I liked their selection of pizzas, but I honestly thought that both of the slices I tried needed more salt/flavor. My husband agreed that his were the same. I’ll probably give them another try to see if it was just an off day, but I haven’t had a real desire to go back yet.

A Slice of New York is probably my favorite pizza spot. I love the ambience and I love the staff. They are all very hardworking, honest people. There’s usually plenty of parking available as well as seating inside. Oh, and did I mention the pizza is delicious?!

Yes, I’ve been to New York. Yes, I’ve had pizza from there. Is it the same here? No. But, pretty damn close. Pizza for me is like one of those foods, that you don’t care, where it’s from, what’s on it, what time of day it is, or who’s eating it with you, that you’ll still eat it. Honestly, whether it’s from A Slice of NY, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Patxi’s, Digiorno(It’s not delivery!), or the school cafeteria, I’ll eat it. Shoot, even if you put a plate of pizza rolls in front of me, it’ll be gone in 4 minutes flat. With that being said, ASONY is not Red Baron or Jenos. Not even Papa Johns or Little Caesars. While I will eat any pizza, ASONY makes some of the best version of pizza around, San Jose or anywhere else! A lot of pizza joints, New York or otherwise, will overload the toppings. This place puts just the right amount. The crust is perfect, too. It’s not crunchy or soggy. It has just the right amount of chewiness. My favorites are the Margherita and just a simple sausage slice. The other specialty flavors are good, too, but these are just my go-to’s. Also, don’t forget to pick up some garlic knots. While they are pre-made and then warmed up in the oven, the texture and flavor is that of that it was just made. You won’t even notice. Also, if you’re into Sicilian slices, they make a pretty mean one. Just don’t expect to eat another slice after eating just one. Compared to the location on Stevens Creek, this one is quite large. It has a bunch of tables in the middle of the room and seats and counters near the window. There’s also a seating area inside a mock subway car. They don’t deliver because they think the quality goes down when you take it home. But, they do take out and it seems to still taste good when I get home. If you want delivery, I do believe places like Door Dash or Order Ahead will do it for you. Lastly, if you like Drakes Cakes, they carry them here. It might be sold out from time to time, but at least they carry them. Same as fresh-made cannoli. Score!

Called the order in and they said it would be ready in 15 minutes. We arrived 20 minutes later, found it easy to park because it’s in a small shopping center, as soon as we got in line they called my name with my order. They let me go to the front of the line for payment. If you buy 2 slices at lunch you get a free soda. One of my favorite pizza places, always simple and consistently good. Great variety of pizza slices and friendly service!

Ordered a large combo pizza for pick up($ 35), ready after 20 minutes. I was a little sad it was cold by the time I got it home but still, it was delicious. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for pizza. The restaurant is nicely decorated as other Unilocalers have said. I’ve never been to NY but I liked the snap shots of NY life. The slices are huge and thin. Our pizza had a respectable amount of toppings, cheese, and sauce as well as a good crust to pizza ratio. I really want to try their cannoli next time. FYI the prices may be a little higher than others, but I thought it was worth it for the amount of food you get. This place is in a shopping center so there’s plenty of parking.

On a scale of 1 to 10 for giving it the old college try with a staff of slackers, I’d give it a 5. Uninspiring presentation that sort of reminds me of road kill for some of what they put on display, and the staff are just sort of so-so interested in your business, and do not seem to wear gloves when handling the food. So things like sticking their thumb in your food seems to be the norm? I have been here twice before, and the food was just Ok, and the service was the same, bordering on rude, as others have mentioned here. This time, I had 2 slices, both of which, according to the staff had been sitting there for more than 2 hours. When asked if that was Ok to serve after having it sit out that long, they said yes. Silly me. One of the slices was Ok, and the other was under-cooked, like doughy? I did not finish it because, quite frankly, it was awful, and I did not want to risk getting sick when I compare it to the low standards that they seem to have for their staff. Price-wise, not worth it. The overall impression here is that they do just enough to provide a reasonable service, and nothing more, since I think everyone assumes that it’s pretty hard to screw up pizza,(unless you’re a slacker) so why bother to avoid the impression of being a little divey. The most telling sign about this place is when they have the A/C cranked on cold nights, and the photos that they display of disgruntled customers, which seems to indicate that they have a knack for pissing people off at this location, which really doesn’t come as a big surprise. I think the staff find some sort of novelty with it, as if it’s some sort of unique distinction that should be held in high regard. Pizza My Heart is far better in terms of product and service. Same goes for Wholefoods Market. I wouldn’t recommend buying the stuff that they have on display because it looks sorta, ummm, old? And there’s no way to tell how long it’s been sitting there and whether or not the staff would actually care if you liked it or not, or if you got sick. And I’m not sure about ordering entire pizzas because I’m just not that adventurous when there are better options nearby. Advice to the owner: either get more interested in your business and your customers, or hang it up.

