I used to be a regular here when we lived local. Whenever we’re in the area we stop by for lunch or dinner and Risky makes us feel like I’m back home. Stopped by today and had an amazing meal of Spicy Albacore Sashimi, Tuna Popeye and Albacore Special.

I recommend their Pineapple Sake it’s a great alternative for your usual Sake bomb… talking about getting healthy while getting wasted lol. Came to this place on a happy hour deal. I thought the price are very reasonable and great amount of serving. The staff are very helpful and nice. If you want faster service, seat at the bar! There sushis are one of the best I had in the valley. I will definitely recommend this place.

I’m a regular at the sushi restaurant and love their sushi. The prices are really reasonable and very clean restaurant. Employees at the location are very friendly and welcoming. The food tastes great and the wait for the food is very short. They also do take out which is really great!!!

My absolute favorite sushi joint when visiting LA! Absolute favorite roll is the Crazy Roll/Salmon chunk roll i think thats what its called. The fish is so fresh and the rolls are made so neatly they really do care on the presentation. I honestly think Shiki is really the reason i fly in at least once a month LOL

Haven’t been here in years, so I’m glad to see it’s still here and delivering that ambiance and decently priced sushi that I’ve always liked about it. I came in for lunch and had the scallop sushi and masago sushi and they were both exceptionally fresh and tasty. I like that they include the complimentary miso soup and seaweed salad and bean sprouts. Great place for lunch!

My husband and I just cannot get enough of this place! I just placed a to go order and everything was just perfect! The albacore special just melts in your mouth! All the roles were amazing! We ordered Rolls-Royce, the Alex special, and the Ventura roll! I would also like to add that all the stuff is incredibly welcoming and nice! The manager Steven is a wonderful man and a pleasure to talk to!

The best sushi place I have ever tried. For the price, both the quality and quantity are amazing! I tried both rolls and sashimi, and they both exceeded my expectations. I really loved how they set miso soup, beans, and some side dish before you even order. I tried Alex Roll, Spicy Tuna Special, Albacore sashimi, and two more rolls I forgot the names since I just took all the recommendations from the server. I also tried their mango flavor macaroon ice cream as well. It was actually really good. Plus awesome service from friendly employees(:

Sad, sad, sad… this used to be one of my very favorites. Other Unilocalers are not wrong when they state that the place has gone downhill. Indeed, way on down that hill it now sits, my friends. Proceed with caution. I’ve eaten here many times, some of them super-stellar, some of them average, but never until tonight did I sour like I have. There are servers here I really like, so it depresses me to say this — but service is one of the main reasons I’ll not go here again. Food is next on the list. Ambiance? Just as nice as it’s always been. I’m partial to the outside, enclosed patio no matter what the weather. It just feels good sitting out there(doesn’t hurt that both the booth and chair cushions are extra comfy). Nonetheless, tonight was my final go. I arrived at 5:50pm and was promptly seated on the patio. I chose a two-top since it was just me, solo. I am single at present and have no qualms with eating alone, actually enjoy it, and I make it real easy on restaurants(never do I demand a four-top booth, nor do I get insulted when hosts/hostesses inevitably ask, «JUST one tonight?») I was handed my menu and asked if I wanted a drink square away by my fav waiter. I got my usual and settled in. From there on… downhill sliiiiiddddddeeee. I ordered the dinner combo, nothing special(I’m not a sushi connoisseur) and was all easy like with my «CA roll, salmon teriyaki, rockstar popcorn(not diet-worthy, I’ll admit, since it’s deep fried something-fish-like)» — with soup & salad. They didn’t serve the salad(requested it after my meal had already been delivered since they forgot about it… er…rather…me). What a poor choice of dinner. The salmon was just warm and just okay, nothing special. The CA roll was«can’t f*ck that up, really.» But the popcorn mystery fish was dreadful — cold, dry, dreadful deep fried chewy ewwy, served with equally dreadful orange mayonnaise dip. It and the dip must have been sitting out in the open air back in the kitchen for a good 20 minutes. Kind of like how I sat after eating most of my meal(popcorn was left on plate) — for a good 20 minutes in open air, left to dry out. Did anyone check on me? Well, yes, one lone busboy did — and he even asked«everything okay?»(this was while I was mid bite of salmon, so all I could do was nod without fear of choking). Wish I’d caught his name as I’d like to give him a shout-out for that pretty smile of his alone. But anyone else? My favorite server? The other three servers waiting on the far-less-than-full patio and all of ONE table indoors? Nope, nada, didn’t happen. Many of them glanced at me, some made eye contact, and I even got a half smile But not a single one asked me if wanted anything else(um…my Saki had long run dry). Even more egregious, my dirty Miso bowl, Bento box, salad bowl, ginger bowl, Saki glass and dirty chopsticks sat before me for said 20 minutes while I stewed with frustration and eventually anger. I’m a very generous tipper normally. But I’ll admit that I left all of an 11 percent tip(and that was generous, trust me). I also left a note, something to the tune of «terrible service, I felt invisible»(frowning face). And I’m still frowning… because a place I used to truly enjoy is now off my list for good.

I’ve been going to SHIKI for over 10 years and it has been getting worse and worse every single year. The portion and the quality of the fish has gone down. The Alex Roll used to be my absolute favorite thing but last time, it made me feel so sick. The last time I went, they had seaweed instead of the sprouts. That was soooooooo bad.

It’s been over a year since I wrote my first review about Shiki; I have been to Shiki twice in the past month because this place has changed– for the better. All I can think is: thumbs up, this place has improved ten-fold. Service: I didn’t feel barraged like I did the first time I went, the vibe was good, and there are TVs everywhere; so, this is a good spot to consider if you want sushi and your other half wants the game. I sat the bar, and absolutely fell in love with Chef Ken. I told him what I like, and don’t like, and then he served me magic. It was so interesting to see him go back to the kitchen for a few seconds at a time, only to bring out beautiful and incredibly delicious dishes to entertain my mouth and stomach, while he made sushi for other tables and my food. He’s very sweet, smiles a lot, and speaks softly. Everything he made was just … So close to perfection. I have no words to describe the tastes that he brought out of the fish that he served me. The manager made rounds, and stopped by to check if everything was okay. Yes, everything was more than okay(pretty good service). Food/Drinks: They have soft drinks on tap, so free refills, and better yet, they have beer on tap! I was pleasantly surprised that they have echigo beer bc most places don’t have it :) yay! The menu is huge. With the suggestion of the manager, I tried a new item: the edamame w truffle sauce(winner!). The blue crab and salmon is incredible! They have a plethora of good rolls. I would say, however, they do get pretty packed on the weekend, so you should expect a little wait, but there’s clearly a reason why! I will definitely be back soon. New go-to sushi spot? I think so!!!
