I’ve been here a couple of times but I can’t seem to get the food; it’s a shame because their drinks are really good. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s very bland.

Comfort food served. Probably the only place that serves decent food as far as Irish pubs go in the neighborhood. This one stands above the rest. Their signature burger is awesome! The kale salad is a friends absolute favorite ever, the seafood bisque is great and the wedge salad as well. Sunday roast experience was not the best I have to admit. The lamb I ordered was terribly dry and the only time I had a below average meal here in my experience. Still a great place in the area for a good beer and good bar food. Just wish some of the bands that played weren’t as frequent.

Everything was great from food to ambiance and service. I went with my boyfriend and a friend on new years day for brunch. This place was packed but they greeted us right away and after few minutes we got our table. Ordered steak with eggs. It was perfection. Steak was tasty and juicy and the eggs were exactly the way I wanted. Prices are great. Waiters and servers were not pushy at all which is a plus. My bf ordered eggs Benedict and he loved it. I will be returning to this place often and will try other dishes from the menu.

Love the atmosphere at dog and duck! The last time we went for brunch the food at the table was pretty good, but i was disappointed with my crab cake benedict. The crab was grey-ish and there was about one teaspoon of hollandaise.

If you don’t own a Duck, well then, good choice. If you own a dog, good for you! Pick that shit up! That’s the thing about this Irish gastro bistro, you need to know what you’re in for. Delicious food that may not be described well on their menu. Is it good? Yes. Is it always accurate? No. However, an amazing ambiance that is child and redneck friendly… The dog and the Duck is always welcome and delicious, although, the food may be inconsistent, their service and friendly servers are top notch.

Ordered two roast beef dinners via grub hub at 4.15pm. Got the first of two meals at . two hours later cold! The second of the meals was then delivered at 6.50pm. Not sure why they couldn’t deliver together seeing as they were placed together? Or that it took 2hours for one meal and 2hrs 40mins for the other. Absolute disgrace. really really disappointed and angry. Also the portion we got for $ 24 was smaller than that of a child’s meal. Not worth the price or wait! Will not be ordering or going to the restaurant again. Have already told friends of this disaster experience.

I want to love this place. It has a nice atmosphere and decent drinks. But the food is incredibly mediocre and always just a little off. Perhaps if they narrowed the menu and used better ingredients it would be worth the price. Until then, I’m skipping it.

After a long day running around the city and skipping lunch, I went to this local watering hole looking to maybe chat up some people at the bar and have a cocktail and some food. Well 3 people were playing cards at the bar(lame), and the band was so loud it gave me a headache– they were really good, I was just not in the mood I guess last night. I had a cocktail, looked around for people to make conversation and wound up chatting up the waitress off duty– she was the only friendly person. I guess the best laid plans… So I just got the burger, which IS great, and took it to enjoy at home in peace and quiet. Their food is fantastic, I just was not expecting kids dancing with their parents to this country music after hangin around from a late brunch, and I was not expecting an antisocial bar crowd. Oh well, maybe next time. Still a Dog & Duck fan…

You pay for the scenery not for the food. You can get better quality/value lunch and dinner at Quaint ½ block away. I’ve heard brunch is good but haven’t been. I’m eternally disappointed in the burgers here. The sides are super bland. The beer selection isn’t differentiated. So far, the bangers and mash has been my favorite dish. Just call it an Irish bar instead of a gastropub and be done with it.

Went on a weeknight with the family. The food wound up being pretty good but not spectacular. The service was very slow. My kids were getting very restless after 15 minutes and nothing had come out. We requested bread at that point. My wife’s beer was served with ice. We asked why and the response was that it says to do it on the beers site. All it accomplished was watering down the beer if you didn’t chug it. Not that my wife is above chugging her beer. We were told the seafood pot pie is what took so long. It was good but not worth the wait. Overall, the food was good but not worth the time we needed to wait, especially not with children. Might give it another go at a later time.

We came here for brunch and I was craving for pancakes; except the pancakes were far from being fluffy. Not sure what they put in the batter but it tasted nothing like a pancake. It was thick and dry and it felt like I was eating flour. The syrup and powder sugar couldn’t even salvage it. However, the Vienna sausages that came with it tasted a lot better but I have a feeling they were canned sausages. What a disappointment.

Dog friendly! This is the only place I know in Sunnyside that allow dogs to sit outside in the outdoor sitting area with us. The food is good, the service is friendly. We got the Fish & Chips and BBQ Ribs appetizer and they were good.

Located right on Skillman, next to beautiful residential streets lined with trees that are awesome for after-dinner walks. I’ve walked by a few times and The Dog and Duck’s menu has always made me curious. I finally stopped by on a random Sunday night, and was really glad I did. It is a bar, so it’s a little dark with the noise level being a bit on the higher side– but being moved to the outside seating solved that problem. It was a pleasant night to be eating outside anyway, and they were very nice about us wanting to move our table outside after already being seated and served drinks. The service was friendly and quick and were were served our food before we knew it. I go the special: pork chop, kale, gratin potatoes, in a cream of mushroom sauce. It was really mouth-watering-ly good, totally above my expectations for bar food. The pork chop was seasoned well and cooked well done as I requested but not any bit dry like I expect from a bar. The cream of mushroom sauce was creamy, sweet and savory. The potato was amazing, crisp and flavored with cheese. The kale was seasoned and crunchy. Overall a great meal, and well surpassed my assumption of bar-quality food. I’ve definitely added this place to my list of favorite casual spots in Queens.

