Simple fun and basic sports bar. The owner is friendly and hosts a lot of great events. Have come here several times to watch the top MMA fights, championship boxing and also enjoy taking in the Dodger games here. The prices are fair and the bar food is decent. The servers are all very professional, polite and courteous. None more than Kelsey. She always greets you with a smile, delivers great customer service and even remembers what you like. She pays attention and delivers very good service and is a cutie to boot.

If you want the diviest dive bar in North Hollywood, you’ve found it! Super expensive prices for freezer to microwave«made» food, minimal wait staff so it takes forever to order and get said«food», and barely functioning restrooms(to the point where I just hold it and wait to go at home because I’m so grossed out). Don’t get me wrong… we LOVE trivia on Thursday nights, but only for the host who runs in. Hire some more bartenders & lower your food prices! You can’t get anything, not even a side of fries, for under $ 8. For two people who ordered two drinks each, wings, chicken fingers, and a side of fries, we spent $ 60 one night. Ridiculous.

This is tough on me, because I’ve been going there since it was called The Draft, and before that The Port, and before that Port of Athens(a Greek restaurant, not a sports bar.) I think I might be done with this place. At least until they change a few things. 1) There is some sort of ventilation issue going on with their kitchen. The whole bar is filled with smoke every time I go there. Didn’t used to be this way. Either they need more windows in the kitchen, or a new downdraft, or something. Bottom line is, if you like coughing and having your eyes sting, this is your spot. 2) The bathroom is disgusting. I mean, I don’t go to bars for their bathrooms, and nobody should. I actually don’t mind awful bathrooms in a place where food and drinks are cheap. 3) But that’s not what’s happening here. The appetizer sampler used to be a boatload of food for like 13 or 14 bucks. Now you’re talking 20 for less food than you used to get. A pint of Bud used to be $ 3 during football games. Now it’s 5? If I want to pay $ 5 for a Bud draft I’ll go to some place like Hooters or Buffalo Wild Wings. The TV’s are still great(at a few of your booths you get your own TV& remote) and the staff has always been super-nice and helpful. But the smoke thing is just a deal-breaker. Sometimes I wish they had windows too.(then again that can create glare, making it hard to see the TVs. I dunno — maybe a few skinny windows?) Basically, I used to love this place, but it needs a makeover. Starting with the kitchen. I enjoy grilled meats, but I don’t want to feel like I’m sitting in the grill while eating them.

You get what you come for, this is a dive bar. I liked it when it was The Draft and I like it now as The Rec Room. It was my first time coming since it re-opened and you can see the improvement immediately. It’s still the same lay out but they obliviously made some improvements inside and to the outside patio. All the televisions are still place in the same places. The bathrooms are definitely an upgrade from what they use to be. They actually flush lol. Also, the high chairs aren’t all beat up and broken anymore. Service is great compare to the servers they had while it was the draft. It looks like it’s all new staff which is great because they actually care about customer service now. My waitress was very nice and attentive, got our drinks fast and food came out soon after. The food is still really good and it taste the same as before which makes me assume they kept the same cook. The menu still kept some of the old items but they got rid of a lot of things which works better because of the menus simplicity. I recommend the wings, the only downside was that their blue cheese dressing is watery and with no chunks of cheese but I can look pass that. This is a cool place where you can come play pool/beer pong or just to watch a game. Cheap drinks and good food! What a dive bar should be, come support a local business.

Rec Room aka the«Kansas City bar» has been a nostalgic go to spot for us native KC’ERS. Thank you to Tim, the owner, for being the glue that brought us together through the 2014 Royals *almost* win, the 2015 crown, and every Chiefs game! I can’t tell you how great it feels to have an at home landing pad in the middle of LA for us transplants! Thank you to Ashley and Amanda for the great service!

I have been here twice and had a great time both times. It does not look like much at all from the outside, but has most everything you need from a sports bar on the inside… The Rec Room has stiff drinks, GREAT food, and awesome service. Every drink and food item we have tried has been a hit, except for the fried mozzarella square sticks(not sure of their menu name, but that is best description). The sliders are my personal favorite, and highly recommended. On my last visit, I forgot my hat and they(Ashley?) were kind enough to set it aside for my friend to pick up a couple days later. Danny(spelling?) was our server and did a great job. We ubered it up this last time, but I do remember the parking was a bit of a problem the first time we stopped in. Overall, this is a great place to catch a game and hang out with friends. I would say they have 5 star potential, but need to come in a couple more times to be sure. Until then, I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fun place to watch a game.

I remember when this place was actually cool. It was call the draft. The service here sucks. The waitress/bartender was more concerned with talking about her social life and empty bank account with another patron than taking my drink or food order… When she finally got around to it she said I could only order fried food and when I asked for my drink she asked how old I was… I don’t know if it was smug question considering this place is 21+… The owner needs to clean house.

If I could give zero stars I would. They were overcharging our party all night AFTER they had already ran our credit cards. Do not open a tab here. If you do check it before they run your card. Instead of fixing the issue they say«just take it out of the tip». No one knows how much their items are. Won’t be coming back!!!

We saw this bar on the way our hotel room. From the outside it looks like a little hole in the wall bar. When we got to room we looked up bars close to us showing UFC. This bar said was showing. We decided to go check it out so we could watch fights. To our surprise it is actually a very big bar inside. It was packed wall to wall but set up well enough to still get around. We had an amazing waitress. She didn’t hound us but was always coming by making sure we were alright. The owner actually came up to us and thanked us for coming in. Definitely will stop back by here when we are in town.

