… that’t pretty much it. Everything is spiced as it has been for years as it seems, and again, consistently good. The small outdoor seating area is pretty cool place if you don’t want to grab and go. Gets kinda busy durning lunch, but still worth standing in line for 5 – 10 minutes. Yes its cash only and if that is an issue then stay in your Hyundai and drive on.

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. I was basically raised on the stuff. I love Henry’s, even though things do taste a little different with the new ownership/location. My favorites are the tacos, meat and cheese burrito(with green sauce!), and the taco burger(no mustard!). I usually get a combination of that every time. Henry’s only serves ground beef, so if you want something else, you won’t be happy. I will FOREVER boycott Cactus Tacos down the street just on principle for causing Henry’s to be kicked out. The hot sauce is great and is both hot and flavorful. I also love the crushed ice in the drinks. Gringo tacos forever!

REALLYCHEAP, and tacos are decent. They only have hard shelled tacos, and only ground beef. Cheese is basic shredded yellow cheddar, and lettuce is basic shredded lettuce. Basically, the tacos are BASIC. Not great quality. But it’s so cheap. Tastes good if you are hungry and don’t want to spend a lot of money. Or you can go to taco bell and get the same stuff… I personally would rather spend an extra couple more dollars and eat at Cactus down the street for better quality. Taco flavored kiiiiiises. :-*

This review is based on only one taco at Henry’s, but I can’t believe I just was handed a ground beef taco in Los Angeles. Ground beef like my mom, in Connecticut, used to make for Wednesday dinner. Like Ortega-mix-in-a-skillet ground beef. I might be missing something, but as far as I know, this does not a proper taco make. And it was $ 2.75. Two. Seventy. Five. I’m baffled. For this white guy from New England who thinks he has pretty good taste in Mexican food, El Chato taco truck on La Brea and Olympic is where it’s at. No comparison.

I don’t know how this place is rated so high, their beef tacos are on par with Taco Bell Hard Shell tacos at almost 7x’s the price. I have never eaten here before but tried it because of all the«hype,» Several Tums later and some nice stomach cramps and gas, Ill never eat here again. Really? 3.00 $ for 1 Hard Shell taco? Come on! This crappy«ground beef» had better be «organic» YEAHRIGHT ANDBTW«cash only,» Why not just charge a small fee to use a CC or Square App to an ipad? Oh no just put an ATM conveniently located in the back and charge me $ 2.50 on top of your poor quality tacos, I’m sure your taking part of that fee too. Might be worth 1 star to tell your employees to at least smile when they are serving.

Tastes like Taco Bell :( Not worth even the $ 3 it costs me for a meat burrito. The cheese was super cold while the rest of it was warm. Really not impressed although I hear the other location is better. Not sure I’ll be checking it out though. I feel terrible writing this because I’m all about supporting family businesses but the quality of the food just really wasn’t good. BUT if your gunna spend $ 3 you should spend it here instead of Taco Bell lol

The meat is the ground beef with taco seasoning you make at home on taco night. Nothing special, but good. So, if you’re in the mood for that type of meal and don’t feel like cooking at home, then Henry’s it is! I ordered a combo burrito($ 3.15) which has that same meat described above, cheese, beans, hot sauce, and onions. It was okay but they did throw in an extra hard shell taco for free; very nice.