Once in a while, I come across a place where my checklist comes true: the food tastes marvelous, the servers provide quick service, the place looks cozy and inviting, the ambience feels perfect, and they give out free smiles. Finally, I found that place! Dog and Duck contains all of those qualities. I ordered the Eggs Florentine and Salmon. Talk about delicious! The ice tea pairs off well with this dish. I like the casual, and friendly atmosphere. When I stepped into this place, it feels like another place. This place looks quaint and it feels like you were transported to somewhere in Upstate New York. During brunch, I overheard this woman say, «you made the perfect martini». I noticed this place quickly fills up with local patrons. While not busy, the servers take time to talk to each other. You see and hear their connections to each other. This lends a positive feel to this place. When in Sunnyside, make a stop here and enjoy the ambience and atmosphere. I really enjoyed my experience here. I highly recommend this bar/restaurant.

I keep trying to like the Dog and Duck. It’s got great outdoor seating and good interior ambiance. But the both times I’ve been there have been horrible. The first time, my pork dish was overly salty. When I went to ask for a less salty version, they questioned if I was familiar with the dish. The other weekend, I went there for an early lunch. When I went in, I let the server know I’d like to wait for an open outdoor table. He nodded, and walked away. A second server approached me about a table, and I told her, too, I’d like to wait. Flash forward ten minutes later, when a table outside opens up. The first server I talked to stops, looks past us, motions to a couple at the bar to come with him, then seats them in the new table. Sunnyside is full of great food. Dog and Duck just doesn’t live up to its surroundings. tl-dr; bad service, salty food

For brunch, the Dog and Duck is good, inoffensive, but not particularly memorable. Its best quality is its seating and aesthetic, which feature outdoor tables, mahogany furniture, and lots of high chairs. The Dog and the Duck also has an impressive tap list, featuring lots of local brews. My friends and I came here for brunch, and got to order from a menu that included dishes from all across the map — chicken and waffles to eggs benedict to brunch burgers. I ordered the«eggs royale,» aka eggs benedict over smoked samon with salad and bubble & squeak on the side. The eggs themselves were tasty, the salmon fresh, but very similar, if not inferior, to other eggs benedict I’ve had in Sunnyside and beyond. The bubble & squeak was a little bland, and the salad was crisp(and nicely dressed), but something I could prepare at home. I didn’t get to try these dishes, but first impressions: –Chicken & waffles — SCRUMPTIOUS-looking breading, but the waffles looked a little small –Brunch Burger — was that scrambled eggs on the patty? Not my jam, I always go with fried egg. Between the decent food and the nice service, I can’t explicitly NOT recommend this place. But Dog and Duck is certainly not my favorite, at least for brunch.

I really need to explore Sunnyside more considering I live here… With that said I came here for a Saturday brunch after some heavy drinking. Really nice relaxed place, makes you feel like your in a hipster bar in Brooklyn. The bloody Mary’s were a little weak which is disappointing. Service was a-okay My mac and cheese was deliciousssssssss. I sat there in gluttony until I finished every last bite. I had to waddle and roll out of there. Interested to see what dinner service is like, but not a bad start.

Generic as the food might seem, I’m happy to have stumbled upon this pub + brunch spot with plenty of outdoor, indoor, and in-between seating for the beautiful weekends we’ve been getting. A corner location and floor-to-ceiling windows that open completely mean indoor tables that inch right up to the edge of sunlight(but hopefully during true summer, they quit that business and turn up the a/c). The food isn’t unexpectedly priced: Eggs Benedict-based dishes are the cheapest things on the brunch menu, starting at a very reasonable $ 8.50. The Eggs Florentine is way better than the Eggs Royal(ie. smoked salmon benedict), and had a surprisingly decent, citrusy hollandaise. Instead of fries, entrees are served with what they call bubble & squeak(a classic English potato dish) but looks more like green mashed potatoes. Still very yummy, very buttery. The Smoky Chipotle Bloody Mary was watery the one time I tried it, but their regular Bloody Mary is dense with little particles of pepper and tomato and very, very good. Unfortunately, among the handful of mixed drinks we’ve gotten here, they seem incapable of being consistent with glass sizes… It really shows the neighborhood’s new priorities when young professionals(bah, myself included) flock to a brunch spot that looks like it’s in Brooklyn(and is populated by the new image of Brooklynites). But true to being an Irish pub, drafts are only $ 5 – 6. They’re always out of something or other on tap, but Queens Lager on tap = I’m a fan. A very friendly Irish-accented owner = I’m a fan. Having a sunny place to watch the World Cup = I’m a fan.

Came here with my fellow British staff at lunchtime to treat them all to full English only to find out that its not on the menu at lunch time. I think the server could tell we were upset and scurried out back. a few mins later she returned with a spring in step and announced the good news .’ we can do it ’ ! You beautiful woman ! Its actually a pretty good take on the English breakfast, all though I’m not sure it needed chips(fries). Sausages and bacon were perfect, thick cut bacon boom ! Topped off with black pudding(little well done for my liking) beans and mushrooms . I would only deduct a star for not offering toast or bread and butter on the side. Shame they didn’t know where they sourced their bacon as well. I am guessing the butchers block round the corner . The bar itself is quite nice with an outside area to sit in the sun but the place was dead. Such a shame as this is such a cute party of Sunnyside . I may have to go back one evening after work.
