My son just finished two weeks of Python programming camp with BASE camp, and he loved it. In his own words, «it’s coding, but fun». Unlike a lot of other camps that bill themselves as programming camp but actually teach very little real programming, BASE camp is for real. My son learned to write between 75 – 150 lines of code everyday and at the end of the two week session, was able to design a pretty neat game. He also really enjoyed the end of the week field trip to the Computer History Museum. The instructors are super nice and allow parents to drop off kids as early as 8am and pick up as late as 6pm at no extra cost. The camp fee is also lower than some of the other programming camps offered on college campuses. My son is already talking about going back to the next level of BASE camp next summer. The camp was held at King’s Academy in Sunnyvale this year, although the location may change next year, the program will stay the same.
