Went here with a some friends during lunch on a Sunday and I am quite impressed! They have so much to choose from their menu. The hibachi really caught my eye! You can’t possibly try everything on one trip so we will definitely be back! Best thing also… they deliver! Me and my girls wanted a Sunday fun day so we ordered some drinks(happy hour starts at 3) I got a lychee martini and my friend got the spicy Mexican martini… amazing!!! When we went it was only one server basically doing everything so don’t expect the fastest service. Other than that it was overall a good experience.

The food, atmosphere, staff and location is great. It was my first time at this restaurant and I really enjoyed it except for the drink which was very very weak

Gojira is a neighborhood sushi joint with good quick food with reasonable prices. Definitely would not have discovered this location without Unilocal as it’s tucked in a neighborhood and not visible from the freeway. It’s a fun restaurant name, as Gojira is how you would pronounce Godzilla in Japanese… and the computer’s wallpaper has Godzilla on it. We ordered tonkatsu ramen, salmon teriyaki obento, and a Pikachu roll. House salad was good with thousand island dressing. The miso soup had tofu in it(which Benihana used to do but no longer). Pikachu roll was good, but I don’t know how it looks like a Pikachu. They had a lot of other interesting food names as well. Salmon teriyaki obento was definitely better than Benihana’s. I really liked the tempura as it had a satisfying crunch and hot out of the fryer! Salmon is tender and flavorful with the teriyaki sauce. As for the ramen, I was pleasantly surprised it was a decent bowl as I’ve been looking for good ramen for a while. It’s not the best bowl I’ve had, but certainly hearty. The eggs were nice and gooey, noodles chewy, and broth warming and flavorful. Perhaps more depth with something like pressed garlic would add that extra punch of flavor I seek. I didn’t like the meat though. The tonkatsu meat I am accustomed to is soft and tender. This one was like pork belly samgyeopsal cut. Not soft and too chewy. Great food at reasonable prices with attentive service — somewhere I’d go for a quick sushi/ramen bite with family or friends. Things that would make this place even better are clean plates. I used my napkin to rub clean multiple dishes. The food is better than Benihana, but what Benihana excels in is presentation. The tray used for the obento box was cafeteria style, which just doesn’t sell the food, whereas Benihana does a boat. The ramen looked fine but the egg goo was leaking a bit. Salad just looked plain in the square bowl. For me, I care mostly about the taste, but presentation is the first impression of food and important… especially for my fellow co-eaters.

This place is decent enough for a neighborhood sushi place that you can occasionally count on for take-out! We have had their take out about 3 or 4 times and have never been disappointed. It’s not the greatest sushi ever, but it’s convenient for Greatwood residents!

I was actually shopping with one of my girlfriends since I was in town for the weekend, and I got hungry for sushi. I wanted to try a new place in the area, so I found Gojira. It looked new, so we went in. They have a great selection of items, and we decided to try it allllll. We had sashimi(which was very fresh), ordered the Once-Upon-A-Bite roll, and Houston Roll(H-TOWNNNN). We also ordered the Hibachi Chicken, which was so mouthwatering. Not only did their names catch our eyes, but the freshness in each food item we received was cooked to its utmost perfection. I absolutely recommend this place for anyone who is wanting a new sushi restaurant in the area(especially since there isn’t that many). I will certainly be back in a few weeks for the holidays!

First time here. When I entered(Sunday lunch) there was only one other table taken. I was here for takeout. The menu online wasn’t complete so I had to come in to order. The sushi chef greeted me as I entered as I didn’t see any hostess or waitress. A waitress came out and I asked the chef who I’m to order with. The chef took my order and offered water as I waited. He was nice. The waitress looked lost and confused, like she wasn’t sure what to do. She hadn’t spoken a word or approached me. Btw I hadn’t seen any other staff as I waited until my order was ready and some guy plunked the bill by me and walked away, not a word. I signed and left. Service needs to be worked on. Food wise I ordered my regular from everywhere I go — caterpillar, 2 spiders, a peppered tuna and a yellow tail with Jalapeño. First, the rolls weren’t tight so when I picked up the pieces, they fell apart. They were also smaller than in use to. The peppered tuna had a fishy taste, not as clean as I liked. And less peppery. All the rolls were bland. Caterpillar needed the sweet eel sauce. All together, it’s a new place so I’ll come back and give them another try and try other dishes. Prices are comparable to other sushi places in the area.