Went to the Rec Room tonight for the UFC fight. From the minute we walked into a packed house we were taken care of. The manager /owner(?) made sure we had a place to sit & the cocktail waitress Kelsey was super attentive with water, beer, etc. the vibe was good & we would definitely go back.

Good gravy. Their menu reads«Sports, beer, games, great food, and alright service.» Sports? Sure, I came here to watch the game, I saw the game. Beer? Maybe. But to access it you need a server to actually come to your table. Good luck. After looking desperately for a server long enough to receive one drink, I didn’t bother trying to order food. «Alright service» is a bit generous. This place is out of chances from me.

I am literally writing this review from the bar. This bartender is the worst I’ve experienced in years of bar attending AND tending. She has long brown hair and glasses, no idea her name cause she didn’t introduce herself, but that’s the least of our worries. Apparently if you don’t have a penis you don’t get ANY service here. It was so hard to get her attention for one drink, and then when we gave her our card she cashed us out & handed us a receipt when we told her we wanted to keep it open. So apparently we were just closed out ! After that it was a fight to get any attention, let alone another drink. At one point we were laughing at how ridiculous it was. Twice we got her attention, ordered drinks, and then she walked away and proceeded to make 5 – 6 other people’s drinks and never brought ours. I mean, I want to like this bar. It’s down the street from my house, has a good selection, seems chill. But I just have a problem when I can’t get more than one drink. For her to close us out against our will after our first round speaks volumes. She doesn’t want our business — which just so you know is a fun group of nice tippers ! No, she is much more interested in flipping her hair about and flirting with the male clientele. I’m sorry, it doesn’t take a penis to be able to order beers and tip well and bring repeat customers. As a woman I feel like you would be proud and stoked to serve a couple of nice girls who like beer. Not this bartender. Fuck you, and fuck the Rec Room. I will tell every person I can to not come here ! Why fight to get served at an empty bar when you can go somewhere that actually wants you?

This place is now officially my favorite sports bar! Great service, tasty food and a billion televisions for your viewing pleasure! All of the booths have their own TVs, very impressive! I watched the Canelo vs Cotto fight here and loved every second of being there. The crowd & energy were awesome. We even got to compete in a beer pong tournament. Can’t wait to go back!

Very cool spot. Drinks are priced well, poured well. Food is great. The red haired bartender, I think Ashley? Super cool, friendly and attentive. Definitely see why my friends come here a lot!

Solid drink pours. Caleb’s great behind the bar. The Rec Room Cheese(grilled cheese with bacon and avocado) is a little spicy, and very good. On Saturday’s in the fall, the place shows every major college game on TV, and they’re a home bar for UF(Florida), UT(Texas), and probably some others. Fun spot.

This place is gross. I ONLY go there because Chiefs fans congregate there. There is never any soap or paper towels in the bathroom. The bar itself is decent. The food is all right. But nobody takes care of the place. It’s a step or two up from what I’d imagine«Paddy’s Pub» is like.

I’m done with this place, they initially got better when they closed as The Draft, & reopened as The Rec Room but they’ve been going down hill the last couple of months. I got here around 5 pm like I always do for the UFC fight to grab a booth for my friends, being summer it’s obviously hot outside, the bar was maybe 20% full & it was already pretty warm inside. Jump to 7 pm, the place is full, it’s blazing hot & they haven’t bothered turning the AC on yet. They didn’t turn the AC on till 8:30, & by then 2 people from my group left because they couldn’t take the heat anymore & the AC didn’t help any since the place had already been packed for nearly 2 hours. They also failed on the service side, our poor waitress had to keep going back to double check what we wanted to order because she wasn’t sure what they had in stock. A friend order apple pie À la mode, they checked & claimed to have it, 10 minutes later she shows up with a pie with no ice cream(some how they ran out of ice cream that fast.) By 8:30 the bar ran out of all draft beer except for a few IPAs, they couldn’t keep the rest rooms clean or stocked with paper towels, & from what one of my friend told me out front when a line started to form the security guard was being a smart ass with people & talking sh1t to them when they just asked how long the wait would be. I’ve come here a lot of times for UFC& boxing events & for the service to get worse over time shows how little management cares about customer service & how little they care about their business. Granted yesterday was a really big fight The Rec Room has big fights at lease once a month & for them to unprepared is unacceptable.

WTF! We’re here for the much anticipated Ronda Rousey fight. The place is packed to capacity and — –there is NOAIRCONDITIONING!!! WTF?! It’s so crowded and there isn’t even a fan moving. It’s so hot. OMG! Kill me! The only reason why we haven’t left is because we are sitting at a $ 80 min table and we’ve already drank our fill and the main fight is in about 30 min. Never, ever will we walk into this establishment again! fuuuuuuuc@!!!

I like to come here every once in awhile when I’m not looking to go to a loud, crowded, trendy bar. It’s close to home and I like the crowd(normal, fun people). The Rec Room is just a normal sports bar. Good food, strong drinks, average prices. I’m a vodka soda girl and they’re about $ 7/drink. Which is a little much since I feel like it’s such a simple drink. They have a late night happy hour with $ 5 appetizers. I got the nachos the other night and they were so good. So I guess the drinks are pricey but the food CAN be cheap. The guacamole is very good but also on the more expensive end. It’s also extremely spicy. So you’ve been warned. The service is always slow. All of the servers are very nice but they seem to be understaffed all the time. If the service was faster I would definitely give this place four stars.
