I really hate not giving a good review to a local restaurant. Was there for Valentines Day with wife. The good: She had steak, I had the lamb chops… both excellent with great sauces. The mediocre: Apps… she had the seafood tart, I had the lobster bisque. Both were lukewarm. Tasted pretty good, but not great. The bad: The sides(both) were absolutely terrible. She had mashed potatoes(instant! you should not get instant potatoes at a restaurant of this price-point…and it was a disservice to the steak). I had the cous cous. It was the worst I had ever had. Dry and tasteless. Also a disservice to the lamb. The other bad was the atmosphere. This place used to glow with ambience. Now it is falling apart. The seat cushions were worn out. The carpet was dirty. The air-conditioner was duct-taped. And the service was not that great. I saw a waiter knock over a the wine of a couple seated next to us… and the waiter and manager seemed to blame the couple instead of assuming responsibility. I was embarrased for them. It’s a shame because this used to be a much nicer restaurant, but they have slipped greatly.

I just had dinner there tonight and I really enjoyed this place. I only found this place by accident. The service and food was amazing, I had their salmon special and it was delish. I love seafood and they had a great selection of healthy choices. Much different than the deep fried fish offered all over Sunnyside. Great mix of people and a very comfortable atmosphere. I will definitely go there again.

I really adore the staff here. Last time I went with my cousin for brunch, she asked for hot sauce, and the waiter actually went out to the local market and bought a bottle for her. She also had her birthday dinner here, and the staff was charming as ever. The food is delish, especially the escargot appetizer, but I have to admit that their meat has been served inconsistently.(I would avoid the steak.) Nonetheless, it’s a quiet, tidy, and homely restaurant that I’d go to time and time again.

This place was full of flies, which ruin my appetite since i killed one a few weeks ago and watched as dozens of tiny white worms fled from it’s carcass. But I digress. It was totally dead for Sunday brunch. They killed the silence by playing smooth jazz. Sunday fun day? Only if you are into Kenny g friends. The food was good though – burger was juicy, eggs were perfectly done, and the bloody marys were made fresh and not pre mixed in a jug. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired though.

Did something change from the last review? Had dinner here about 3 weeks ago, Sunday night about 7:30pm A party of 4, there were two other tables in the whole restaurant. Service: Kinda bad, but place was so dead, waiters held conversations 5 feet away from our table… kinda uncomfortable. All draft beers you see at the bar… count them out, they only had 2 out of the 5 offered, Bud Light I think was one of them(please…) Food: Maybe just the mushroom ravioli, but that’s it… and their chicken, which surprisingly was not dry. I can’t write any more about this place. Just head out to the city for french food, I can’t say this place is french…

Good Lord, the food is awful! My husband got food poisoning here, please don’t eat here! I even filed a complaint with the board of health. This restaurant should be closed. When they first opened, this was a terrific restaurant. The food was delicious and my husband and I were impressed. So we go back about a year later and OMG! What happened to this once great restaurant? We walked in here at 8pm on a Saturday and we should have known that something was not right because it went from a packed restaurant to only 2 women sitting at a lonely table. I ordered the salmon and my husband and I were shocked when we heard the micro-wave heating up our entrees. We couldn’t believe, did they just nuke my Salmon? The vegetables were gross, I couldn’t eat any of it. My husband however, didn’t want to waste his food and so he ate his steak. Well, let me tell you, he became extremely ill the minute we left that restaurant. Like I said, I even filed a complaint with the board of health, these folks should not be in business. The bill was astronomical, it was almost $ 150. Ick! Needless, to say we will never go back.

Went for Sunday brunch, atmosphere was wonderful felt as if I were at an old friends home. The food was very good, the French toast was by far the best I’ve had. My Beau had a roasted tomato/goat cheese omelet which was good as well. The Mimosa was well prepared, and the crème brûlée has been the best by far. Service was great except for an interruption by another waiter half way through our appetizer. Overall a great cozy place for Sunday brunch. I would recommend this over other bistros.

