Sushi lunch special plus had the seaweed salad. Chose the spicy tuna role plus 7 pieces of sushi(chef choice): salmon, salmon belly, tuna, yellow tail, hamachi, shrimp, and toro. Everything was excellent quality. Already ate the first 4 pieces of sushi. Wasn’t that hungry when I came in and now I’m thinking I’ll keep eating. Total bill was $ 25. #WhoKnewJerseySushi?

Have passed this place for the past five years and never wanted to try it, but last night my husband and I finally did. Very deceiving from the outside. Staff was great, especially sushi chef Jason. All were very friendly and nice to talk to. Their menu is huge and they have a lot of cool, funky rolls. Rolls were fresh as was the sashimi. My husband got a soup that looked like clams in a broth. He said it was very tasty. I liked the fact that they had wine and beer. The staff mentioned they are moving down the street to a bigger location over the summer so I am anxious to check that out. Their present location was very busy for a Thursday evening.

Time for an update: Went back here tonight even though I had previously had trouble with service. Luckily, it was not packed since it was a Thursday night. With the service out of mind, I was able to focus on my food only. I had the«Trust Me» dinner which featured an appetizer, and an arrangement of sashimi and nigiri. All of it was really tasty! The sashimi pieces were a bit small, but the nigiri was incredible. Sushi Bada is back on my list of favorite sushi spots.

Sean is an artist and his medium is fish. Every time we have eaten at Bada, he creates yet another masterpiece. By far the best in presentation, freshness and quality of all the places in Rockland county and northern New Jersey. I can believe anyone could give Bada less than a 5! I know it is not possible, but I give Bada a 10!

I have been to this particular spot more than a handful of times and after my last few visits I can honestly say this is a 5 star + place to eat. The food is fresh and dynamic, the atmosphere intimate and relaxing, the wait staff are involved and knowledgable. This place has a particular feel to it that most others strive for and fail to meet, its young and vibrant but still just serves truly excellent food. Go there and I promise you will enjoy.

Sushi is delicious, best around, hands down. It only gets 3 stars for me though due to pick up chaos. The wait to pick up is always way too long, they often leave things out of the bag, and even gave us the wrong order. My husband had to drive back to get the correct order making our wait to eat even longer. We would order more if things were run better.

This is one of the best sushi places in Rockland County. I’ve really enjoyed my meals at this place, and the sushi chefs prepare things very fresh, with great plating and imagination. It can get a bit crowded at times, as it’s a small place like you would find in NYC, but it’s worth it.

I was traveling for work and craved some good quality vegetables, and some wine. This was one of the few good options that were open after 9PM. Although we finished around 10PM, we were not rushed in anyway to pay the bill. This place easily makes you want to stay longer and order another drink. I spent $ 50 including tips just for my portion, so it does add up. FOOD: I ordered a glass of Chardonnay and a cup of hot tea. Miso mushroom soup(this was the best miso soup I’ve had) Vegetable gyoza(tasted fresh, wrap was soft/sticky) Vegetable maki — as a vegan, this was well crafted and wasn’t boring at all, and there are many other vegetable maki options, comes in 6 pieces. Vege Heaven(cucumber wrap) — this was my favorite out of all the other dishes we ordered, flavorful, crisp, fresh, and can be heaven for vegans. No dairy/eggs involved here. **the tuna mango salad my friend ordered looked delicious!

Some of the worst sushi/Japanese food I’ve ever had. Started with a dumpling soup, which was in a super tasty(although slightly oversalted) dashi broth. Gave me high hopes for the meal, but it took a steep dive downhill from there. The«salad» was a plate of lettuce absolutely doused in ginger dressing. They didn’t even pretend it was a semi-legitimate salad by throwing on some carrot shavings and a couple pieces of cucumber/tomato like most sushi places do. Sashimi was inedible. Sushi was intolerably spicy — I love spicy food, but when I get a spicy tuna roll with some jalapeño/red chili/fresh tuna on top, I don’t expect my mouth to be on fire the way it was. The service was pretty bad. We were scolded when we walked in for being late on our reservation — he was right that we should have called in advance, but it’s poor form to have your first impression of a restaurant be that. They rushed our appetizers off the table because the sushi was ready(grabbing at dishes weren’t even finished before asking if we wanted to continue eating). They also took the liberty of putting yellowtail in a roll when my sister asked for one of the four fishes noted on the menu to be excluded. She doesn’t like yellowtail either, and the waiter had a hard time understanding why she was mad when they did honor her request of excluding whitefish, despite replacing it with another fish without asking first. Just an overall terrible experience. Went here exclusively because of the positive Unilocal ratings, but it seems that I went to a very different restaurant than the one described on here. I’ve had MUCH better sushi for half the price. This place is charging NYC prices for super market-level sushi in Suffern.

