Worst resturaunt experience ever… lets start from the beginning. the resturaunt was empty, but it took over an hour and a half to get our food. they ran out of their sunday special on a sunday, house salad was not fresh, mac n cheese was so salty and dry, my sons lips shriveled. my niece who is only 3 said, this pizza isnt that good to me. my moms lobster potpie taste like i licked the ocean. my brother ordered bbq ribs, which were 4 over baked ribs that if you looked at it too hard the meat fell off and barely even had any sauce(which was not bbq sauce btw) for $ 22.my other brother ordered chicken pasta, which they forgot to put the chicken in. after he sent it back and got the chicken in it, he commented that hamburger helper tastes better… i ordered the chicken appetizer, which didnt come till the end of our 2 hour resturaunt experience, which was given on the house for the wait, but i would have paid them to just keep those chicken wings in the kitchen… the service was horrible and slow… let alone the over priced, small portioned everything. the best part of my meal was the ice water on a 90degree day, but even that i had to wait for… it sounds so bad that its fake but this literally happened and not one person in our party had positive feedback… super disappointed all around. I wish i could take this experience out of my life. only if the stars went negative, id give –2.

Been here half a dozen times and the food is consistently awesome. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and wine list. The sauces are amazing and the atmosphere is quiet. We look at Ironwood American Bistro as our go to place in Suisun City.

For graduation dinner, my family and friends wanted to avoid the terrible 80 east traffic and so we spent our evening at Ironwood Bistro. This place looked rather empty on a Friday night, but the food speaks for itself. I would categorize this place as a little higher end than your typical seat in restaurant. The prices for the main dishes are well above $ 20+ but once again, the food speaks for itself. The appetizers on the other hand were not as good as the main courses. We ordered half a dozen oysters, a tomato bisque soup and a Organic Spinach and Romaine Salad. The oysters were $ 15 and were NOT worth. They were super small and just not worth the price. The tomato bisque soup lacked flavor and I would also not recommend this soup to anyone. The salad was alright and was enough to split between a group of 7. Main courses included the Orange and Ancho Braised Beef Short Rib. The beef was really good and although the dish looks small, it actually filled me up. I would say the main courses really saved the day because going off the appetizers, things were not looking good. Once again, this establishment is a little out of my price range, but for the special occasion, I think it was well worth. Staff here are friendly and Chef was kind enough to say a few congrats to our table. Atmosphere of this restaurant could be better but main dishes were still great. TL:DR — skip the appetizers, main courses were aite!

Came here for a graduation dinner on a Friday Night. Food was pretty good but I wish the overall ambiance of the restaurant reflected the upscale price and mood of the restaurant. The tiled floors reminded me of my old elementary school classrooms. There food is a little pricey, but again we came here for a celebration so it was well worth. Our table order the risotto, pork chops, house salad, half dozen oysters, cioppino, chicken pot pies and some other dishes. The food here really is quite good, except for the tomato bisque which I thought was extremely bland.

Wow! My son-in-law brought the family here for my birthday and it is amazing! This place is a little more spendy than I am used to, but the flavor is worth the price! There were 5 in our party and we shared all the plates around so we could each try them all. We had 4 appetizers: chicken wings, crab cake, wild mushroom flatbread and smoked sturgeon dip. Each was better than the last! The crab cake was stuffed full of crab, the mushroom flatbread is cheesy and delicious with truffle oil! The sturgeon was amazing — I can’t wait to go back and get it again! Three of us ordered the seafood pot pie and it was outta this world– completely unique to anything I have tried before and delicious! I passed on trying the mac & cheese twice. I am just not that big a fan of this side. The third time, my daughter insisted, so I tried it. All I could do was keep repeating«Oh my God!» We had to order more mac and cheese. The flavor of the orange/ancho short ribs was delicious and they melted in my mouth! Same with the baby back ribs, just fall off the bone. We loved everything we got. The bread pudding has a crunchy crème brulé sugar on top and a salted caramel topping! Every dish was divine and each better than the last, and the last was the beignets! They were the highlight of a fabulous birthday dinner! I have never experienced a more divine doughnut! The fresh sugared treats were bursting with dark chocolate filling that is calling my name again today! I loved all of it. Fabulous birthday meal!

My husband and I went I order the ivory salmon and my husband ordered the crab shrimp pot pie. Amazing food. You can tell she delicately prepares each part even the salad –each leaf had dressing. There was so much crab in the pot pie and the salmon was cooked to perfection. My butter knife slid right through my salmon. Will be coming back. Also a personal touch the chef/owner came to our table and spoke with us. I’ve never had that and it sealed the deal for me. I mean I was already going to come back because of the food but now even more so. We have to come back.