I wanna love you but I cant force myself to. Came here a few months ago with high hopes because majority of reviews are positive. We were greeted warmly and promptly seated. Appetizer of sauteed calamari was okay and escargot was good. Our glasses were always filled. The disappointment began shortly after our entrees came. All 3 of our orders were not cooked properly. Scallops overcooked(Akkkk!!!), steak medium well instead of medium rare and another steak was rare instead of well. Oh dear. Maybe I should give em another shot during brunch huh? Pfft.

On the outside, Bliss is rather unimpressive… but on the inside, you will find a warm, dimly lit restaurant reminscent of a cozy country dining room. We started with the escargots and the crabcake special. The escargots were great — you really can’t go wrong with garlic and olive oil. And it was even better soaked up by the bread — loved it! The crabcake was disappointing. I love crabcake but this one seemed to be 90% filler and 10% crabmeat. Blah. Nonetheless, on to the entrees. We had the sea scallops and the hanger steak. The scallops were delicious! Served with snow peas, and cauliflower purée, the dish was not only presented nicely, but the scallops were fresh and juicy. The hanger steak, on the other hand, was a bit too chewy for my liking and not particularly flavorful. Definitely have had better elsewhere. The fries that came with the dish were also nothing special. Dessert! We had the bread pudding and the profiteroles. The bread pudding was delicious! Soft and warm, cinnamon and vanilla — love those elements together! The profiteroles were also quite good and the almonds were a nice touch, but I definitely preferred the bread pudding. Service was attentive. Our water was constantly refilled and we were checked upon several times. We are already planning our return. The table next to us had ordered the chicken and we had overheard them saying how great it had been — so we will be sure to try that on our next visit. I wanted to give Bliss 3 stars, as only 1 out of our 2 appetizers, and 1 out of our 2 entrees were really remarkable — but it was really better than just«A-okay.» Our servers were attentive, and the prices rather reasonable, so perhaps a 3.5-star rating is more appropriate. :)

Wow. I came in thinking«fine dining in Sunnyside? Get the f outta here»! I was pleasantly surprised by how good Bliss was. The owner greeted us, checked up on us, gave me a mini tour of the cozy interior and the impressive outdoor area and thanked us while walking us to the door. The little things do still matter. Be warned the food is very good but also very rich. I went for the all butter meal. Buttered bread dipped in garlic olive oil, escargot in butter, and my girlfriend and I shared the rack of lamb and the fillet of sole on a bed of risotto with saffron sauce aka butter sauce. The rack of lamb was cooked just right with delicious veggies and mashed potatoes. The sole was soooo good. Granted the meal was all butter and cheese but damn it was good. The fish was cooked perfectly as well. 2 drinks 2 apps 2 main courses and a bread pudding dessert came out to under $ 100. Outrageous for Sunnyside but well worth it for the quality of the food.

I’ve eaten at Bliss perhaps five times so that should offer some validity to my assertion that this place is mediocre at best. Flavors and preparations are entirely devoid of skill or creativity. While food was fairly good on one visit, most recently, I ordered the flounder which was a special and it was gluey and tasted of ammonia. The spinach that accompanied it was good, but the mashed potatoes were flavored with rosemary(clearly, as a matter of course) which tasted awful with the ginger-soy flavor the fish was cooked with. I love the French emphasis on the wine list but it is not kept updated, so vintages and vintners are not as represented on the list. Service is good and the olives they place on the table are wonderful, but the compliments, sadly, end there. As a neighborhood resident, I would love nothing more than to say that this place is good, or even solid, but alas, I cannot. I can honestly say that I cook better than these amateurs.

If you haven’t tried the back garden, you have to. It’s divine. We still find that the inside of the restaurant is a bit stuffy and uptight. But during the summer months, the back garden is like, as cliché as it may sound, blissful. They do offer daily specials, but the regular menu does not change throughout the year. I am partly happy that I can always get favorite duck breast dish with balsamic reduction with a corn/potatoes/bacon«stir-fry», but I also wish that there are some new dishes that I can try. OK, last week when I was there, the duck breast was a little bit of a disappointment than usual: it was overcooked and dry.(OMG I so want to give then 4-stars but…) Service is consistently good and proper. You get a league of attentive and friendly staff and you will not think twice to give them your 20%. The manager even shakes hands with us when we left.

