Hunter Lake

This is one of the best lakes you can fish in the catskills. The family who runs the lake is very very nice, I go there around 2 – 3 times per year because of how great the fishing is. There is a charge for the lake but there should be as they own the land and want to make a few bucks. I have no issue paying their fees to fish such a great lake!!!

It’s a ripoff ! $ 30 to fish the lake, $ 30 for the rowboat
‚$ 30 electric motor. If I’m renting your boat why should I have to pay $ 30 just fish? Don’t get me wrong I understand times are hard, and what makes it so bad you’re not guaranteed to catch any fish. Don’t get me wrong very nice people, will I go back there again, I don’t think so. If you do go, bring extra cash with you, this lake is all about the money.

The most unique piece of nature and perhaps one of the best fishing lakes in New York. This private property is truly one of a kind.
This is one of those places that cannot be described or appreciated with words. Over 200 acres of private secluded and I mean Secluded country land and water to fish, boat, picnic and explore.
There are eagles that fly around the Lake all day long. I’ve seen them swoop down and grab ducklings or fish right in front of us. There’s a path that takes you to the base of a huge tree where they nest.
ESPN previously aired a BASS fishing show on the lake. They coined the phrase «Every cast lake.» They are correct. There are all types of fresh water fish such as pickerel, perch, sun fish, crappie, bullhead, suckers, minnows, eel & catfish to name just some. Lots of other animals roam the property and may be spied like deer and other wild forest animals at any second.
Take a nature hike. Boat around for an entire day, get out and explore the shore and fish from land. Picnic in the country without hearing or seeing any type of civilization what so ever. Peace and quiet that can only found in few places these days.
Clear the mind and soul in the beautiful hard core country around 2 hours from NYC. It’ll be the best trip of your and your kids life.
