The best quality sundae soup you can find in SF. I always go here and enjoy nice food even tho I need to drive for 2 hrs. It is really worth it!!!

Come here if you like soon dae, also known as Korean blood sausage. I remember I was introduced to this restaurant about 10 years ago by my korean boss’ wife. It was so different but good and I remember coming to this place a couple of times. I forgot about this place for many years and until recently, I Unilocaled it and I found this restaurant again! Definitely come here for lunch for the soon dae guk; it will have other organ meats along with the blood sausage! YUM!!!

I used to study aboard in China and i got closed with students from South Korea, live with them for couple years and fall in love with their food, Today I got my korean soup craving, when i open the door i know this is the right place i want to be, soon dae guk is delicious and i also order samgyupsal kimchee bokem(one of my favorite dish), not many korean restaurant cook this. And they have it in their menu. I came with my 2yo daughter they so nice and friendly to her. I feel all the aunthenticity from this place. The people is nice and the food is delicious. This place became my one of my favorite today.

I was seriously blown away by EVERYTHING at this restaurant. I visited Korea last year, and my favorite dish EVER was Gamjatang. Gamjatang is a soupy dish, served in a hot pot, made with pork spine and potato with a spicy broth. I was so excited to discover that JangTu served this dish, and just had to try it. You guys… the Gamjatang at JangTu did NOT disappoint. So much depth of flavor in the broth… definitely on par with what I had in Korea. Note — this thing is MASSIVE. It says it serves 2 people, but realistically, it serves 3 – 4. Especially when you tack on an extra seafood pancake as an appetizer.(Do it– one of the best seafood pancakes I’ve ever had). Plus — the fried rice they make with the remaining broth in the hot pot is AMAZING too. They throw in seaweed and some pickled vegetables to finish off your meal. Make sure to save some room in your belly for it. The service was also AMAZING. Our waitress was unbelievably friendly and nice, and so considerate. She even laid an apron on our purses so they didn’t get splattered by the hot soup. The best! My only regret is I didn’t discover this place sooner.

Open late. Various Korean soups. Shared a soon dae guk(blood sausage soup), which was bland and didn’t have a lot of sausage but had a lot of other meat, and yuk gae gang(spicy beef and veggie soup). Liked the yuk gae gang better. In a strip mall. Didn’t go in but looks accessible. Jang tu means a place to eat at an old open market.

Gamja tang for two people was very good — taste and serving size. I like the numerous appetizer plates and the option for refills. Service and price are OK.

Best Sundae Gook place, and one of the best Korean restaurant I’ve ever tried in the Bay area. All the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the portions are big and generous. I definitely recommend the sundae gook, and their seafood pancake.

One of my favorite korean restaurants here. Soondae tastes like heaven here. Whenever we are here, we order the hotpot soondae with intestine. The dish never let me down. Intestine does not have any weird smell at all. If you guys want to try it, go for it The place makes me kind of home sick. Very small and cozy, packed with people and noise. Authentic korean food and place!!!

It’s been so cold lately that I’m always craving something soup-y. Decided to stop by here for lunch on a Saturday around 11:30 and it was surprisingly empty! But it filled up within a half hour so I guess if you want to avoid the wait, come before noon. The side dishes here are meh(with the exception of the tofu). Wasn’t a huge fan of the kimchi. I ordered the spicy beef soup. It wasn’t spicy at all, to be honest, but it was SOOILY. If you didn’t stir it every 30 seconds or so the soup would start to solidify at the top. It was kind of gross. There was definitely a lot of flavor, and the beef/veggies in the soup were good, but oh man the oil… At $ 12, I didn’t think it was worth the price. My bf got the regular beef soup(non-spicy version) and that one looked 10x better(A LOT cleaner), so if I go back I’d probably try that instead, or one of their larger hot pots that everyone seems to get here. 3-star rating just because besides the oil, the soup was pretty tasty. Service was also quite fast.

Busy Friday dinner time. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated, all for the famed sundae guk and combo sundae dish. This is what we can call grace under fire! Despite people lining up, the main hall waiting staff kept our banchan dishes well stocked, water glasses filled and with a smile as well so that we could finish our meal happy. It is a small cramped joint, not much room to wait around. And I wish that there were a better wait list system. But food is solid. And at least 1 waiting staff had customer service skill necessary to make a customer happy(I’m ‘the glass is half full’ kind of person.) I’m a fan!

