I sincerely hope for the sake of customers, they have closed. Their hours were already scaled back last August when I went in to have a LOT of stuff made for my wedding groomsmen. After eight weeks and six days before my wedding, I was told it they weren’t fulfilling the order. Eight weeks. My wedding. No apology. And even a slight insinuation that I still owed them for the work for which they never even ordered the tartan. Please, just stay away– Owner: blunt, rude, and frankly/sadly a bit out to lunch Assistant: very sweet and sympathetic Tailor: Rude, mocking, and actually called me «fat» — utterly useless human being. The biggest shame is that there is a market for Celtic clothing and no one to fill it, but I would rather use mail order than buy anything more from this dilapidated, smoke ridden dump.

20 years ago I loved this place when it was at it’s former location and managed by the woman of the house. I sure don’t now. I walked in the front door, and the man sitting behind the counter chain-smoking didn’t even want to say hello. The lighting is dim, the place stinks of cigarette smoke, and the service is surly. How sad a once great place that supported the Scottish heritage has deteriorated so badly.

They moved, the address Unilocal shows is correct but their website still shows 6115. 6257 is the correct street number. How great that there is a kilt rental place in the Chicago area. We are considering using it for a wedding and their help so far has been fantastic.

Like the name implies, if you find the need for anything Scottish, here’s the place to go. It is kind of hard to miss, just being a small storefront without any sin-age. My husband and two groomsmen were clad in kilts for the wedding, and instead of renting on-line we went here instead. Good thing, because when it came to the measurements, we would have been screwed. The kilt rental came to about $ 130 and included the kilt, jacket, man-purse(why can I never remember the name of the furry purse like things?- no offense to anyone) and sock garters. The tuxedo shirt, socks and bow tie were yours to keep. When the day of the wedding came, the guys looked so good(If anyone wants a blackmail picture of Dave S. showing some leg in a kilt, just PM me!) even if they were a little on the big on the kilt for my one groomsman, and a little too short on the jacket for my husband. But they were rentals after all, I couldn’t expect a tailored fit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to go outside the tux for their wedding.