Not a bad alternative to get either a slice or a whole pie. I would lean towards Pizza My Heart due to the taste of their crust. Pricing is on par for the area. The bonus for them is the theme(NYC with a replica of a subway car no less) and cannolis! Yum!

We live across the street and decided to brave jaywalking(jay-sprinting for our lives) across el Camino after the gym. The décor is awesome. I felt a nice sense of connection to NYC in recognizing all the signs and metal parts from the subway. I feel inspired to bring in my defunct metro card to pin it up on the wall; they also have NYC traffic tickets. Awesome. A got two slices of pizza. Buffalo — real buffalo sauce and actually spicy unlike a lot of other places. Godfather was pepperoni and sausage. Delicious thin crust and huge foldable slices just like New York. As the menu mentioned the garlic«knots» are more a homage to the idea of a knot. They’re buns slathered with delicious garlic and pesto. I got the Stromboli but by the time it came out I’d already eaten half of A’s pizza in hunger so I was less excited. But talk about a beautiful perfect olive oil wash. I found it a little hard to manage while eating. Very onion-y and saucey, I think I personally preferred the pizza. I like that they serve everything really piping hot even if it means a wait. The cannoli is delicious and you can tell they don’t pre fill it and leave it sitting there for hours because the shell is still nice and crunchy. I’d skip the tiramisu next time and stick with cannoli. Last note — I’d be terrified to write a bad review of this place. They have a hilarious wall of shame of people they’ve banned for being rude or stealing tips/pepper shakers etc(!! Who are these people?!) but also people who think dominos or patxis is better. Good thing I like it enough to rate it well :) I like how present the owner is in the store — there are a lot of messages from Kirk explaining things like price increases or commitment to quality that give a rare transparency into the inner workings and experience of a local business. 0 New

THISIS A MUSTTRY! Iv had a lot of pizza in my life and this by far is top notch NY style pizza. If your in the area don’t waste your time looking anywhere else, this is the place you want to be. Very clean with a east coast atmosphere. As amazing as the pizza is the calzone is out of this world! Real deal calzone not like the other fake tasting types other places offer. If your from back east you’ll know what Drakes Cakes are… This is one of the only places in town you can get them(try a devil dog)

I tried this place with my family last night and it was really good! I had a slice of the pepperoni chorizo jalepeno. It was fresh, hot, and delicious . It reminded me of pizza my heart but way better quality. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The wall art and pictures were fun to look at also, there was a lot of ninja turtle posters and stickers and my 4 year old enjoyed looking at everything. I would make the drive from hayward to eat here any day.

My go to pizza place. This is pretty much the only pizza place I go to. Great selections, friendly staff, and reasonable prices. I come here all the time for lunch during work days. There is usually a line but it moves pretty fast. The one downside is that if you go during a very busy time, they might not have all the selections ready. Then you’ll have to wait for the toppings you want.

Solid Pizza. A large can feed four people with 2 generously sized slices. It was loaded with toppings and the staff were great.

