Food is very average. I’ve stayed at this hotel twice and I’ve decided I wot eat here again. I ordered a breakfast burrito and specifically said I wanted mozzarella cheese in the burrito and they didn’t do it. I also ordered a slice of apple pie however they pie looked like a pie from food 4 less that they warmed up. It was horrible. Again, very nice hotel but the food sucks

This is a cute little hideaway tucked in the Sportsmen’s Lodge(yeah, that is an absolutely awful name). I had a Groupon($ 30 for $ 15) and turns out they serve a brunch and the Groupon was valid at that time so… you know the deal. I go to church in Studio City so the location was convenient. As it’s a hotel, there is a lot of parking — no issues there. The café is near the pool and you can sit in an enclosed area or outside closer to the courtyard/pool. We choose outdoor seating. Our server was straight out of central casting — think Flo only a little older. She was very nice but a large table came in and we basically didn’t see her for the rest of our meal — we flagged down others for refills on coffee/mimosas and just went to the register when we wanted to leave. My breakfast burger was $ 14 and was better than I expected… it had cheese, bacon and an egg all on this buttery bun. Tasty. She had a vegetarian Benedict(also $ 14) and it looked really good… she proclaimed it «delightful»(she talks like that). Bottom line — I would go back with another deal… it’s a solid brunch option and also seems to be an unusual but interesting choice for a casual lunch. Service is not that of a 5-star joint, but this is a diner-like café in a retro hotel in the Valley so… it totally works.

Pros: Bright/white, clean, affordable, trendyish place with REALLY good huevos rancheros(and the best homemade salsa/sauce) and friendly/prompt service. Cons: Tiny, and felt like the restaurant was missing something but can’t quite put my finger on it.

This bright little coffee shop close to the pool area, is a delightful place for breakfast, lunch or just a cup of coffee. Their coffee is good, and their espresso is even better! Waiting staff is pleasant and the cooks care about presentation.

So I walked in for the first time and a waitress told me to sit anywhere but didn’t even bring me a menu. That’s not so bad but I can see the staff putting the toast in the toaster with their bare hands. Why don’t good service staff understand they need to use gloves! The reason for the three stars is because when my French toast did come out it looked beautiful and was delicious.

I went here with my family and we were seated immediately, we ordered and it took about 20 minutes for our food to come to the table. When our food finally came my mom found a piece of rubber on her salmon and all of the fried food tasted sour and acidic(like the oil had gone bad). I don’t think I will go there again.

I had not been here since they remodeled and was in for a big surprise! The place is adorable all decked out in an orange, white and blue color scheme. There are two walls of floor to ceiling windows that slide open in the warmer months and look out to the pool area. The food was great, a little pricey, but it is a hotel café. Sunday morning without crowds was a plus! Will be back!

Love this place! Can’t believe it didn’t know it was there, knew the whole place had been revamped but didn’t realize there were food options besides river rock. Had a great experience! Big glass of wine, yummie food(fish tacos & husband got meatloaf dinner). The lentil soup was Devine. Loved the stylish retro vibe, the service was spot-on. Excited to go back again, reasonable prices & good food in a groovy hip fun vibe.

Service: slow. Food: good but unremarkable.(Eggs benedict — good, turkey burger — good.) Setting: nice, but the lodge has taken away or blocked off its swan and duck pond. Parking: ample and free! Note: in what has become a disturbing trend, I mentioned we were there for a birthday, but no birthday dessert was offered :(and actually… they didn’t even ask us if we wanted dessert at all. Verdict: skip.

Ate here twice this week, breakfast and lunch. Food was average and the service is spotty. The older grey haired server can’t here your order and the food comes wrong. To pricey for the quality.

Couldn’t believe the service at this place! I took my mother for her birthday and a friend to eat at the Patio Café and found it to be remodeled which looks very nice. Unfortunately, we had the grumpiest waitress ever! It didn’t take long for the three of us to notice her terrible mood but it didn’t stop from there. It was like walking on eggshells with this woman. At one point we let her know in so many words at which point she was forced to express the fact her foot was hurting. I felt for her but then why are you working? On top of everything else the place was empty. There were like only two or three other tables with people. The fun part was seeing a TV show being taped right outside the restaurants large windows in front of us. It felt like we were on set. Our meal took forever where one meal didn’t arrive with the order. The waitress didn’t even bother to let us know. She acted like she was doing us a favor. Crazy! She gave us hot sauce and the seal was still on it.(adding to everything else …). I brought in some little cupcakes and we barely finished them when she swooped in to take it away. I guess she wanted to get rid of us. Her bad energy pretty much ruined our meal and our experience. Ugh! $ 40.00 bucks down the drain. I don’t think I ever stiffed anyone on a tip before. The food industry is way too competitive these days to tolerate the grumpy olé school waitress. Too bad for the Sportsman Lodge because they have upgraded the hotel and café only to skimp on the service help. The food btw wasn’t bad.

We were in the area and hadn’t been to the Sportsmen’s Logde in about 15 years. The food was tasty, but after 15 minutes I had to ask a busser to get the waiter to take our drink orders. Then the female server came by but was very short with us and she never checked on us. We were there over an hour for a lunch on Thursday with only a few other people in there. There was more than enough staff, they were just all hanging out around the cash register. It was very pricey($ 60 for 3 people for small lunch). Sadly it’ll be another 15 years IF we ever decide to go back.

