I got 3 sweet potato empanadas. They are really good here and a lot of bakeries don’t make them. I don’t know if it’s lack of demand or a seasonal thing. The downside of this bakery along with others is that nothing is labeled. How am I supposed to know what stuff is filled with? Also, nothing has prices. Empanadas are 80 cents each.

I bought a tres leches cake here, against my better judgement, I usually get them at Pete’s. But I have been buying pastries here for years, and like other commenters here, they were great and the place is always spotless, and I live only 10 minutes away. So, as soon as i got home i put the cake in the fridge. 4 hours later when I cut the cake and passed it to my guests they started commenting that it tasted a bit sour. They all tossed it in the trash. Had I not had a house full of guests I would have driven back and returned the cake. I called the next morning and was told to call after 2 when the owner was there and maybe she might consider taking the cake back. I told the girl to forget it, I was not going to drive back with a dripping sour milk cake to «maybe» be considered for a refund or credit. I just wanted them to know they sold me a «sour milk» cake and left it at that. I give this place 4 stars because as long as you don’t buy their«three sour milks» cake, you’ll be okay.

Drop the cheese empanada, and you won’t get hurt! Well what can I say, I’m a fan of pastries and bread, specially when, made fresh. This is the reason why I love buying my bread here. Also I love the fact that the premises are very clean, their prices are low(almost everything goes for .75), and their variety is awesome. They have delightful conchas(sugar glazed like bread) in 3 flavors, about 4 different kinds of muffins, cookies, donuts, empanadas(which my very favorite are the cheese empanadas, but I don’t discriminate against the sweet potato, strawberry, or pineapple filled empanadas), chocolate brownies, baked cheese cake, carrot cake, and of course the very famous torta bread«Bolillo»(known by some as the football shaped bread). Besides these delicious typical treats, they also sell custom personalized cakes. Whether you’re looking for a Tres Leches cake, or a fresh strawberries topped cake, or a Sponge Bob Square Pants cake, Karina’s Bakery delivers the goods. If ever around, and have a sweet tooth for something other than a chocolate bar or candy, stop by and pick up a bag full of bread.
