The fish here are absolutely amazing! We typically order the Cajun Pasta and Blackened Red Fish.

I was so happy when I entered the restaurant. Cajun food signs and pictures of The food on the walls. The set up at the restaurant was similar to other Cajun places in South Louisiana. That was pretty much it. I am starting a campaign to certify food places that say they have Cajun food. When my food arrived in a basket, which is similar to walk-up restaurants that have great food. Then, everything looked the same. A dark brown crust over all the food making it look like blocks. I could hardly tell what the food was. The coating was so thick I was able to separate it from the meat. The fact that it was frozen seafood would have been tolerable if it had been flavorful and not over-fried. It was horrible. I ate the small piece of garlic bread. It was good. The fried onion rings were almost perfect. So they do know the color and texture Cajun food should be. It was a seafood platter, but I had ever seen what I finally decided was a piece of fish. Awful. The seafood balls, not real sure what they were, but just some breeding with no flavor. Again, stop calling this Cajun food.

If I could do zero stars I would. I was served hot coleslaw, possible health hazard if it was Not refrigerated, and I think it was not. The fish was cold and chicken tough. When I brought this to the managements attention the so called area manager(Salima)said she would send me pictures of her thermometer testing food temperatures. Really?! That can be faked! She expected me to store food in my refrigerator and return to restaurant another time. That location is 40 minutes from us! Bad food and even worse service. Avoid at all costs or get sick!

Small location and no frills. Plastic wear and plastic plates. Got the family pack fried catfish and shrimp with coleslaw/onion rings and added large hush puppies. Good sized portions and not greasy. The fish and hush puppies were pretty good. The shrimp, onion rings and coleslaw were alright. All the food was pretty decent. I tend to like a longer fry than what they do though. I wish the shrimp and especially the onion rings had gone a little longer. For the price though, this place is solid.

Was pleased with the over taste of the food. I’m been here many times, prices have increase with times however food is still good.

I frequent this place often. I always have a good experience. It wasn’t until a recent experience that I knew I had to give the manager, ernie, credit for making it right. If it wasn’t for him, I probably would not return. I ordered a family pack 30 pieces of fried catfish and redfish. I had someone else pick it up so I wasn’t able to look it over before heading home. Long story short, the way they packed my to go order left the food soggy and not fresh so I suggest you look over your order before leaving. I immediately called them and ernie, the manager, rectified my issue right away even offering for me to come in so they can get my order right. Now, that’s what I call customer service and professionalism. Still a very satisfied customer here!

Apparently, they’ve changed ownership and/or management. I really enjoyed their fried chicken. However, the last two times they didn’t have white meat. This latest visit, the guy told me they no longer sell white meat fried chicken. Both times I just turned around and walked out. This place use to be very crowded during the lunch hour. My last two trips I was the only one there and both times it was at 12pm. So, I’ll find another place for my chicken/seafood fix. Just an assumption, but they probably changed the quality of their seafood. When a restaurant starts cutting quality then that’s not a good sign… especially when it comes to seafood. After going to Fish Place once per week, I decided I won’t be returning.

Yesterday, we drove 25 minutes to eat here. Place was not packed which was unusual. Walked in and most of the prices were covered up. We asked about all you can eat and it was almost $ 20 a person. Instead we ordered entrée, appetizer, and soup: Gumbo Boudin shrimp Fish Chicken Beans and rice Jambalaya Crab 1 Stuffed jalapeño We fought over the Boudin and jalapeño. Boudin was stuffed well, nice flavor, little meat. Jalapeño, now that has flavor, wish the rest of our meal would have been a bit more memorable. Honorable mention is beans and rice, though some of beans only included skin The gumbo tasted salty, soft mini shrimp, and it seems that there was a shortcut on the soup base. Overall: Service was good, tight seating, and food was decent Total was $ 28 with water and tea. We miss how it used to be good and at better price.

The service was friendly. The place is definitely nothing to look at. My fiancé and I had the gumbo, which we both agreed was pretty damn good.(She’s from New Orleans, so trust her more than me.) I had a fried platter with shrimp and catfish, all of which was excellent. The red beans were pretty good. The hush puppies were really good. My lady had the fried oysters, which were definitely cooked a little too long. She still said they were really good though, so I’m not really marking them off much for that. Overall, we like it. It’s a good place to go get some quick yummy seafood.

The Fish Place I knew no longer exists here. It seems as though management has changed and the place is a hollow shell of its former self. Allow me to briefly explain so you can avoid the mistake I made by choosing to dine here. Upon ordering my meal, mind you, the same meal I’ve ordered here since I first started frequenting the restaurant I was told that it would cost me $ 1 to substitute a side on my order. At first I thought this lady was joking and I was at a loss for words, so I asked again. Ignoring this early warning that things had changed, I proceeded to complete my order of a large fish taco meal. Upon completing my order I waited to be handed a cup so I could get a drink. I was then told that the large fish taco meal doesn’t come with a drink. This absolutely blew my mind. After spending almost $ 12 dollars for a «meal» I was not getting a drink. The lady behind the register simply smiled and told me this is how it has ways been. Well, lady, I’m here to tell you that this is not the case. This meal, the meal I have never had a problem ordering until today with you has always allowed the substitution of a side and a drink with the meal. It is not my intention to put this place down, but to warn future customers of the changes that are taking place. As for me, I will no longer have my meals here.

