I’m on a mission: To brunch through LA (check out my other brunch reviews) I have to agree a bit with all of the mixed reviews on here. I’ve been to Kings Road Café in Studio City twice. The first time was pretty forgettable. But I’m glad I gave it a second chance, because I was really pleased my second time around. Maybe the first trip was just on an off day, or maybe my second one was a fluke, but I say it’s worth trying out and deciding for yourself. Just like many of the other popular Studio City brunch spots, Kings Road is located off busy Ventura Blvd, and tries to lure hipsters and brunch lovers in with their«unique» coffee. Parking is difficult and there is no waiting area, so you have to stand in a corner or outside while waiting for your table to be ready. What we had: Huevos Rancheros– They were amazing!!! I was really pleasantly surprised by the flavor. Eggs Benedict– I didn’t try them but they looked good. My friend was happy with the portion size but not really impressed by the flavor. Vegetable Omelet– I thought it was good, my friend thought it was a bit dry. Again the portion size was nice and filling. Coffee– Fine, they have a reason to be smug about it, it was pretty good Pros I think the prices are very reasonable for brunch considering all of their egg dishes include potatoes and are a very nice portion size The location is nice and walking distance from a lot of other places The service was pretty attentive. Cons Parking and wait time Inconsistency. I hate that sometimes you get a great experience and other times it’s a let down Overall, I say try it out! Aim for a not so busy time of day when the workers can provide better service and more attention to food prep.

Great food, especially in the valley(yay Studio City!). I just cannot fathom why they close so early! There have been dozens of times when I was craving Kings Road for dinner, but they close so early! The turkey burger is outstanding, though. Definitely a great lunch spot in the valley.

I love this place for breakfast! They have some great egg dishes particularly the spinach and goat cheese omelette with their homemade salsa and their crab cake Benedict. Great coffee and have nice outdoor seating which is ideal when the weather is nice. Been here 4 times and haven’t been disappointed yet.

Came here the other day and while I did enjoy the food I had a couple issues with the place that knocked it down. Ill start with the bad. One thing i didn’t like was that there’s no parking. Its all on the streets around the area and last time i went. There was a valet for good earth next door but i didn’t see one for this place which kinda surprised me. The next thing was the prices. While it wasn’t to bad i wanted the protein breakfast. For A chicken breast cottage cheese and and 2 eggs cost $ 12. Which seemed strangely high since the other breakfast items come with toast and potatoes. Now on to the good. The food! It was good. I had the poached eggs that came with black forest ham and mozzarella on sourdough toast. It was really great. When i go back ill probably order this again. The coffee is also great. Fresh and yummy. It might be some of the best tasting coffee I’ve had. If next time I go they have a valet ill be bumping this place up a star.

This place does indeed have wonderful coffee, as mentioned by many others. However, while the rest of the food is adequate, I feel that it is overpriced for what it is. I do very much like their braised eggs for breakfast, but I just can’t bring myself to spend what they ask for some of the other foods on the menu when there are so many lovely restaurants that are lower priced in the area.

If you have read any of my other reviews, you know I am a full on burger aficionado and I am always on the hunt for the holy grail of burgers. So I was driving around today on Ventura Blvd. in Studio City looking for said grail when fate landed me here. As is par for a majority of the restaurants on Ventura, the ambiance was a typical, valley trendy. Sort of a wanna-be posh but not quite realized. Mostly due to a lack of imagination. For this place, specifically, the theme didn’t match the name. I was half expecting to see midi-evil décor adorning rough-hewn stone walls with a few tapestries and old English furnishings. Maybe even a hearth and a couple of appropriately costumed serving wenches. Not even close. Anyway… Back to the burger. I ordered the Angus Cheeseburger sans the cheese w/a side of shoestring sweet potato fries . I hate when I have to leave a poor review because I know how hard it is to run a successful restaurant, especially here in SO. CAL. where there are almost more restaurants than people but the foodie in me can’t allow me to just take a pass on this one. First the burger, dry… And if you know me, that’s a death sentence for a burger. A zero on the messiness scale. which equates to a boring, bland and generally unworthy burger. The meat patty of the burger was pre-seasoned with some fancy sounding herbs in the meat but the taste was overpowering and didn’t match at all with the flavor of the meat. I ended up eating half and the rest I sacrificed to El Basura, the trash god. Angus beef has a flavor all it’s own and it’s a wonderfully, savory flavor if just left alone. In my opinion it is a food crime to season this meat even a little but I think the owner or the chef is trying too hard for that valley trendy thing I mentioned earlier and it fails… miserably. I ordered the burger cooked med well and there was still red, not pink, in the center. The fries were luke warm but otherwise tasted okay with catsup. I prefer to eat my fries naked but these fries needed something to help them. The service was okay, nothing worth lauding. The guy behind the counter took my order quickly but I think that’s because he wanted to get me out of the way of the pretty girl in line behind me. Overall the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and the feeling that here was yet another wanna-be spot in the valley. Sadly, they fell short of anything that would want me to return or recommend. I haven’t tried the coffee so I can’t speak for that but if it is as good as some of the other reviews say it is, maybe they should stick to what they are good at and maybe change the name. to Wannabe Valley Trendy Café or something like that. Just sayin’…

Coffee is truly the«King» here. Long live the King! Big cup coffee still lives on, and it’s GOOD and STRONG. The very first time I tried it(years ago at the Beverly location at Kings Road)…I said«Wow, that’s strong.», then shaked and shimmied all day from all the caffeine. Days later, I am dreaming about going back and NEEDED coffee!!! Well, it’s as strong as ever, and still mighty tasty. While they serve lunch and close early(no dinner for YOU!) — the thing here is BREAKFAST. All kinds of yummy things, eggs; pancakes; waffles — not the traditional IHOP, no. It’s lots of great veggie and turkey-substitute bacons and sausages. Their frittatas are awesome here… and the roasted potatoes! Always consistent, always good. On a weekend morning when it’s nice and sunny, this is my first choice of a place to sit outside, eat good stuff, and enjoy reading the newspaper while sitting outside. Sun on the bones is great! If you have a little doggy, they seem to be pet-friendly when you sit outside. Lots of friendlies here. Great place. Period.

