I frequented this place when my brother lived nearby and it was always a good meal for a good price. They open early for the breakfast crowd(bagels and breakfast sandwiches) and have a great lunch and dinner menu the rest of the day. Salads, build your own stir fry and over a dozen loaded sandwiches for under $ 4 are always a favorite alongside some of the garlic fries. It’s your best choice in an area lacking a selection of eateries.

Food always good and made to order. Lee’s an amazing chef and interesting to talk too as he makes your meal. Chowder on Friday’s are my favorite.

I’m with Ian — this is an out of the way little gem. And I do mean little — it’s a shack! This would be a great place to pick food to go if you are heading home in the general area or heading north for the weekend from out of state. A lot of people take rt. 28 instead of rt. 93 and this is just off of 28 north. The prices are unreal. My friend ordered the chicken Parmesan sandwich on a bulki roll. It was stuffed with 3 good size pieces of excellent chicken, and the cost was $ 4.50! This would be about a ten dollar sandwich at your local chain restaurant. I had a mini burger for $ 1.50 that was super. This is home cooked type comfort food, nothing fancy, but very good. You can get spaghetti or ziti with homemade meat sauce and garlic bread for $ 5.00! There is hardly any room inside the place –a counter with a few stools, so take out is perfect — call ahead. In the summer, they have picnic tables out side. They also do catering, and I’m betting their prices for that are a super deal too. 222⁄12 Today I had the«mini» cheeseburger for $ 1.75. super deal — and it’s not a mini. It’s a regular sized home made type burger on a nice fresh and soft roll. I would put this up against a $ 4 Five Guys burger any day. The mini burger is only $ 1.50!

We stopped here for lunch on our way to an event in the area. This spot is super cute and clean, and it’s in a really quiet area. We actually turned around at one point because we were sure we were going down the wrong road! I’m not sure if the owner is always there doing the cooking, but he was in that day. The cook made everything from scratch, asking exactly what veggies and how much mayo be in the tuna salad. As another review mentioned, the inside counter is super small, so we opted to take our lunch out to the picnic tables. We really liked that the area was shaded enough to keep us cool on the 90+ degree day. The food was fresh, tasty, and a great value. If we’re ever in the area again, we’ll definitely make a point to stop.

This tiny takeout restaurant is a gem in Allenstown. Custom Cookin(under new management) opened recently in the former Bobcat’s Burger Barn and Christie’s Lunch Box, which had short stints at this quiet location next to the elementary school. I did visit Bobcat’s Burger Barn one time earlier this year, but I opted not to write the review, sigh… Custom Cookin is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner(7AM-7PM) offering fresh food custom cooked to order. Some of the menu items include breakfast sandwiches, homemade donuts & muffins, burgers, hot dogs(steamed or grilled), sandwiches, subs, wraps, homecooked dinners(fried seafood, chicken fingers, meatloaf, roast meats), pasta dinners, stir fry, salads, soup of the day, and pepperoni and spinach breads(takes 30 minutes to make). Pepsi products in the cooler. Any condiment or veggie(even grilled peppers, onions, & mushrooms) can be added to your food at no extra charge. The prices here are very reasonable, items priced under $ 10. The place is not very big, which has an inside order counter/open kitchen and 4 seats in the tiny waiting area along the front windows. There’s also picnic table seating outside. I drive by this place often on my commute and it seems like the community is really embracing this new eatery. Each time I’ve stopped here for dinner takeout, the place has a steady stream of customers and the 4 seats are sometimes occupied with folks enjoying their food. The staff is friendly and customers are addressed by first name. On my initial visit, I ordered the Buffalo Fingers Dinner($ 6.50) served with choice of two sides(mashed potatoes & cole slaw). The buffalo fingers had very light breading with soft & tender boneless chicken in a mild spiced buffalo sauce. The mashed potatoes had a dense and creamy texture with small potato chunks. The shredded cole slaw was perfectly made, tangy tasting and not to creamy or sweet. I also ordered a Mini Burger($ 1.50) topped with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions & peppers, & ketchup and served on a toasted bun. The burger was very juicy & well done inside, very good! On my recent dinner visit, I ordered the Chicken Stir Fry($ 7.25) and customized it with all veggies(onions, green peppers, carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, & peapods) and sweet teriyaki sauce and served over spaghetti. I watched my food being cooked to order and the smell from the kitchen was amazing. The Chicken Stir Fry was excellent and there was enough food for 3 people. The flavors of this very hot and delicious stir fry came together very well. The mixture of vegetables and the boneless chicken pieces were very tender and the mound of pasta was very soft(actually vermicelli). I’m hopeful Custom Cookin will succeed in Allenstown because the food and prices are very good and customers keep coming back, including me. CASHONLY