This is some of the best sushi I have had in a long time. I love the atmosphere of the whole restaurant, and the staff is extremely friendly. It is always a good sign when everyone in the place seems to be regulars and the waiters know them all by name. Their menu is definitely different than most sushi places, they seem to be Korean owned, because they have some Korean style dishes. We started off the night with Avocado fries, or really tempura Avocado. They were awesome, crispy on the outside, and creamy on the inside. The dipping sauce was a spicy mayo concoction that had just the right bite that was complimented by the sweet avocado. For dinner I had the chirashi, the fish was fresh, melt in your mouth, greatness. And the rice at the bottom was cooked to perfection and had the right sticky consistency. My girlfriend had some rolls, which were more fish than rice(how it should be). If you are looking for a change of pace sushi spot, you need to try out Bada. You will not be disappointed.

An absolute diamond in the rough! Bada is not just the best sushi in the area but the best restaurant as well. The fish is very good and the presentation is fantastic. The sushi chefs and owners are all incredibly nice and the service is top notch. I particularly enjoy the bamboo maki roll and the salmon nigiri. The crispy rice appetizer is also incredible. Sad that we moved away but looking forward to visiting again soon!

Sean you always rock! Good to see you again buddy your style and taste beyond compare. Bada is great always fresh and creative. I need Sean to move to Atlanta and open up shop. Not having bada down the street is a huge gap for us now that we have moved. Don’t take this place for granted, it’s a gem in a strip mall.

Best sushi in Rockland county in my opinion. Delicious and fresh with lots of unique and innovative rolls. Service is always excellent every time I go during lunch.

The sushi here is still amazing but the service has went way downhill. The last few times I have come here it’s taken very long to get any type of service and my meal usually doesn’t arrive for over an hour. During my last visit we spent over 2 and a half hours at the restaurant. This type of slow service is just unacceptable and I don’t see myself returning.

Ugh, I hate that the name of this place just makes me want to make BADABOOM jokes like all the time. It’s so uncool, but it’s so fun.(You know it. I know it. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t know it.) We find that there really isn’t much reason to visit the Mahwah/Suffern area, but there’s a couple food spots in tjhe area that are really drawing us back in(Ernie’s Ice Cream — please. eat. it. all.) and now Bada which has an infinite number of inventive sushi rolls — like truly unique! like they light things on fire! they deep fry things! they roll things up together that you could never imagine !(or you could imagine once you read their incredibly expansive menu!) We tried: + Avocado Bomb that everyone on here loves and raves about and agree completely that it is worth all the acclaim — tastes like a salmon tartare dressed in light citrus and spiced just right. + Play Bada which is lit on fire and resembles a barbecued sushi roll in the best, most flavorful way /Black Spider which has soft shell crab inside and eel outside — completely fine, but not as flavorful as the others + River to Ocean with spicy tuna, eel and ginger crisp — why isn’t all ginger crisp? Definitely my favorite roll of the night, but those three ingredients are probably my most favorite things in the world Seriously such a good spot in the most unexpected place. I wish Bada was in New York, but if wishes were fishes, I’d make it into sushi and eat it(you totally saw that coming!)

Awesome sushi spot. I always come here with the family, and since I’m not paying I go ham. I pretty much stick to their speciality rolls, and I’ve tried so many different ones it’s hard to remember. Just choose ones you think sound good and you’ll be satisfied. The owner Sean is also a cool guy, and sometimes we’ll sit at the bar and he’ll serve us whatever he feels like. He makes some really neat stuff — one item that sticks out is the avocado bomb. It’s basically a ball of salmon/spicy mayo mixture in a shell of fresh avocado — super good. The staff is all super friendly as well — you’re guaranteed a great time!