Probably the best french toast I’ve had in a long while, aside from my grandmothers. The meal was enjoyable. I’d come here again especially for breakfast, I haven’t been here for lunch, but now that I’m writing this, maybe I’ll try it. They seem to have some pretty good salads. My only complaint is towards their workers. I was sitting outside enjoying breakfast with my boyfriend, and we were sitting next to the windows, next to the kitchen. Besides the fact that they were staring at me while I was eating my meal, I thought it was really uncomfortable when they would call the other guys to come stare. I switched my seats, and sat with my hair covering my face most of my meal because I was really uncomfortable.

If you are looking for a great breakfast or lunch spot in Studio City then Kings Road Café is a spot you need to check out. The crowd is a little bit hipster but the eats are good. And did i mention the coffee ;) I’m a cappuccino lover myself and I wasn’t disappointed when I needed my caffiene fix. I’ve had the standard«3 in 1» breakfast, the pancakes are filling and well made. The curried cream of carrot suit is a good bet too. I’ll definitely be back to try some other things.

I would have given 5 stars … IF the service was even a little good. I tried Kings Road this weekend… went with a bunch of my girlfriends. I love that you can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful LA weather. The food? OMG So good! I got the eggs benedict… yes, of course! Its on a croissant!!! Ahhhh!!! Two of my favorite things TOGETHER! It was one of the best eggs benedict I have had, I must say! We also started with caprese. Also very good, just wish it had a bit more oil/vinegar. Sisters got the breakfast burrito and they loved it. Friends got salads and enchiladas. They liked(not loved) those too. BUT just know you will wait a while to even be acknowledged. Long time for water. Long time for our coffee. Service is just slow. I’d still go back… for that darn Eggs Benedict!

FAV brunch place. TONS of options. Great outdoor seating. Delicious yummy-ness. Lots of healthy options. Thank god, cause I have a mild panic attack everytime I try a new place and haven’t seen the menu. Fav omelette is the goat cheese, spinach, mushroom w/eggwhites. Multi-grain pancakes are RIDICULOUS… Coffee is SOGOOD. LOVE the coffee cart. I think they have discounts at the cart on mornings during the week… Seriously, check it out. You will LOVE it.

Four stars for a unique cup of coffee… otherwise three stars — but if a place has something especially its own people need to know about it. This is the northern Studio City outpost of the Beverly Hills original Kings Road Café. They serve one mean cup of joe and they do it right by roasting their own beans. They roast a blend of arabica berries but I wasn’t able to find out what regions they source their cofee from. The coffee is so rich and delicious. Thick even. Aside from the stand out coffee this locatoin remains a good place for a Saturday or Sunday brunch especially because there is outdoor seating. I’m taking notes to take my next out-of-state guests to Kings Road Café to enjoy our weather(and the Kings Road Coffee).

Whole wheat granola –banana walnut– pancakes and a cappuccino = my fav! My son loves the breakfast burrito. They always have a big crowd in the morning and the parking doesn’t matter to us because we walk here, which is a good thing because chances are you will leave full!

Bring your parka because they like to crank the A/C up in here. Though on a blazing hot day in fall, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I have hearted King’s Road in West Hollywood ever since I first discovered it a yearish ago, so I am happy to see that my fellow over the hillers get to indulge in its yummskiness now too! The menu is exactly the same, but I love this location for how spacious the inside dining area is compared to its WeHo bro. I also discovered their lovely smoothies and it has since turned me on to trying out smoothies at other café-like places, too. The food is executed well and it’s a nice mix of breakfast and hearty lunch options. Service has always been delightful. I think they are working on incorporating beer and wine soon.

King’s Road is just a good old comfy breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. Parked right in the middle of Ventura, it’s a fail-safe option that may not be the most exhilarating meal you’ve ever had but will comfort you with its familiar menu items like sandwiches, soups and quesadillas, yummy baked goods, pleasant soundtrack and friendly waitstaff. They’ve always been nice when I’ve parked it there to do some work, even when I’ve only ordered a tea or drink. It never gets too crowded during the week, although it’s definitely a popular lunch spot for those who work and live nearby. This may sound like a boring review, but sometimes a girl needs some stability in her life, and KRC always provides!

Underwhelming. Was here for breakfast today. Decent pancakes. Coffee served in big-ass cups. But please. If it’s before 10 a.m. and there are people having breakfast? Please refill their coffee cups one time without charge. Just once. Please. Maybe even halfway refill it. I beg of you. Pretty please with creamer on top?

OK… still love this place… but have a few notes since my first visit. I have been back 2 additional times. Both times didnt live up to the first. The second time i got the veggie burger omelet. Good but not amazing. The potatoes that it came with where freakin great though! Last time I got the same thing i got the first time: Egg White veggie omelet with fruit bowl as a side instead of the other unhealthy stuff. I was kind of annoyed to see a $ 2 or $ 3 charge for substituting fruit this time. In addition to the fee for getting Egg Whites only, this veggie omelet ends up costing like $ 15 bucks. Stupid. The first time I’m positive they didn’t bring Bread or Potatoes and gave me the fruit for free. Or if anything, a $ 1 charge. OH well… Honestly, thats my only gripe. This place is still the shiz and I will continue to come as often as possible! Seeing the cheer coach tall blonde lady from Glee also made it kinda fun. I see her all over the Val.
