My family of three switched after choosing DeltaCare USADMO. We couldn’t keep our old dentist under that CaliforniaCare choice. Here are issues: 1) Dr. Lee’s exams indicated that my daughter had eight cavities on multiple sides of her teeth. His exam of me indicated I had two cavities. I am over 50 and have only one cavity in my whole life, and that was from a new dentist when I was a kid. We go to the dentist like clockwork every six months. Let’s say I had my doubts. 2) We paid a $ 55 copay each. But, under CaliforniaCare, I called Delta and confirmed there should be no copay. The pictures of the teeth that justified the copay, Delta said, should have been presented as optional. They are hoping I will get my money back. 3) I got paper copies of the location of my daughter’s cavities, paper copies of her X-rays. I feel we should have had the option of digital, film or downloads or these. Per Delta, it’s up to the doctor. 4) The Delta lady suggested I switch dentists because the receptionist/billing person was very unhappy with being contacted by Delta. Enough said. 5) My regular dentist of 20 plus years, whom I am paying out of pocket, found three cavities for my daughter and none for me. You decide for yourself if you want to replicate my experience. I am very sad to write these negative facts. Stick with dental insurance that costs more but you can keep your own dentist or pay them out of pocket and save the premiums.

My family has been going to Dr. Joon Ku Lee since my 3 kids were small and now two are in college. He has recently moved from Fremont Ave. to 500 E. Remington Dr. #26. I like that he has state of the art digital X-ray equipment and you can see your teeth enlarged on a tv screen. It is easy to see cavities, etc, for yourself. He takes a lot of pride at matching fillings to teeth color. He has an extensive background in orthodontics and went to school in Boston. His business, I believe, is called Boston Dental. His staff is especially friendly and skilled. We don’t like going to the dentist but Dr. Lee is quick and very skilled so at least we’re not there long!

Unilocaling for my mom since she doesn’t have an account herself: Irregardless of this dentists skill level, which has yet to be seen, this practice is an absolute sham. My mom had been a long-time patient of a very reputable dentist running his practice at Stanford University, and had always gotten very high marks for the health of her teeth over there. After switching jobs and getting stuck with a dismal dental insurance plan, she decided to give Dr. Lee Joon Ku a try. What a horrible mistake. He told her that her teeth were in horrible shape, and would require a deep cleaning. To top that, he said her flossing habits were overly vigorous and that she was damaging her teeth roots by the way she flossed. Mom immediately wrote this guy off as a crock since her teeth couldn’t possibly have degenerated to this point within only half a year, but she still wanted to get her teeth cleaned. Amazingly, this guy wouldn’t let her do a regular teeth cleaning! He said that his policy is to only do a deep cleaning for teeth in such a «condition» as hers, and he wanted to charge a steep price for it. At that point, my mom was pretty pissed off because when she first made the appointment with the receptionist, she had made it clear that she was going to come in for a regular cleaning. With no other options, she packed up and headed straight out the front door. Shortly afterwards, she made an appointment with her old dentist. Although not covered by her current insurance policy, she was willing to pay out of pocket after such a horrible experience. Lo and behold, the cleaning was done and the dentist gave her a great review on her teeth health. He agreed that the other dentist was a crock as well, haha. On top of a lying dentist, the receptionist was a equally horrible at her job. She was rude and snappy, and a menace to deal with. For some odd reason, she would only book appointments a month out despite their appointment books being empty(my mom saw as the receptionist flipped through the pages). Good to know that there aren’t many people lined up to get ripped off at this practice!