Skjsdfjksdf JangTu. As soon as I ate their kimchi, I knew the food was good. Portions are huge, service is really nice and prices are relatively cheap. Came here on a Monday night and ordered the pork stew and blood sausage side dish. Super delicious, huge portions and total came to just under $ 50.

This place has been around for a while but remains an intimate spot for Koreans and anyone else who likes stews and soups that aren’t filled with tofu. They’re known for their soondae(blood sausage) items. You can get this on a plate with other innards and you can also get it in a soup(which I did). The broth is milky white and very comforting on a cold day. The iron-y taste was mild to me but it’ll depend on your sensitivity. There are tons of innards in the soup too, a generous amount that I could’ve done without. All I really wanted was the soondae and it felt like there were two huge links worth in there already! It’s very filling because noodles are a big component of the sausage. My husband and his friend shared a huge pot of gamja tang(pork bone broth) that costs about $ 32 and can feed between 2 – 4 people. You have the option to get white rice on the side while you eat it or fried rice at the end. If you get fried rice, leave a little bit of the broth, meat and veggies because they’ll mix it in with regular rice. That was the best part of this dish! The meat and broth itself were pretty mild so you can either add salt and the pepper mixture into it or dip your meat into that. Most of the panchan were pretty good. Some were very far in the fermentation process so it might be a bit sour but it complements the broths really well. Tons of people on a Friday night but there seemed to only be one wave for dinner. Service was very friendly.

A super legit Korean place. Often very busy and popular, and rightly so. All their plates are real Korean dishes — no americanized or cheaply made food. Just like how my mom would make it. 10⁄10 would satisfy my Korean food cravings here again

I’m new to the Bay Area but the soondae was very okay. Back in DC the soondae itself has more flavor and the soup tastes like it’s been stewing for much longer. Soup didn’t have the right flavor and the sausages taste store bought. All around just OK. Didn’t satisfy my craving for(soondae) at all.

Very good soondae restaurant in the Bay Area. It’s a little hidden away in an Indian supermarket/restaurant/other stores plaza area, so hopefully we can spread the word about this place. If you’re not used to soondae, it might be a little comfortable at first when you try the food, but if you’re open-minded about the food and just give it a taste and try it out, I think you’ll like it a lot.

Friendly-Family style restaurant. We had lunch here on Saturday at 12. By 1pm the whole restaurant is packed! We ordered the kimchi pork rib for 2, I say it’s more like for 4 people! It comes with the kimichi fried rice. The food here is spicy but it’s not extremely hot. Very traditional korean flavor. It’s a good change of pace from all the beef rib/korean BBQ

Came here to try out their lunch. I dropped my car off at detail plus for car wash so I’m on foot and this was the closest I can find. Service: 4 During lunch hours in a work week, the waitress are super busy. But they’re friendly Food: 3.5 I ordered the beef bulgogi and i felt the flavor being a little off compared to other Korean BBQ. They gave me 6 side dishes and they were pretty good. I feel this place is a 3.5 stars and would come again only if I drop my car off for wash.

The menu here has a lot of interesting stews that I don’t see in many Korean restaurants. It also didn’t feature a lot of classics like bi bim bap either. The bulgogi here was not that good. The beef was not seasoned enough and I also think it could have been cooked more. The side dishes were good. I liked the fish cake(oh daeng) and the greens doused in what appears to be sesame oil. Their iced barley tea(Ho ji cha) was pretty good.

Never been to Korea, never had real Korean street food made in the stalls/carts nor am I Korean. Jang tu and Jang su Jang may be close in the name, but they’re different in food! Jang tu is a certain area or style in Korea and it’s not your usual typical Korean food like pajeon, soondoobu, jabchae, etc. this place specializes in SOONDAE comfort food. don’t know what soondae is? think of the breakfast sausage Irish people eat. this may not be for people who like to explore new flavors since they serve other stuff too like pork liver, stomach and tongue. I think all the foreign meats are from the pig. there’s non organ dishes like jabchae, summer noodles and pajeon… I ordered the combo plate($ 10.99) which came out pretty fast. Had quite a bit of soondae, some stomach, liver and tongue. So unhealthy, but I just had to break my diet for this. The meats are bland, but there’s a dipping salt for the soondae and salty shrimp sauce for the others or whatever you want to dip it in. I bet if I was in Korea for whatever the reason, I’d easily gain weight just from eating at he food stalls. We don’t have that here in America aside from hot dogs in NY. I want something unique like what Korea or Brasil has.