I love when I get the chance to do a 5 star review, and Ironwood Bistro is definitely deserving of one. We were a bit dissapointed that we had missed the oyster Happy Hour, and thus apprehensive to spend full price on oysters that had the potential to the low-quality, fatty, Pacific variety. But Chef Megan herself came out and expertly described their flavor profile. And boy, these oysters were good. Briney, sweet, and lean. We decided to share entrees and got the fried chicken plate as well as the sturgeon over barley. The sturgeon tasted incredibly fresh, like it has just came out of the water. The accompanying mole garnish on the plate could’ve easily been a standalone dish, I was borderline licking the plate afterwards. The service and setting are incredible as well. As mentioned earlier, Chef Megan took the time to describe to us the dishes on the menu and shed some light on some of the culinary philosophies that Ironwood represents. They have done an excellent job in their hiring of polite waiters that seem to genuinely care about their jobs. All in all, Ironwood is going to become a regular spot for me, and I’m sure will take off in the very near future.

Okay, I’m bad about writing reviews for sub par food, seems I only want to write 5* reviews so I can tell the world about my find! Here’s one I can’t wait to revisit! I had the Brown Rice Risotto and added chicken. Perfectly done, it had peas, broccoli, baby spinach, Parmesan and I think balsamic vinegar slightly drizzled over the spinach leaves. So yummy! My companion had the Short Ribs. Outstanding was all she could say. So tender and flavorful. She’s worried that she will never order anything else if we return because it was so good! Interesting to note there are no salt and pepper shakers on the table because the food is seasoned perfectly! Another interesting note are their fresh ingredients. Wild caught shrimp is not farmed and they don’t use meats that contain hormones or antibiotics. To finish this fantastic meal, we just had to see how good their desserts were since they hit home runs with both of our meals. We chose the Bananas Foster with a rum/banana sauce. It was like a warm banana bread pudding, but not mushy or soupy like some bread puddings are. The sauce was presented on the side with fresh whipped cream. We ate every bit! This place is in a good location, albeit downtown Suisun where events are happen… but it’s a bit hidden behind Virgil’s bait shop. Stop in and ask for Josh as your server(he was very attentive but not hovering) you won’t be disappointed!

I ordered the soup(shrimp bisque as said on the phone) no shrimp flavor, no idea what it was. The to go cutlery– spoon used to eat soup cut my lips it’s so sharp on the edges. Please pick and use better to go cutlery, you charge enough for decent utensils. Sunday fried chicken special– chicken was pink still at the bone. Breading was soggy on the underside, with no flavor on the chicken besides the skin. Mashed potatoes were clumpy and not consistent, bad mouth feel. The Mac n cheese with sausage. I had BURNT sausage in my Mac, felt like leftover not good shit thrown together. Wait staff was very nice.

Seriously this place is the best! Have a great beer selection & homemade food?! Such a little hidden gem that I’m glad I found. Healthy and light and great flavors. Doesn’t get better than that! try this place!

Food was great but service was horrible! We saw our server twice. If it weren’t for the assistant server/busboy who was outstanding, we would have walked out! I understand if you were shorthanded but we received our appetizer before our water. Will not be coming back for the price.

My husband took me here for my birthday dinner since this was a new place to check out in the Marina. And boy the Suisun Waterfront is certainly getting up there with these new restaurants popping up in the area. The décor looks nice and cozy and the moment we came in we were greeted by the host who also happened to be our waiter. He was very attentive and was able to recommend us and answered our questions on the menu. The place certainly served what I considered comfort food and they had a decent selection of local wines and beers. Not being a fan of wine or beer I was hoping they also served different cocktails or what not. I ended up choosing the fried chicken plate and I’m glad I did. The chicken was very tasty and moist. Mashed potato w/gravy, broccoli, and a homemade biscuit also came with the chicken and every was good! My husband also enjoyed his meal but right now I can’t comment on what it was because I completely forgot what he had! i was too focused on my own plate! For dessert I ordered the chocolate beignets and it was ok, I wasn’t in love with it. But my husband did order the banana foster and I was able to grab a few bites and I really enjoyed that! At the end of our meal, the chef came out and had a chat with us. And I can really see how much she really loved to prepare the food. She also mentioned they did cooking classes which to me was awesome! i would love to check out a few of those! Overall, I believe this is a good staple of the new and upcoming restaurants at the Waterfront and I would certainly come back! Customer service went above and beyond!

