Ahhh my local British grocery store. Born and raised in England it’s hard to find any stores locally that have what you grew up with. This store literally has everything I’ve ever known as a child!!! Love love love it! Baked beans are more reasonably priced that other grocery stores! One of the main reasons why I come here! Love my Heinz Baked Beans! And you can buy a case!

2 lbs of roast turkey for $ 25. Laughable. This place is great for Irish goods, but stay away from the overpriced meats. Also, the guys behind the«butcher block» stand around, talking to each other for 5 – 10 minutes before bothering to help someone out. 6 butchers behind the sneeze guard and we didn’t get more than a dirty look for 10 minutes.

My review for Butcher Block is strictly based on my experience as someone looking to purchase meats from the butcher and some specialty goods from the UK. BUTCHERCOUNTER = Friendly, accommodating butchers serving up a very decent selection of meats. Their pork offerings(in terms of raw cuts and cured and uncooked sausages) definitely take center stage here and are impressive if you’re looking for those Irish/English breakfast sausages, blood sausages, etc. As someone with a husband who doesn’t eat pork, I’d love to see a better selection of beef and lamb cuts at the butcher counter, though it should be noted you can find some of the less popular cuts(beef short ribs, beef shin) in the back in the pre-packaged section. Very good whole chickens, good ribeyes and competitive prices. SPECIALTYGOODSFROMTHEUK = mostly focusing on pantry staples and snacks like crisps and candies. Pretty decent selection that recalls a typical supermarket in the UK. Can’t review the deli counter as I’ve never ordered from it, but everyone who works there is helpful and friendly. My only wish is that they had more beef and lamb cuts at the counter! Definitely stop by for meats as their butcher counter offerings are easily a step up from the local supermarkets.

$ 125 for hot water?(When I bought a meal as well) Not a very friendly business practice. Trying to squeeze your costumer out of every penny is not so smart. I used to go here every morning. Tired of the over cooked food as well. No thanks.

I love this place! I bought Canadian bacon cutlet, sooo good. Made them for breakfast the next day and went back for more because I only got two to try it out. Lots of other food shopping options and cooked food options. Staff was very nice!

First off I would like to mention that I am a bit of a sandwich connoisseur and Butcher Block nails it. If you’re in the mood for one of the best roast beef sandwiches you have ever had, then look no further than this Sunnyside Irish emerald. The name of this establishment can be a bit misleading, but like much of New York it offers much more than meats the eye. This place is awesome, all the tastes of Ireland with the convenience, price and speediness of a New York bodega. WWII German engineers could not have devised something as great as this. Ok, so now to the food. Skip the menu and everything else and go straight for the roast beef hero. Tender roasted beef piled on so high that you might need to do some jaw exercises just to fit the thing in your mouth. Skip the mayo and go for the house made gravy that punches your mouth with flavor. Your taste buds will do backflips as your stomach expands. All this for $ 6 your bank account will feel as happy you stomach. Forget the pot of gold, this sandwich is what is at the end of the rainbow. As for the rest of the store it has all the taste one could want from the rainy European country side. With homemade sausage, fresh baked soda bread and recently uprooted spuds sold on sight you can go home make yourself some bangers and mash that will knock the whiskey out ol’ Jameson’s hand. Don’t feel like making it yourself? That’s cool, just ask the men behind the food counter for some of the stuff they whipped up and wash it down with one a delicious beer from their awesome selection. Bottom line if you want authentic Irish foods cooked to perfection without paying the equivalent of the cost of a plane ticket Butcher Block is your spot.

This place is awesome! Almost all the food products they sell here are authentic Irish/UK type products. Its really authentic which makes it unique. I’ve only gotten a pastrami sandwich here, which was pretty cheap compared to Jewish Delis(who usually charge a ridiculous price for a really average food item). The sandwich was good, if not pretty darn salty! I mean it didn’t taste that salty, but the entire rest of the day I was chugging water! Pastrami sandwiches are pretty dry and ok in my opinion, but they seem to do a nice job here. Also they have a good looking menu with daily specials. I really have to try their authentic Irish food like blood sausage!