SO I have been going to Bliss since it opened and I am SHOCKED by any negative reviews here.. It has become my go to place not only in Queens but NYC because it is consistantly good and the service is great. price point ridiculously low for the space and quality of food. The owner always treats us like special friends. Really well done bistro classics, like the coq au vin I had there recently was STUPENDOUS. Drinks are usually very strong and yummy and also they have a good wine list. Also they have a very nice garden. Have to check out their brunch. Great addition to sunnyside and for the record though I like Quaint as well BEATS them by a bit on décor, food quality and amount!

I’ve gone back here enough times to give it five stars. A few very important reasons: 1.) The waitstaff treats you like royalty. Always super nice 2.) The AWESOME garden… totally one of the best in Sunnyside. It’s just really relaxing. 3.) I really like the burger.

Just curious, has the ownership Changed hands recently. Because i would think the ratings recieved here may indeed be misleading now. I heard the food not as good now, is this true? Does anyone out there know ?? Thankyou D

Bliss indeed! I was staying at Sean K’s new apartment in Sunnyside Gardens, and we decided to check out Bliss Bistro which is located just half a block from his place. I’d read the rave reviews on Unilocal and was excited to try it. It did not disappoint: we had a great evening there and I’ll definitely be back. The food is vaguely French(or new American, hard to say…) and is fantastic. We shared two appetizers and one entrée. For appetizers, we got the sauteed calamari, and the duck confit salad: both of them were delicious. We then had the daily special, which was a stuffed hen and came with broccoli and mashed potatoes: again, a great dish! We couldn’t help but try the crème brûlée for dessert: large portion and very good. So: flawless food, and at very reasonable prices. The drinks were good too(good cocktail, and good wine), with a very generous pour. Top this with great service, and you have yourself an amazing dinner.(One little con: they can’t seem to be able to make a good espresso…) In fact, we liked it so much that we went back for brunch a couple of days later: the food for brunch was equally great, although I must say that service was a bit inattentive and slow. 4−½ stars.

I’ve eaten here about 10 times so i figured it was time for a full review. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world! Walking in your always treated like an old friend, they are very welcoming and friendly, while not being pushy or to casual. It seems like everyone is a regular, I always see the manager(owner?) sitting and talking with clients. We went there after my Fiancé graduate with her masters and they gave us a complementary bottle of champagne. They have a very nice outdoor garden which plenty of tables. The food is consitantly excellent. This is one of those places that i can go and order anything on the menu and i know it will be great. Even thu i have my favorites, i’m never afraid to mix it up. They always bring break and butter to the table as well as wonderful little almost purple olives that i really enjoy. The french onion soup is the best i’ve ever had, Its sweat and rich with quality sharp cheese. The escargot is excellent as well. For main dishes i often get a fish dish, they are always very fresh. They often have red snapper. This week i had the lobster out of its shell with mushroom risotto. Very sweat lobster, simple and excellent. My father got the orange duck, its wonderful. Highly recomended for french and American cuisine.

Yummy, yummy, yummy. That’d be one yummy for each time I’ve been there so far. Tilapia specials always a safe and delicious order… which reminds me I need to branch out more. The calamari appetizer is delish and they don’t do a shabby job at all on the escargot… and I can be pretty picky about my snails. Now I’ve only been there 3 times but thank god my friends like to share… so the scallops are amazing as was the cod. On the recommendation of the waiter, tried the filet of sole the last time around-excellent! The service is always very good – your wine glass(by the way, very reasonably priced and good wine selection) is refilled as long as you have some in the bottle, water is always topped off and that says a lot for me since I do tend to drink far too much water and the waiters are always very pleasant. The only thing that was a little disappointing is the garden – which is lovely – but as of late, a breeding ground for the mosquitos who digested the lower half of my exposed right leg. If they can clear those guys, would make for a truly awesome outside dining experience. Otherwise, you’ll have to grab your utensils and make a dash for the inside tables.

The perfect place to take a date or out-of-town family in Sunnyside! Much classier than most of the restaurants in the area, Bliss has a selection of food that’s not only affordable, but delicious! I’ve had the Shrimp Scampi and the Chicken with Mushrooms on two separate occasions and both plates were cooked perfectly! This is my mom’s favorite place to go when she comes to visit, and there’s definitely good reason for it!
