If you need a short hike with family members and a nice view, this is a great place to go. You can even hike this when there is snow on the ground. I’ve hiked the John Muir Trail and I know there are hikes with no cars for miles and gorgeous views but this is what it is. A short hike that’s easy to get to with a view of lake tahoe from above. It’s probably half a mile up and a half mile down.

Short hike with a big payoff – a beautiful scenic view of Lake Tahoe. While I consider this an easy 15 min«coffee cup» climb, some of my city friends are winded by the time we reach the top. Regardless, EVERYBODY loves this view. Another reason why the west shore is the best shore.

Shortest hike I ever been on. 15 – 20 minutes. Rocky towards the top. Great little hike to kill an hour to enjoy the view. Parking has little spaces but people are in and out so nothing to worry about there’s always a parking spot.

Very short hike with a very rewarding view of the lake. Please stay on the trail as not to disturb the vegetation and cause erosion. You can easily do this round trip in under an hour. Parking is on the side of the road, so heads up.

Great hike with beautiful views. I wouldn’t bring my little boys here yet because it is very steep and dangerous at the top. I am out of shape and was able to do the hike without too much trouble. Bring water and a camera.

One of my favorite places in the Tahoe area. It’s just a short 15 minute hike up to the bluff. The view from the top is outstanding. There are four great vantage points that provide a complete 360° view.

Easiest hike of your life. More of a brief saunter up a hill. But rewards you with a spectacular view!!! Great for people short on time or energy. You could take some great photos! Right off the road.

Super fun! It can be easy or hard depending on your preference. My mom, who has trouble walking long distances, was able to make it to the top(eventually). It’s not too steep, and is actually pretty short, but fun for a short family adventure. My boyfriend and I were a little more adventurous. Instead of following the trail, we tried to walk straight up the hill/mountain towards where we thought the top would be. This was a little more interesting. It also was more like hiking than walking. We had to be a bit careful because it was a little icy towards the top. We wound up hitting a different peak, as there were two different vantage points. It was nice because the two of us got to look at the absolutely beautiful view alone on our little peak, while there were around 15 people on the main one. We wound up going over, because that’s the one the rest of my family reached(as it was on the trail). There was an adorably fuzzy white dog, who was really well trained. That was fun. Note: the trail can be muddy at times, so definitely don’t wear white shoes if possible and do wear tennis shoes instead of UGGS or something else just because of warmth. Also, the height is a little scary, but if you fear heights, you can just stay away from the edge! It’s not a huge issue.

Eagle Rock is a special place. the neck of an eroded volcanic plug. The terrain is like the maria of the moon… it’s wild to go from Lake Tahoe’s lush forest to this desolate, rugged landform. The locals have been playing there since early 1880’s, and the native Washoes have stories about the place, as well: It’s an easy hike. Real hikers will say it is comically short. However, *Dogs are allowed* and welcome. Also, the new trail on the south side is well put together… although short, it’s steep… but it’s likely only ½ mile total, 20 minute moderate hike. The incline is a good challenge, and there are enough open rocky spaces to climb all over the crest for an hour or so. You might even get some light bouldering in at parts. All in all, you can get a lot of exercise rolling around the crest of the hill. Stunning 360 degree views of the Sierra, Lake Tahoe — it’s an easy hike, it’s quick, and it’s mandatory, as far as I am concerned.: It’s a scramble, but it’s the best view of the lake in my opinion: Camera is mandatory, and bring a picnic lunch… it will have a better view than any restaurant in the area.
