Few days before Christmas, we were moving into our place. Our previously ordered table from high fashion home had some issues so we canceled it. So My husband and I were desperately looking for a new table so we can have a proper Christmas. We saw the Nolan extension table from another location but unfortunately sugar land was the only place that had a new one in the warehouse that can fulfill my order. So we came to pick up the table at 8:30pm, not knowing that their warehouse closes at 7:00pm. Seeing our disappointed faces, the store manager accommodated our request by rummaging through the warehouse to find our item, and then helped us get in into the car. We were so happy! Not only is the table a great table, but we were able to have it in time for Christmas.

Knick-knacks, colorful(understatement) table wares, seasonal and year round décor, limited furniture and out door items. This is Pier 1 Imports. When I entered into the store I was somewhat stunned by all the color. Tasteful color is beautiful but when some of it borders on and just plain crosses into gaudy, then it’s not pretty. That’s not to say tasteful touches cannot be found here but the overwhelmingly crammed full stock of color does make it hard to single out the tasteful. If you like kitschy seasonal décor then you’ll be in luck. I saw poufy pumpkin pillows, pumpkin rugs, Halloween rugs and Thanksgiving turkey rugs. There were also seasonal wreaths such as the rugs. Some were subtle and nice, others were a little too much. This isn’t to say I do not like seasonal décor, because I do, but overly done? No. You can be seasonal without being«too seasonal». I did like the black cat figurines. They were just cute no matter what. I love Halloween, as well, so that made some of the Halloween décor cute, too. I did check out the non seasonal rugs and they seem to all be the same color schemes. I’d like to see more variety. Most items are arranged by colors and to say the stock is large is saying it mildly. It’s almost overwhelming. The store is rather cramped from too much merchandise, the«aisles» are crowded and with all the glassware this really isn’t good. I didn’t see anything décor-wise that stood out. This isn’t anything against Pier 1 Imports. They just didn’t have what I wanted. As new stock arrives, I may find something. For those who like cutesy or humorous and even tacky coffee cups or such, they do have a big selection. To make shopping easier here, you really should know exactly what you’re looking for. That will make it easier to bypass all the clutter distractions. The sales associates were friendly and helpful and the store was clean. Clean but cluttered. I did find a simple but pretty fall decoration that can be used throughout the whole season. I also found some beverage coasters that coordinate well with my home décor. Not surprisingly, one of my dogs happily found one of the coasters to be a fun toy. I’ll be making another trip to Pier 1 to buy a replacement coaster and see if there is new merchandise.

On July 9, 2013 I ordered a Dana Slipcover — Blue Geometric(Item no.: 2663696) via your dot com to pick up at the store to save on shipping. I received an email on July 9, 2013 mid-day indicating that it was ready for pick up. Long story short, when I got to the store to pick up, the sales associate shows up with a non-packaged/used slip cover. It looked dirty, worn out and old. I was very upset about this because I missed work to pick up an old item. That store associate called the store manager and all they could do for the inconvenience was give me 20% off or call me in three weeks when the next shipment would arrive for me to pick up. I requested that they simply ship it to me since I’m having to deal with this and they declined that request. I’m not only furious but I clearly wasted gasoline from downtown Houston to this location(store 4950) and have no slip cover. They did refund me cash but how does that solve this problem. I demand someone to call me about this order. If that store or your corporate store is going to post items for purchase that is clearly the«floor model» that clearly needs to be indicated on the option before pushing PURCHASE.

I love shopping here overall. Much of my home décor is from things I’ve found at Pier 1 Imports over the years. The store has some really cute stuff that is good quality and semi-unique. Their home fragrances and candles are some of the best I’ve found. They also have some inexpensive goody-bag type gifts that I have used for bridal showers and baby shower prizes. Some things here are overpriced, but the quality is there, so what you buy here will likely last. I personally don’t think buying furniture here is worth it as it seems way too overpriced for the quality. I am more of a Crate and Barrel/Room & Board person, that’s just me. But I guess if you are in love with the style of something furniture-wise, you probably won’t find the design elsewhere as the furniture leans toward girly rather than classic. About this store in particular — sales associates can be a bit overbearing sometimes, but I think that’s better than not being talked to at all. Also, the store is very cluttered, especially toward the back. I’m not sure why Pier 1 doesn’t invest in slightly bigger stores as I don’t think this is the employees’ fault — they just get too much merchandise. I will continue to shop here on the regular when I need home décor or a gift for a friend. It’s a nice addition to Home Goods, Hobby Lobby, and Garden Ridge.

Wow, this was a heavily stocked store and with lots of sales. However, the sales didn’t offer up as low of a price as I would have liked. And while it’s heavily stocked, it can seem to be cluttered to some. I don’t know. I’ve enjoyed shopping at other Pier 1s than this one.
