Umami Burger

So after almost 5-​years, I have returned to Umami. I feel my first review was a little harsh since Umami isn’t as pricey as my first review may have suggested. The burgers there are still amazing. I feel the price has come down and the taste to cost ratio has greatly improved. The service was excellent and the K-​BBQ burger is a newer burger that was delicious. Great job Umami!

Went with the famous truffle Burger which has aioli, cheese, and truffle along with a side of onion rings which were cooked to perfection. Definetely recommend the onion rings!
Experience at Umami was very nice as servers were very kind. Decoration is attractive and perfect for socializing. Included with the great service they do have a bar and plenty of parking available. A must try if you love burgers.

I’m always one to give restaurants a second chance.
The first time i tried this particular Umami i was severely disappointed, my burger was sub par and for some reason had a glob of horse radish in it that was not specified in the ingredients. I also ordered the truffle fries, which ended up being a goopy soupy mess with a few fries in them. Now my husband and i are always willing to give a restaurant a second chance because as true foodies we always hope for the best and so we thought what the heck lets give this place another try! We both ordered «The Umami» cooked medium and decided to take it home to enjoy. We both take bites into our burger and to our extreme disappointment they were raw! Not just undercooked, medium rare or rare beef, i mean RAW! Like in Gordon Ramsey’s words «that beef was still mooing!» considering the upscale prices and i mean up in scale! For 2 burgers it was $ 30, we should have received great burgers! But unfortunately i will most likely not return. Not to mention the manager was not too friendly on the phone and simply offered me two burgers for my next visit. I really hope we don’t get food poisoning. What a shame, i had such high expectations.

I was soooo not impressed. Very small menu, small portions, small location. The beet salad was nothing to write home about and the truffle burger was dry. The fries and tater tots were eh. Even the the fruity drink was waaaay to strong with alcohol. The only thing good was they’re home made ketchup and free parking in the back parking lot. Not worth the $$. The Counter is WAY better. Sorry Umami…

Excellent food! My only complaints would have to be the portion size and the price. But if you’re willing to pay a pretty penny for some damn good burgers then look no further.

YAY! A small quaint place in Studio City. My husband was craving for a really good burger and he decided on Umami. Definitely a cheat day for me. We both had the Truffle Burger. Umami is known for the TRUFFLE Burger because of the TRUFFLE aioli and cheese and more TRUFFLE! I had sweet potato fries and hubby had the onion rings. I’ve had the TRUFFLE Fries before and it’s delicious. Yup, TRUFFLE cheese on top of the fries.
Servers are very friendly. Great vibe. Love the décor too. Cute old Hollywood red chairs with bling bling chandeliers dangling from the ceiling. They have a full bar at this location. Lots of parking space in the back. We sat next to a couple that had their kid’s birthday party and the kids were very excited as expected as they were all having fun. We didn’t mind it as we have kids but when we asked our server for our bill, he said that the couple picked up our tab for the inconvenience. We were blind sided but appreciated the very nice gesture. Thanks to the very nice couple and you know, I’m paying it forward!

I love the interior of this place. It’s my fantasy bedroom. (If I lived alone).
Ordered the K BBQ burger. Cooked just the way I asked, very tasty, kimchi wasn’t overpowering. Bf ordered the Truffle burger. He liked it.
The bf ordered truffle fries, I ordered sweet potato fries. I wasn’t a big fan of the truffle fries (bf liked them), but the sweet potato fries were good. We kind of overdid it on our order. We couldn’t finish all the fries. 1 order would have been good for the both of us.
Service was great. The guys were really nice and attentive.
*Plenty of parking in the back lot.

Service was great the food was amazing I got the truffle burger with truffle fries everything was freshly made and didn’t take long. The atmosphere here is amazing very comfortable and relaxing

Mediocre food at best. There are so many burger places today that I was expecting to be pleasantly surprised, but that just didn’t happen. I had a manly burger, a full order of thin fries, and an amber ale. The burger was dry yet uncommonly greasy. The ale was strong but its taste did not fit the meal. The best item was the thin fries, and you can’t really have a competitive advantage based on thin fries.

After dining at Unami Burger I am a bit unimpressed with the craze of this place. To start off, my Moscow mule was weak & served in a water glass that I finished in no time. My date & I ordered the Cheesy Tater Tots to start & to be honest they get a 1 star rating. Ew.
Next our burgers came. I ordered the Ahi Tuna burger; it was absolutely delicious… Yet my dates Black Bean Burger was on the opposite end of the spectrum, definitely not good. Our server Brian was a bit awkward but had good dessert recommendations I guess that’s all you need right?