Love the food, the ambiance, and the service here! Walking in, you notice that the restaurant is subway-themed. You go straight to the counter to order your pizza, which you can order by the slice or a whole pizza for take out or dine in. I’ve tried several of their slices, and the garlic knots are amazing! The staff here is also very friendly every time I’ve visited this place. If you’re conscious about oily-ness though, I suggest a few dabs on your pizza with a napkin before you dig in though, especially the pepperoni slices! :P Overall, amazinggg NY styled pizza slices!

I grew up in Palo Alto, and I haven’t been able to find NY-style pizza to compete with what they have in NYC until now. A Slice of New York is the real deal. I’m a picky pizza person; I’ve spent a lot of time in NY and always indulged in great pizza, calzones and canolis. Since I got hooked on the real deal, it’s hard to settle for anything less! A Slice of New York looks like exactly that — it’s got cool NY memorabilia all over the walls, and even a subway car with tables to eat on! Their pizzas are wonderful. Their canolis are to die for. They import the canoli cream from a great place on Long Island. It’s just like being there. Since I discovered A Slice of New York, I’m a very happy girl! I don’t live in NorCal anymore, but I visit whenever I’m in the Bay Area.

Hands down my favorite pizza place. Like ever. Didn’t know I even liked NY style pizza until I tried this and now I’m hooked. This place is so good I don’t even need to get any toppings and it’s incredible. I think the magic is in the dough and the baking. The place also has a lot of charm with it’s NY décor I personally don’t really like the garlic knots though.

Great place to grab a slightly-above average slice of pizza. I’m a very jaded pizza lover and I’ve had lots of za’ while I was living in the tri-state area; the pizza here is on point with ‘real’ pizza from New York but overall it’s not going to blow you away. However, being able to walk across the street to grab a slice? Really awesome :) I lived near this place for several years and was a regular customer. Interestingly, I recently have been eating it again AFTER having lived close to NYC pizza for two years. Overall, a great place to grab a couple slices near the border of Mountain View and Sunnyvale. The only drawback I see is the price per slice; slightly pricey for what you get but hey it’s silicon valley! There is a check in special for lunch too so be sure to do that.

Finally went in one of their locations. I’ve had their pizza before but on a take out basis. Still awesome pizza. Even better when you eat in. Love the décor. Super helpful staff. The ready made pizzas are a good way of getting what you want immediately and you can see what you’re ordering. It’s good for visual people like moi. Decision time is barely any time at all. Easy parking. Across from Bev Mo. I wish I can bring my favorite beer in.

This New Yorker needed comfort food after an otherwise stressful birthday in which lots of things went… Other than as planned ;) So, New York style pizza! Which this is. The taste is spot-on, as is the thinness of the crust and the way the cheese, sauce and bread meld together. My one teensy quibble is that the crust could be a bit chewier and floppier, but it is otherwise authentic. The folks are wonderful and friendly and I appreciated the free birthday cannoli(awww :) which tasted as spot-on as though it had emerged from the checkered tablecloths of Little Italy. I hope that there are plans afoot to bring back those Gino’s Italian Ices soon, as those are a fondly held memory from my childhood. I remember being horrified at realizing that most pizzerias outside of NYC didn’t have Italian Ices(or pizza sold by the slice, but that’s a rant for another day). The subway car dining room was a nice touch, as were the relics from actual old subway cars. The E train board from a train headed to the World Trade Center — Aww. And the metal benches and handholds, and graffiti pics, and subway maps… Definitely a taste of home. All in all, just what I needed to celebrate my special day!

My friends love pizza, and they were super happy that this place has gluten free pizza! That’s the only way we can have pizza for lunch together. They only offer one size which is about 10 inches. It’s a personal size pizza that’s about 4 small sizes which is probably equivalent to the 2 of the regular pizza slices. They don’t have any pre-made so they have to make it once you order. It takes about 10 minutes to make. For 2 toppings, I paid $ 12.00. They accept credit card, and they actually prefer it so they have less cash on hand. If you order 2 slices of pizza, you get a free soda app for $ 8. It’s not my favorite gluten free pizza spot but it was efficient, the service was good, and it’s affordable. Perfect for a lunch spot.