Came here with a friend on an even busier weekend than normal thanks to Cupid. Luckily they were able to squeeze us in on such short notice. Walking in, the atmosphere felt a tad cold and dreary, however that cancelled out when the chef welcomed us and guided us to our seats. It’s nice to see the chef interacting with the customers and being behind the scenes as well with her staff preparing the dishes. Our server, although I couldn’t recall his name as I’m writing up this review, provided good and friendly service. He was very attentive to the details and offered recommendations when deciding what to order. He also checked in numerous times and refilled waters as needed. We went down the menu ordering a full size spinach, beet and blue cheese salad lightly dressed with an orange ginger vinaigrette, followed by not one, but two orders of cioppino and then ended it with dessert of what looked and felt to be a cross of a beignet and donut filled lightly with a chocolate sauce. The flavors were definitely there and one matter that could be attended to was the salad. I felt there could’ve been more texture added besides the spinach, candied pecans and beets. Maybe a frisée for more variety and presentation? That’s just me though but the salad was good. The cioppino though was fabulous that after finishing one and nearly completing a bottle of an awesome wine another one was ordered and devoured. That broth I’ll tell you!!! Dessert wasn’t too memorable but we had to finish the night out with something sweet along with tea and coffee. Great service, good food and all in good company. I’ll be back again to try out lunch and happy hour. :)

OMG. Farm Fresh A2Z. everything was amazing. When you first walk in… your expectations take a step back at first with the ambience. Then you settle in for a open kitchen cooking experience where you come to quickly appreciate the open space and very friendly wait staff. The chicken noodle was to die for and the short ribs were simply put.perfection. Now for desert. The banana foster was OMG so freaking good and the beignets were perfect with my Just Roasted coffee. Josh… our waiter… was the perfect gentlemen and it was nice to see the whole staff work together as a team. We will be back over and over. Yes! This was our first time and as a local… we we wish we had discovered Ironwood a year ago. Oh… btw… We came here for the oysters on the half and will be back for the happy hour Tues thru Thurs $ 1 Oyster special.

Josh is one of those servers that deserves way more than I could tip! Very cordial, funny and thoughtful. We noticed he was not only serving but acting as hostess and bussing tables! That’s the kind of service that’s keeps people coming back.(Bonus that he pronounced our last name right when we left) We ordered the sausage flatbread, short ribs, Caesar salad, Mac’n’Cheese and the bananas foster bread pudding. I didn’t see what’s so amazing about the short ribs in my opinion. They really lacked seasoning, like a dash of salt??? And the flatbread was ok, we will try the mushroom next time. The Caesar dressing is very traditional with anchovies, so that was refreshing. It’s very rare to get the real things these days. The Mac’n’Cheese was phenomenal. Our toddler didn’t want to try it(he filled up on the flat bread I suppose) so my husband and I devoured it. But the best thing I had, had to be the bananas foster BP. Amazing!!! We will be back.

We had a wonderful first dining experience here tonight. We were greeted and seated promptly by our friendly server, Jenna. We had the smoked sturgeon dip and split a full size kale Cesar salad 4 ways. Each of us couldn’t get over how good the Cesar dressing was. Awesome. Two people ordered the short ribs. One ordered the baby back ribs. Another ordered the brown rice risotto. Holy cow. Really really good. Fork tender and full of flavor. The spinach was tender and not wilted to death. The buttermilk mashed potatoes were great. We followed up with the bananas foster bread pudding. So good! As for the review that suggested that the locals must lack a palette, get over yourself. I lived in Yountville and Napa and regularly ate at the Michelin star restaurants the area has to offer. The food here was great. We will be back many times. Also, I was impressed that the chef took the time to check in on their guests. I also will be taking a cooking class there as a Christmas present. Glad we found this place.

Yeah I don’t understand why this place is rated so highly. Maybe because the people around this area don’t have a developed palate? Everything lacked flavor. It’s okay to salt things guys! Not everybody has blood pressure issues… I had the short rib and it lacked the punch of flavor I was looking for. I read the description and expected flavors! The service was good so that was a plus! The restaurant also lacked the décor to be charging Napa prices. You definitely won’t die from the food here so that’s good! This restaurant definitely wouldn’t survive in a better area though.

Local fresh ingredients, prepared with care. Friendly staff. Salads, soups, appetizers, entrees and desserts are delicious. My favorites are: salads(all), flatbread pizzas, soups(all), seafood pot pie, short rib, fried chicken, cioppino, bread pudding, and the beignets. Local selection of beers is nice, happy hour specials are great. Friendly staff and we love Chef Meg.

A perfect day to sit and lounge on the patio. A very welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Very convenient place for the commuters. We were instantly seated. The waiter introduced himself and the story of «Ironwood» restaurant. Interesting background. He came to the table every 5 — 10 minutes to check on us. The BLT Flat Bread. A combination of two cravings… pizza and sandwich in one! You can never have enough bacon, however, the chef did a great job in allowing my taste buds explore all the flavor. Too many of the bacon or tomato would have been over powering. The shoestring fries are delicious! I will definitely come back. If their brunch is this delicious, imagine their dinner meals! Yum yum!