I eat lunch late due to my work schedule. I stop here at 2pm and order a beef yakatori bento box, and order of gyoza and a mojito. No one else is dining at this time– it is a little late for the lunch crowd. No worries. I find it odd that the guy making my drink is tasting it, then adjusting it. I soon find out why. When I get it, there is no fresh mint in it at all, it’s clear with lime pulp floating in it. I taste it and it has mint flavored alcohol mixed in with it. It just didn’t work. Even if they would have just come and TOLDME they had no fresh mint, I probably would have went ahead and not switched my order, but it’s a rough surprise, yuck. It destroys the essence of what a mojito is. The miso soup came out and I would have loved it, but it was warm, at best. I brought it to the attention of the waitress and she went and asked and brought me a piping hot bowl. Awesome! The gyoza was good– pan fried– but again, not very hot in the middle. Hmm. My bento box was good. I’m glad they didn’t just use iceberg lettuce for the greens. I like variation. The dressing was pretty bland. The tempura vegetables were tasty and HOT! The beef was sirloin and good, very hot as well. I added a bit of soy to the dipping sauce and it made it much better. The 3 pieces sushi was just plain crab stick, cucumber and avocado. That’s ok, that’s how they make profit on lunch specials. The white rice was cold, but that’s fine. The waitress was so kind and so sweet. I wish she could be my family’s waitress in other places! I would come back again, and based on that visit, decide whether or not to make this a regular place.

My husband and I came here on a Friday night and the place was packed. They have 2 menus, one for appetizers, kitchen food, and another menu for rolls. Being a sushi lover I was excited to try this new place, and they did not disappoint! I really enjoyed the sushi signature that very creative with variety topping, fish was fresh. My husband ordered the fire crakers chicken which I tried some, it had just the right balance of sweet and spicy. On top of that, they have a full liquor bar with lots of martinis. The table next to us oredered a spicy Mexican martini and it came highly recommended. The décor was very warm and very appealing. We will definitely be coming back to this place.

Surprisingly good for small neighborhood sushi bar. Tons of rolls(loved the Gojira roll and spicy garlic edamame) and other hot items to choose from. Lots of choices for kiddos too. Décor and music can be updated.

Being a Greatwood resident for over 15 years I have seen Asian themed restaurants come and go in this neighborhood and I can see why. This was the newest to have hit the scene and even though apprehensive I thought why not? It was the lunch hour granted, and when I walked in there, there was a large group of very loud ladies trying to decide what they wanted. But the first thing I noticed was how loud they had the music in there. What made it worst the selection of music was terrible! Along with the ladies I sensed that this lunch experience was going to be maybe a bit miserable… The server who was trying to wait on me seemed pleasant enough but probably had a headache from listening to the extremely loud ladies that he was trying to take orders from. Poor guy. I felt for him. Now he did bring me the glass of water that I asked for but after that I sat around for close to 10 minutes before I decided finally to go somewhere else. First impressions. Not enough servers. Music too loud. Not attentive enough to customers. Namely me. Can’t really say anything about the food because I left. Noticing their lunch prices… they seemed reasonable but the main menu dishes seemed kind of high. My track record with the Asian themed restaurants that have come and gone in this neighborhood have been pretty lackluster and this is one that I probably would not think of if I was in the mood. What is it with«fusion» being in the name of restaurants these days? The only thing would be the convenience of it being at the front of the neighborhood. Until then… bad first impression. Not sure if I would come back due to the vibe I got.

Ok. I promised the chef I would write a review only if the food was good. I am very picky when it comes to food. I must say the sushi was pretty darn good… I had mochi sushi last week and this was much better… I hope this place stays open, it was pretty slow when I picked up my order… I hope this review help bring you guys some clients in the Greatwood area. Special note the chik fila roll was the first time I had chicken In a Sushi roll… Very nice… You guys will be seeing me again. :)

Gojira offers great food with great service. We started off with the Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Sake. Very tasty and reasonably priced. We then went on to have the Amsterdam and Golf Course rolls. Excellent. Master Sushi Chef Vincent know how to make rolls! I highly recommend Gojiras.

Try the spicy crab salad! The sushi chef is very kind(all the staff was great), he will offer suggestions and they are all delicious! Really wish they would add a HH menu soon so I can plan a HH there with friends!!! Definitely worth another visit!
