I’ve been to Ultra Salon a number of times now, and I will keep going back. The four stars are for the great prices on mani/pedis, the quality of the work that is done, and the super nice nail technician. But be warned, this type of atmosphere may not be for everyone. Because she is the only technician, you will be the only customer there. It is quiet(but I like that). It is not a typical spa-like atmosphere(but I don’t care). As long as the tools and stations are clean, which they certainly seem to be, I don’t really mind some disorganization. At times, I’ve had fun conversation, and at other times, I’ve closed my eyes and just enjoyed my services. No frills, no pressure, good results.

My husband purchased a groupon so I can get some pre-baby pampering. Their site is really nice and almost misleading — you would think with such a fancy site and the location of the place in Sudbury, you’d actually be going to a nice Spa. This is not the case! I don’t want to repeat what the previous comments said so all I will say is I experienced the same PLUS — I got a fungus on my feet just a week or so later. So needless to say I will not be returning to this locale.

I found that my nail technician was very kind. She was very welcoming when I first walked in, and took a lot of time shaping my fingernails(I had a mani/pedi). She wasn’t chatty, which I liked. However, the salon felt really strange. It was clear that some kids must come there after school, because there were art supplies and an electronic keyboard for practicing piano. It was not a «spa like» atmosphere. When it came time to find a polish, it was obvious that the nail polishes were really old, and only ¼ of the way full. Usually, I have a hard time deciding on one, because there are so many good choices. This time, I had a hard time finding ONE that I liked. As for the pedicure, the arms of the chairs where you soak your feet wre kind of short, which made it a bit uncomfortable, but I was able to figure out the remote pretty easily, which is good(sometimes those chairs have these crazy remotes and before you know it, you are vibrating and shaking like crazy). However, the polish on my nails started flaking off THAT day. I found little pieces all over my kitchen counters. My friend had her nails done there too, and she found the same thing. I would highly suggest that they switch products and use some kind of a bonder(like Orly bonder, which is great). Oh, and you cannot go with a friend. There is just one technician working there at a time, so you have to do them back to back. Overall, very nice technician, but I would not go back because of the stark unrelaxing environment and the poor quality products used.

For what it is, this place is great! There is only one employee as far as I can tell, but she is attentive and friendly. Yes, the atmosphere is a little different — kids there, no music, etc. — but I found that a refreshing. I don’t really care as long as it’s hygienic. Could use some more current polish colors, but otherwise, I thought it was great. I’d definitely stop in again.

I went here a couple times off a groupon that I bought since it was close to my home. It was a little depressing inside, not what I had expected. Seems to be just the owner that works there and she had her small children there both times(maybe they were out of day care/school those days), that didn’t really bother me, just thought it was different. There is not much atmosphere or sense of serentiy/spa like feel that I was hoping for. No music, no tv, no art, no small talk. Took a couple weeks to book an appointment on-line. I’ll stick with my other cheap go to nail place, but she did do a decent job. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

I recently went to Ultra Salon as I purchased a Groupon, $ 20 for a manicure and pedicure. I took a look at their Unilocal page prior to buying the Groupon and saw the photo posted and decided it would be a nice place to get a mani/pedi. The Groupon must have been really popular, as I had to book about a month and half out after purchasing the mani/pedi, no big deal! I booked a Sunday appointment for 4:15pm. I got there and was surprised to see that there was only one employee and one customer. I waited about 15 minutes before I was seen. Overall, the mani/pedi was great but it was a little awkward. After the other customer left it was just me and the one employee and it was dead silent. No music, no TV, no talking. I guess in a way it was relaxing. The salon itself could use a good cleaning. They have hair stations but it doesn’t look like they have been used in months as they were piled high with stuff. The whole salon was packed with stuff and it was dusty. It lacked any sort of organization and needed a good cleaning. I probably won’t go back, as I usually like my salons to be a little cleaner. If the front of the house is dirty can you imagine what goes on behind close doors? Do not use the photo on Unilocal as a reference point. The place DOESNOT look like that.

What a great find… this is a small salon and not super fancy, but the owner is very nice. She took immense care and had a lot of attention to detail with my mani/pedi. My nails look terrific, and we had a lovely conversation since I was the only one there. Will definitely return!
