This restaurant is closed and empty. So sad. They were evicted, but the sign’s still there. Wonder what will go in that space next. Someone really should take advantage of being right next to such a popular store(For Other Living Things) and lure in the traffic. Mi Rancho didn’t market themselves and I’m sure most people didn’t even know they were here.

Very sadly, this place has closed for good — there’s a sheriff’s eviction notice on the door. It’s a shame, because the food here was excellent and very cheap, and they had some great specialties — like their tortas and their delicious little Columbian-style empanadas — that you can’t get everywhere. Here’s hoping that we’ll get another high-quality restaurant in this space soon! Everyone in the neighborhood loved Mi Rancho, and I think another business in this location could be very successful if it were run well.

I miss coming here. I used to work walking distance to this place and would only get their tortas! They have the best tasting tortas anywhere I’ve ever eaten. It’s so flavorful and HUGE. For $ 6, you def. get your money’s worth. If it weren’t so far from my house I would eat here alllll the time. I’m sad to hear that they have closed down! =[

Unfortunately while walking by today, there’s a Sheriffs eviction notice on the door and a big«For Lease» sign in the window. As has been reported there’s a note on the door saying closed for maintenance.

Mi Rancho has been closed for several weeks now with a mysterious message about«maintainence issues» on the door and their website appears to be down as well. Que lastima!

I loved the tacos at this place — gourmet mini soft tacos at a great price, and with an amazing house salsa on free chips. Unfortunately, it seems to have closed. There’s been a sign on the door«closed for maintenance» for 3 weeks now, and no sign of life other than a stack of bills in the mailbox. And their phone doesn’t answer, it just goes to generic voicemail. Tis a pity. I hope they recover, but I don’t know how they could, given that they never seemed to have a lot of business even before this outage.

This spot, in my neighborhood, has housed several other restaurants but none with the potential of this one! We had tacos and they were totally yummy, The carnitas was perfect, loved the green salsa-not too much, very piquant. The beans were spicy and the rice was fluffy. Even the simple gren salad was good. The décor is modest but very clean and comfortable. The salsas and chips were not your run of the mill taqueria salsa. Perhaps they have worked out some of the kinks mentioned in the spring reviews. I see from other Unilocal reviews that the other cuisine here is Columbian. I will try some other items next time for sure, the empanadas and the tamales looked good.

I have been back to this place a few times, and each time they change how they make their tacos. Also, the keep removing items from their menu. I have to say yesterday was the worst experience I’ve had there. Not only did they not serve me a carnitas taco, I don’t even think it was pork. It tasted and looked more like beef, but there really was not a lot of flavor, and what’s worse is they tried to hide it by covering it with a ton of green chili cause. It was awful! I will never go back, it’s one thing to scale back your menu to save your self extra cost, but it is another to pretend to serve someone one meat for another. Yuck! I think I would have been fine with it if it had tasted good, but like I said Yuck!

Great local place. Fresh ingredients and excellent salsa. Only downside is no liquor license.

Nice to have a good mexican food restaurant in Sunnyvale. The fajitas were very good, the portions were generous, the chips and salsa superb. Too bad they don’t have a liquor license — but it’s a nice place for a family. Oh, the staff was also real friendly — we’ll be back.

I came purely because I read about their fantastic arepas on Chow — and they’re only served on WEEKENDS! Boo. The ONLY must-have: EMPANADA! This was beef & potato and was delicious. They got the crisp to the shell just right, and it’s so steamy, soft, and flavorful on the inside. I’ve had plenty of empanadas in my life, but I feel like I’ve never TRULY eaten an empanada until this one. Very nice. I also got the Taco Plate($ 6.953 Regular tacos w/rice, beans). Got the Chicken, Pulled Pork, & Mexican Sausage(ie chorizo). None were too spectacular; both pork tacos were too salty and too oily. They were all kind of soupy, if you know what I mean, with the chorizo sitting in a ton of sauce vs being many dry pieces. The chicken didn’t stand out too much. Also tried the Special chicken taco, which was larger and had more toppings. The chicken chunks were pretty tender and this was overall good.

Came in for a little snack after the bf stopped by the badminton store that’s a couple stores down in the same plaza. I actually live in San Diego CA(we’re doing a little road trip) so I live around hundreds of authentic GOOD Mexican food places and have tried quite a bunch, including places in Mexico as well… And I must say that this place is pretty up there along with the rest. We tried the carne asada and pollo tinga tacos as well as the empanada, all of which were quite scrumptious :) the carne asada was juicy and very tender, and I think they were topped with some pickled onions. The sauce on the chicken tinga was bombb. And the empanada… So moist, warm, and crispy… Loved it and the cilantro relish thing that came with it. There’s also a little area where you can self-serve free tortilla chips — score! I’m a huge sucker for chips. :) The place looks pretty new, and the décor slightly lacking but who cares; good food speaks for itself. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the area!

Not to sound like an elitist but i’m not sure why there are so many favorable reviews to such a sub par place. I ordered a chicken burrito and my fiancée ordered a 3 taco plate. My main complaint was that the shredded chicken was very very dry and so was my fiancees. If the cooks would have tasted a sample, they would have agreed 100% as well. The service seemed very discombobulated. I placed a phone order and they said 15 minutes. When I arrived on time, it wasn’t ready. It wasn’t a huge wait but when it’s not very busy, it makes me wonder how they handle business if it ever gets busy. I’m just used to to quick service at authentic taquerias even when it’s busy. The mild sauce had a weird taste. It’s very hard to explain but sort of too sweet at the beginning when it enters your palate. There are just too many other places to get good tacos, burritos etc that I’ll be going elsewhere.

Tacos are the bomb. Like, boom. Good chicken tinga. So good. And on weekends? Columbian Food! The Yuca and Chicacharon was tops. And, I think they have empanadas throughout the week. Yummmy. In spite of the delicious tacos, I’m disappointed we can’t have more latino food without combining it with Mexican food. I totally get it, and I’m glad they do both Columbian and Mexican so well. i just want some yuca during the week.

Tacos. Get ‘em. Eat ‘em. There’s other stuff on the menu. If you’re a fan of Mexico’s tacos, get the tacos. Tacos. Tacos. Tacos.

There are tons of Mexican joints in the area. Colombian places? I don’t think I know of another around here. Go straight to that fare… –Empanada — Beef and potato wrapped in a corn shell –Buñuelos — Cheese bread ball –Arepa con Chorizo — Grilled corncake with Colombian sausage All pretty darn tasty. They’re still fairly new so the kinks are completely worked out but they have interesting food and the space is large and clean

Really good Colombian Empanadas and Bandeja Paisa! Also their chips and salsa are bomb. The Salsa Mi Rancho was different than anything i had ever tasted! Really yummy! You have to come try the Colombian and maybe some Mexican too!

Pretty clean restaurant. The salsa bar had free radishes and the free chips were pretty good and tasted like they were made at the restaurant. Only thing I didn’t like is that they only had the choice between chicken and beef for meat(no carnitas yet).