Great food totally worth every penny. I had the studio burger with garlic fries and it was amazing better then the Roosevelt Hotel Burger joint. The garlic fries were amazing I had never had any that tasted so good. The menu is just one page with the backside having the drink menu. It’s nice to find a place that doesn’t have an over abundance of menu items. Short and sweet with the basic café fair. I was never there before so I can’t say as to what it used to be like before the remodel but now the feel and the layout is really nice.

I just ate here last week while staying at the Sportsmen’s Lodge hotel. The cute little café has just completed a renovation. It’s clean, fresh, good service and good food. They’ve re-vamped the menu, while still sticking to their roots of café food. I had the veggie panini with melted brie. It was great. Worth checking out if you’re in the area.

This review is for the service, not the food. I really should say lack of service. 3 of us went in for dinner and sat down. About 10 – 15 mins later, no acknowledgement. Moved our seats to the back part since someone burnt toast and the front part of the place stunk. Still no acknowledgement. Had to go to the waiter and ask him to come take our order! Were we invisible? Another table who had the better waiter ordered after us and got their food first. I asked the other waiter(wish I got his name, he’s great) where our food was and he brought it over since it just came up. Lord knows where our guy went. Worst part… we had maybe taken one bite of our meals when our original, rarely seen waiter brought us the check. Um, we may want something else, jerk! The one star is for the better waiter… he is great… everyone else: NO!

Been to a few events at the Sportsman’s Lodge and its always so pleasant. The one that of course I remember the most was my sisters wedding reception. Everything from the planning with the coordinator to the actual day of the wedding had a great turn out. On the day of the reception everything looked so beautiful and whimsical. The staff at all times were on it making sure that everything kept running smooth. The only down fall was the bar. For Pete’s sake we paid for an all night open bar! They were starting to close it up and we had not noticed until some guests were talking about it and going over to the bar to pay for their drinks! seriously! We headed over there and let them know, not to even think about it we paid extra for all of our guest to have as much alcohol as possible(of course, responsibly) and at no charge to them. let’s be honest here… people go to wedding receptions to eat and drink period(AND maybe to talk about the other guests… just sayin) ! Anywho all in all it was a great evening, and I would consider going back to the Lodge.

My husband and I had just come from a pretty bad experience(another recent review) at another hotel we had booked through expedia. First, let me say that expedia totally had our back!!! If you ever want to feel as if you have representation… much like a realtor has your back as you buy a house… expedia is the way to go… when booking a hotel… they refunded our money, thanked us for the feedback and gave us a $ 50 voucher! Well, after the night we had before anything was going to be better according to my poor hubby who was much more disappointed than I was… but… when he came back out of the hotel from registering… he was beaming. It was almost funny. Not that he is a snob… well, maybe a touch… he looked as if he wanted to cry he was so happy. First let me back track, the last hotel was in a pretty shady part of town sandwiched between a couple of strip places. I knew when we got off the freeway & heard him say… «Oh great area» sarcastically, the poor hotel was not going to do. But if you know Studio City at all, you know that you are in a much more upscale and established area, with custom home neighborhoods surrounding it. So… they had us at HELLO… we got a $ 25 breakfast voucher from the hotel on top of our $ 50 expedia credit. The lobby was old hollywood and the staff all had this kind of old school customer service grace. Opening the door for us etc… The room was amazing with a poolside view and a great balcony overlooking everything… after the view of cigarette buts on a rooftop in what they called a suite in our last hotel… it was a breath of fresh air to look out our window. We had a fridge in our room that we never used except for a diet coke that I bought out of the vending machine but it was nice to have! The bed was comfy, the room was quiet and plush for the price. The price was great even without the voucher. We have learned that you get what you pay for and it is important to listen to the reviews. The pool was crystal clear and sooo warm. I wish it had been warmer the days we stayed or I would have been in it daily! Instead, I walked around the hotel for my work out about 4 times. Our only complaint which might have cost them a half a star(but I didn’t bother to take away one whole star since Unilocal doesn’t do half stars) was that they didn’t mention that parking is $ 10 a night which may just be a standard thing in LA(though the first hotel did not charge… and this lot’s parking had plenty of parking so it wasn’t a matter of needing to charge) they didn’t mention it upon check in. So… our $ 50 voucher covered that one. I read the reviews on the restaurant and maybe it was because we were there on a Monday a little after 11, after the breakfast rush and before the lunch rush but it was great. We had good food and a charming waiter that was very attentive. Our daughter lives around the corner so we went and picked her up and it was a perfect start to our day. In conclusion… I would recommend this place! Both the restaurant and hotel… not pricey but you get the feel that you are in a more upscale and pricey establishment with the respect that goes with it! We will definitely be back!

Review for events center: Pros: beautiful big banquet hall with a stage and beautiful chandeliers. Ceremony site can fit tons of people. Cons: the two rooms that can fit 250 guest are attached to smaller rooms which are separated by wall panels. This means you can hear everything that is going on in the room next door. No thanks. 8 or 9 different rooms that can be rented means a few restrooms to be shared with guests from other parties. Dirty pond water. Ceremony site is nothing special.
