Just ordered take-out from here and was very underwhelmed. The person taking the order repeated it several times back to us, but several things in our order were still wrong – vegetarian duck in an order that should have been just vegetables and steamed dumplings instead of pan-fried. Not the worst thing to ever happen if the food had been good, but it’s pretty mediocre at best. Spring rolls seemed pretty bland overall, like the vegetables had been boiled until there was no flavor left in them. The dumplings may have had potential, but since they delivered steamed instead of fried, they were pretty mushy by the time they arrived at our door. Also tried the pokora, and they seemed to have some potential but the way they were packaged was terrible – the dipping sauce spilled all over them during transit, so again something that should have been crispy arrived mushy. The cashew sauce and sweet and sour sauce were also rather disappointing. They were both just too sweet and one-note in flavor. We will not be ordering from here again.

It’s ridiculous that you can get food so good for such a cheap price. From the outside it seems like Anise fusion is no bigger than a medium sized bathroom, and you’d be right. The food is delicious though and the décor is lovely. The dumplings we enjoyed were great and the price was out of this world. I had two bubble teas as well. I was surprised that their bubble tea would be so good since it’s not really a bubble café. Such a happy surprise. Do yourself a favor and stop by Anise fusion if you’re hungry and in Sunnyside cause you won’t get a better deal anywhere.

This is better than local chinese take out as the menu is a more interesting and they use lots of fresh veggies. Quick delivery and a good price. Worth checking out.

Great new sunnyside spot! Friendly staff, great décor, great food. It is wicked small, so I’d suggest for take out with parties more than one.

The lunch special is amazing! For $ 5.25(or $ 1 extra for shrimp, beef, or vegetarian duck) you get a soup or soda, and any entrée, fried rice, or noodle dish. It’s really good value if you’re like me and don’t have a huge appetite– you can make two satisfying meals out that. They even have a loyalty reward program on the menu: on your 6th order you get a free appetizer and on your 11th a free entrée. Awesommmme. The best part is that I can eat a meal at Anise Fusion without feeling like I just took a day off my life, like when I order from a regular Chinese takeout place. I don’t know if I’m ready to call it health food, but their entrees actually taste like real food and aren’t oily/overly salty. There’s even been a good amount of veggies in there, unlike the usual two sad broccolis. It’s a clean and pretty place if you want to dine in, but it’s tiny with only a few tables. It’s been quiet whenever I’m there in the daytime but I can’t speak for evening/weekends. Anise Fusion is my new favorite takeout spot and I’m so happy I discovered it! Will definitely be filling up my loyalty card.

What makes Anise Fusion different is that its food is not greasy and salty like other take out joints. The sweet corn soup was very light and refreshing. The Penang curry I ordered was bright and warm. Spring rolls was nothing too different from the ordinary. Overall, the quality of the meal surpassed the price. This is not your regular take-out joint, its menu, eat-in décor, quality of food stands out. Will definitely visit again.

A new Asian fusion restaurant has opened up across the street from The Butcher Block. Anise Fusion is a welcomed addition to the neighborhood with the predecessor being nothing more than a mediocre Chinese takeout spot. With a renovated interior and eye-catching red lighting during nighttime, Chinese takeout and delivery has just become a lot more desirable in Sunnyside. The menu is promising with options that have more Thai based despite Chinese-Indian influence in ownership. The Thai-iced tea is actually quite delicious. Appetizers and soups like Tom Yum and Hot & Sour range between $ 3-$ 6, and entrées are around $ 10 with average portion sizes. You can pick your choice of protein or vegetable along with a style of preparation(sauce) including black bean, garlic, and red/panang curry. I am sure there are still few things Anise is working out on its menu. The fish fillet in black bean sauce was satisfactory albeit slightly bland and not so generous on the sauce or vegetables. That being said, I am still eager to try the curry sauce entrees and Singapore Rice noodles. Welcome to the neighborhood!