I’ve visited this location numerous times. The burgers have always been flavorful and just like they were ordered. At Umami don’t expect to have things exactly your way, but it’s not the location, it’s just the chain in general. You usually can’t have things added (i.e, lettuce, tomato etc), and I’m not sure about taking things off too, but that shouldn’t be an issue. I’m not the kind to be picky about anything so if you like more customization the chain in general may not be your type of place, but that’s the way they roll, and it seems to work.
This location has a cool modern look, service has always been good, and the food and drinks are tasty. Love me some jalapeño ranch sauce!

These burgers are A1. The flavors that this place provides is just off the charts. I have been here a few times and my favorite burger so far is the Truffle Burger. The Truffle Burger doesnt have to many texture condiments on it, which I love having textures, ie. (lettuce, onion etc). but the flavor profile is great enough to forget all those thing i love.
The other burger I had was the «Throwback» which has 2 3.5oz burgers on it with some cheddar cheese, soy pickles, miso mustard. The flavor of this is amazing and I would most definitely order food from here again. These burgers are EXTRA filling so if this is a lunch visit I DONT ADVISE you eat the whole burger… take a friend and split the burger and get your own order fries… If you do decide to eat the entire burger be cautious about the side of fries otherwise this meal will «sit you down for a smooth soft 10 count».
We were waited on by Dana and she was perfect with her conversations and getting everything we needed in the mean time.

Can’t go wrong with the service and the food here!!! Love the Halloween theme they have going on today! All the waiters are all dressed up :))

I cannot stop thinking about the Truffle Burger, I literally cannot stoppppppp!!!
From the truffle burger to the truffle cheese to the truffle aoli, MAN, this burger is the bees knees! I LOVE IT!!! Their buns are super cute with their logo branded into the bun, and the burgers are hearty, delicious, and one where it is good til the last bite!
They have a great menu, I also recommend getting a side to go with your burger, the cheese-​filled tater tots are my favorite side.

When it comes to the art and interior of this restaurant, this Umami Burger is definitely different compared to the other ones I’ve been to. When I walked in, I thought I was walking into a different restaurant. In addition to their very stylish big red cushioned chairs, this place looks very hip and definitely attracts a more mature crowd. Although this place is a little smaller, I like that you could have that intimate bar and dine ambiance.
The food was expectedly delicious. I’m not really a big burger fan but with an exception to Umami Burger. I usually would just order the Umami burger and truffle fries, but last night I tried their K-​BBQ and the Manly Fries. At first, «the none burger eater» side of me thought I was taking a big risk ordering K-​BBQ burger, but it turned out really good. It had caramelized kimchi and scallions on top. I love the blend of flavors and how the kimchi wasn’t too over powering. The Manly Fries, which I think weren’t on the menu, were also good. I believe they added tempura onion rings, really THICK bacon bits, and their house truffle cheese atop the thin cut CRUNCHY fries. Yes, definitely Fries on Steroids! Yummmm…
Only one tiny criticism I could say about this place is that when we walked in, there was really no one to greet us. So we were kinda confused if this place was an only a «bar sitting» kinda place which we weren’t really accustomed to being its an Umami burger joint. But other than that, the place was hip, food was great, and our server was pleasant and greeted us with a big smile!

James was our server today and he was absolutely, positively wonderful! He was very friendly and attentive.
The food was fantastic as well. The burgers we order was fresh and delicious.
We’ll definitely be back!

I was very disappointed with the food. This place is know for truffle burgers which I tired and I did not like one bite. Then I ended up ordering a turkey burger instead. When the turkey burger came back it had nothing on it that I asked for.
The only positive about this place was the waitress who was so nice and kept apologizing. Not one time did the manager come over to see what was wrong with the food. I was hoping to like this place. The food quality was okay.
They have a very nice bar area where you can enjoy a drink or just eat. The only reason I cam giving them 2 stars because the waitress felt so bad. My friends who used to eat here a lot where very disappointed.

Seating here sucks! Other reviews are right, you’re literally breathing on each other here. For drinks I ordered a Dirty Shirley which was an «adult soda». Tasted like medicine – gross. The truffle burger was awesome, I just didn’t like that the meat kept falling apart. The tiny truffle fries were pretty good and so was the monkey cake. We sat at the bar which I kind of regret because the bartender was unfriendly and I was ignored at least twice.

Came here for the first time last night. Place is small but the interior is nice. It wasn’t as packed when I went (8ish on a Friday night)– waited only about 5 minutes to be seated. Staff is friendly and helpful with the menu (since it was my first time coming there, our server explained what’s on the menu).and their burgers were amazing! I ordered the Ahi Tuna burger… heaven & my boyfriend ordered the Sunny side burger. he liked it as well. We also ordered drinks and they were strong. which is good if you like your drink that way (if not, ask for more limes to dilute your drink lol). Overall, I loved my experience. Definitely coming back here.
