This is one of my 3 favorite courses in the Hampton Roads area. The 18th is a beautiful and challenging hole. My favorite hole there by far. There seems to be a constant maintenance crew out there. They do keep the course maintained very well, but it can be a more noticeable annoyance than I am used to on other courses. Staff is very friendly, and the majority I golfers I see around are more than friendly. I cannot say I’ve had anything but a good time there. I recommend this course to all my fellow golfers, both new to the game and to the more experienced looking for a challenge.

Very impressed. Always have been. I’ve been a big fan for years. Fond memories of high school golf and VSGA qualifiers are there at Sleepy Hole. #18 is by far the best hole in Tidewater. They’ve made a few changes to the hole over the years(tree removal, bunker redesign) but the hole is still quite challenging with a beautiful view on the green. The Obici House has been revamped in the last couple of years and it’s quite gorgeous from the outside. Not sure of its history but there’s lots of it. The course is in great shape(for May), is challenging from all the tees and is enjoyable for all golf levels to play. Highly recommended.

Went to a golf tourney here and I was not impressed at all. They were doing a lot of what appeared to be drainage work on the course and it was in rough shape. Even the holes that werent being worked on looked rough. The greens werent well manicured and many of the trees looked as if Hurricane Isabel had wreaked too much havoc on them. In addition, there was no beverage cart and the course manager was irritating enough to keep asking us to speed up play. I thought we were playing fast enough considering it was a small morning shotgun tourney. Lastly, the clubhouse is a double-wide trailer and it just wasnt very pleasing to the eye. Considering that they promote the Obici House on the 18th Hole as an attraction, I was disappointed to see the Obici House in such horrible repair. I now have seen that they tore down part of the Obici House to turn that into the clubhouse. Although I am disappointed to see that they tore down part of the house and the carriage house that was next to it, it will definitely look better than a double wide. In addition, the barn they use for the carts is a mess and they have trash all around it. I still have the image of the tail gate from a pick up truck sitting next to tree in my mind. I dont know what they charge for a normal round, but I paid $ 50 for the tourney, and I felt like they should have given back about $ 10 of that. If the price is affordable, I would go back, but not for $ 50.