We go here a lot. In addition to yummy treats from the UK there is hot food. It’s always been great but not today. We got a pork sandwich that was on stale bread and loaded with fat. I have attached a picture of the haft from one half of the sandwich. Too bad!

I’ve been here a few times and it’s decent. It’s sort’ve old timey and when I say that… I’m speaking about the establishment itself… butchers taking your order and a grocery store with an ecclectic mix of produce and product. The grocery store itself isn’t super organized… a tad clustered but the food is solid. If I wanted quick food that was homey, I would drop by here. The servings are big so if you have a family or are a pig like me… that would be a major plus. Overall, I would go here again but I usually never crave it.

OMG, Sausage rolls are amazing… greasy but flaky. The chicken curry is also really good… Be careful because if you Irish and hungry you will spend a fortune… crisps, flake/crunch bars, Brown sauce, bread and breakfast meat and a few other things = $ 258.00WORTHIT!!!

Great market that’s 90% grocer and 10% butcher, albeit excellent in both. Jams, canned custard, condiments, teacakes and marshmallow treats & more. Especially great resource around Easter and Halloween for Cadbury and other international sweets(40 plus+ Irish and English candy bars and 75ish kinds of cookies in all).

Always delicious, less expensive, and better quality than the large grocery stores in the area. The hot food, the deli, and the butcher area are all fantastic. I’m a huge fan of the sweet chili marinated chicken, it’s fantastic. The chicken breasts are also fantastic and way better than the grocery store. Also, I occasionally get asked«which part of the old country are you from?» from adorable old ladies with thick brogues, and it makes me giggle, since my roots take me as far as Little Neck.

Picked up some dinner here last week the Scrod Fish w/Mac & cheese was just great not greasy and a lot of food. The guys behind the counter where very helpful and they look like they are always having fun behind the counter. That’s great to see. I also picked up some sausages from the butcher and they where nice and fresh. Let’s not forget the ladies at the register great smiles and very friendly. Love coming here.

Steak burgers are cheap and great! The regular steak cuts are a little bit more money but still good. The grocery is your standard fare but they carry some specialty items like organic clotted cream and hard to find cheeses.

We live a few blocks away and its great for a quick hot meal. They serve very simple dishes for take out. Specials of the day such as roast beef, mashed potatoes and veg or corned beef and cabbage or stuffed cabbage or pot roast or roast chicken. They also have a wide array of irish products. Im married to an irishmen… so Ive bought a few items for us in the past… not being irish myself. it was all new to me. The line moves fast.

First I gotta say their sausage roll surprised the crap out of me, in a good way. I swear looking at the sausage roll, it looked like nothing. I took one bite and I was in greasy heaven. It was real sausage meat shaped into a long patty inside the pastry $ 2 Awesome! It is delicious, albeit greasy but it’s SAUSAGE! Be careful it’s hot and juicy. I have come here for their plates all the time. Today I got the chicken cutlet plate that came with two large breaded chicken cutlets and two sides. I just opted for mashed potatoes for the two sides. I also asked for extra gravy. It lasted for two huge meals, all for $ 8! Tasted good to me. It can actually feed 2 – 3 people or last 2 – 3 meals. I’ve had their roast beef, roasted turkey breast & ham, sirloin with onions plates which I all enjoyed. I also tried their roasted stuffed pork loin but that was a bit too dry for me. The chicken supreme is a «mini» chicken loaf topped with a mushroom cream sauce. I tried one bite and it just needs a little salt but its good too. If dairy didn’t bother me so much I would have tried their chicken pot pie by now, $ 5.95. My boss had the lasagne twice and scarfed it down both times. He must have really enjoyed it! Its a very large portion of lasagne for $ 8. I come here all the time for their plates during lunch. They serve food for dinner too but your choices will dwindle as the day goes on. And I feel like the food is freshest during lunch. They have different plates on the menu according to the day of the week.