You know how you keep going to a place, and it just becomes so ‘normal’ that you don’t even think about leaving a review for others to see? Yeah, Fish Place is that for us. They offer Groupon deals semi-regularly and they send out coupons every couple of weeks if you’re on their mailing list, so it’s easy to get a decent meal for your dollar. We like to get a Po Boy Combo each — the large gets you two sandwiches, plus one side(and the sides are great — I have yet to find better onion rings in this town) and a drink. They’ve always treated us well on the few occasions there was a problem with our food. My only gripe I guess is I miss their old lemonade dispensers — now there’s only the stuff from the soda fountain — but the new iced tea machine is a welcome addition. The place is small and often pretty quiet, but I hope it sticks around for years to come.

The best fried catfish around town! I absolutely love this place and it’s affordable. Sometimes there’s a Groupon I can use for Fish Place. I usually get the red beans & rice, fried catfish and fried shrimp. Also, it comes with the garlic bread which is also fantastic! I took a star off because, yes, this place should clean their tables off more.

Sadly, it’s just not what it used to be. When it first opened you couldn’t’ get in the door, then something changed. The quality of the food and the taste is not the same. The Crab Balls used to be amazing, today they had no crab, unless you consider the small bit of fake«krab» and they tasted like very expensive hush puppies. Bummed

Great bang for the buck. There is a Fish Place closer to my home, but the drive to this location is better. Good food. Very consistent.

Pretty decent food. I ordered a Large Shrimp Ettouffe and a Large Seafood Gumbo for my family on a recent visit. The flavors were good for the most part. My main gripe was the Seafood Gumbo. There was barely any seafood in it! Actually, the main protein in it was probably the Sausage. Seems like they skimped out on the seafood big time and that was a big disappointment considering the price.

Mediocre and overpriced. I’ve seen this place several times around and finally decided to go. The parking lot was packed and reviews were good so that’s always a good sign. Inside could use a lot of cleaning though… Extremely cramped. And chairs touching each other while no one was in them. First, they had signs for crawfish for $ 6.99 and $ 5.99 located in several locations in the restaurant. One even scratched off $ 6.99 for $ 5.99. Hand made posters and printed one with each too. WHICHISIT?!? Second, when we got in, the restaurant just got empty yet our order took foreverrrr… I swear it was around 30 mins for a small, quick place like this. Not sure why when all the stuff was so small and simple. Third, the food was pretty bland and portions were bad. I got the redfish with onion rings and mixed veggies for $ 10.99. You get one measly little filet, 4 bland onion rings and a few burnt veggies. My bf got the shrimp and chicken for 13.98 and he wanted a baked potato. The chicken portion looked fine but 4 little pieces of shrimp and he did not like his green beans. I’ve decided to put this on my list of not to go back to. The cashier was nice but it doesn’t make up for the place itself.

Amazing and simple fish taco. Outstanding service. Very nice blackened salmon. Been here maybe a dozen times and never walked away disappointed. Manager is very friendly, good personality, and always feel welcome here. Interior is simple no frills, but comfortable. Today their a/c was out so felt like Louisiana :-)

The first thing I noticed upon stepping into this establishment was how sticky the floor was. If I stood too long, I thought I might get stuck permanently! No points for décor either; their layout is glum. We went during lunch hour, and there were only 2 other occupied tables. With so few customers and so many orders of the same dish, one would assume food would be cooked and served quickly. Not so! I think I waited 15 minutes for my tacos to arrive. Food was about average. I ordered their blackened redfish tacos. Wasn’t disappointed. This place’s fish tacos are about on-par with Chacho’s, yet inferior to Berryhill’s fish tacos. If you’re looking for a place to get full, this place is certainly cheap — 9 bucks for their«large order»(4 fresh fish tacos). Another nice perspective is that you get to pick from a variety of seafood(redfish, catfish, and I think even tilapia or shrimp) to go into your taco. Ultimately, I can’t recommend making the long trek all the way out to Sugarland just for average tacos when there are so many other choices around town.

A bit on the salty-side, the food is decent for a seafood fix on-the-go. I’d recommend ordering to-go as the seating area is quite limited. Heck, you might not even have a spot to sit at while waiting for your to-go order. So far, the sides I enjoy are the green beans, and dirty rice. Their fried catfish is pretty good(fresh, good texture, not«seafoody» tasting) and it’s lightly breaded in cornmeal before it’s deep fried. Their dirty rice is good but quite salty… the green beans are tasty but extremely buttery. Overall, it’s a good place to get a decent meal but beware of the wait.
