I’m not even sure where to begin… My first visit. I couldn’t get in at my usual place, so decided to try somewhere new. They had a $ 59.99 deal for a one hour massage and 20 minutes of steam/sauna time. I’d be doing the Unilocal!community a disservice not to review this place with a full blow-by-blow. When I called, I asked for the latest appointment possible and told the receptionist(Cindy) that I’d try to be there as early as possible, but I’d certainly be there by my appointment time. Early ended up being only 10 minutes early and as I pulled up I saw the receptionist scowl. Ooooohhhh… off to a great start!(I should note that I’d also gotten a call while driving over that went unanswered since I was… driving!) First she tells me that the 20 minute steam will be an extra $ 10. I explain that I’d seen the deal for first time customers and thought the steam was free this time. She replies, «Oh, you saw that.» I pay and am taken back to the steam/sauna space. She’s back to smiling and nice enough at this point. I had a nice steam and finished it off with a long, cool, rinse. I’m relaxed and things are looking good for Royal Massage and Spa. I don my robe and Cindy comes to show me to my room. I was told that there was no other room as I’m being shown where my massage is to take place — in the business’ locker room, LITERALLY.(This turned out to be something of a blessing, but we’ll get to that.) The staff’s personal lockers took up a quarter of the little room. Clearly this room is periodically used for overflow customers since there was a spot to hang my robe and such. The room was small enough that I actually shifted the table a little hoping that my masseuse would have enough room to get all around the table to get to me and give me a nice massage.(I guess I shouldn’t have worried. She(unceremoniously and without warning just shoved the table around when she needed space!!! Yikes. So, I got my massage in a glorified closet… but I’ll now remind everyone that I said this turned out to be a blessing! Sooo… Along side the lockers, initially covered by a towel, but my massage person uncovered the screen pretty early on(I was told her name is Yoyo). Why? I think she wanted a little entertainment. I didn’t have my glasses on and I’m thankful I didn’t because this was the display screen for all of the cameras in the establishment! The screen was divided into eight or ten small views of different areas and I’m guessing, MASSAGEROOMS! Hard to be positive without my glasses, but all of the feeds were live and there just aren’t that many things to camera if one doesn’t include the rooms. So, umm, yeah… The blessing??? At least **I** had privacy getting dressed and undressed since I was in the locker room. I hope the rest of you are ok with potentially(probably) being watched! Let’s talk about the massage… Actually, let’s not. I’m going to leave it at… my skin is still crawling and I ended it early.

Awesome facilities, clean and friendly rooms. Steam Room/Sauna included in hour massage and very relaxing. Thought I’d give it a try after seeing it in the Safeway shopping center and I was not disappointed. Friendly therapists, not the greatest massage ever but above average, hence the 4 not 5 stars.

I had a really bad experience here. My boyfriend and I got a couple’s massage, and the two were talking in another language the entire time. They didn’t seem to pay attention to us, weren’t respectful of boundaries(ie pulled the shit up for me to turn around without protecting my privacy and took my boyfriend’s boxers off from under the sheet – oh hell no). I was charged $ 20 extra to have our massage in the same room, was charged an extra $ 30 for the card, which seems weird because the charge was $ 140. We decided to leave without our complimentary steam room, because we were so uncomfortable about how we’d been treated, and the woman who did my boyfriend ran after him saying«Sir! Tip! Tip!» The woman at the front desk, who was unwelcoming and uninviting from the beginning, asked us how are massage was. We told her they talked the whole time, and she immediately turned around and started yelling at the two massage therapists in another language(who immediately yelled back). They also opened the door several times, some of which we were still changing and naked, left the door open so light was in my eyes during the massage, wouldn’t adjust the face placement to reduce the stress on my neck, and the relaxing background music ran out, which of course caused more talking. This place is cheap, but expensive. I immediately felt uncomfortable, and I only noticed men leaving there. The only worse massage I have ever had was from a man who wouldn’t stop talking about vibrators during the massage.

The message is alright if you get a good therapist. However they are very unprofessional. The masseuse told me, the minimum tip is20 $ before she began. So its 70 $ for the massage, 3 $ more if you pay by card, 20 $ for the compulsory tip and 3 $ more is you pay the tip at the end of the massage again by card. So thats 96 $ for a shady place. Hate it when people demand a particular amount of tip beforehand! Pressurising instead of relaxing! Shouldnt a tip be based on your experience?

Took the 60min. Swedish massage. Overall, massage was fine. At the end, the lady waited next to me as I was getting dressed and told me she’s waiting for a tip. I took out 10 $ from my wallet and she explained that she’s expecting a 20 $ tip. I felt really uncomfortable… She did massage me for the last hour… I didn’t have 20 $ so I gave my credit card and then she explained how she needs to charge me 25 $ because I’m paying with a credit card… What a rip-off! First time and last time there. Don’t get near this place!!!

I use this place once a month, and I have been happy with their massages. I can say that I have done a massage with almost everybody there, and they do a very good job. Although not all of them speak English, but if you are patient, you can explain what you exactly want and they will do it for you kindly. My favorite part is the bath afterward. It is so relaxing. The only tip I would tell them to do is to speak a bit quietly in the hallway, and maybe change the musics every often. The rest is great.

Illegal and inappropriate activity here. Stay away unless you want to be part of a bust!

My massage was a little too close for comfort. The masseuse actually pulled down my underwear to massage my lower back and butt. There’s a lot more I could say but I think you get the idea. I know they weren’t trying to be inappropriate but I prefer to go to a place that practices more modesty and respects my boundaries. I will say that they had good customer service and a nice steam/sauna room.

Royal Massage and Spa is in a shopping center near a Round Table and Safeway. It was built less than a year ago, so everything inside is new. The décor is quite attractive, not luxurious mind you, but attractive. The private massage rooms are also nicely decorated. Soothing music is piped into each room. They also boast a private steam room and sauna for your use, before or after your massage. I can honestly say the massage I received was one of the best I’ve had in my life. The masseuse gave me a massage for relaxation and to de-stress and I came out of there feeling refreshed. Incredibly soothing! The price was good too. They had a first time visitors special, steam room and 1 hour massage for $ 60. Great value. My one complaint, and the only reason this place doesn’t get 5 Stars, is it can get a bit noisy hearing people talk or hearing doors close while getting your massage. I will be going back.

I am not sure what others see in this place, but I was not happy with my experience. I have had many experienced, professional massages and this place is NOT on my list. I booked a couples massage(which they claim to do) but yet when we arrived they were not set up for this. After the steam and sauna, we had to gather up all our clothes and change rooms not once but three times. Usually, one gets a locker to leave clothes in but we had to carry our clothes where ever we went. When I booked the massage, I emphasized that I wanted only experienced personnel. Our massage personnel were NOT experienced and they did not speak English. This makes it pretty hard to communicate a request. The massage techniques were not professional. I had lots of knots around my shoulder blades and when I pointed to my shoulder blades(because the massage person could not understand what I was asking), she only pushed harder on my shoulder blade rather than work out the knot. I will never return to this place. Signed, Still steaming in Sunnyvale

My daughter and I were in a car accident and have been getting massages to help us recover. I found Royal Massage on Unilocal,so we thought we’d give it a try — it’s not far from where I live and it had great reviews. It’s in a Safeway mall and from the outside it doesn’t look too special, but once you are inside it is a lovely place, and the manager is extremely friendly and nice! I’ve had 2 massages there in the last 3 weeks, and both were well-done. The first was a Swedish massage, the second was a Deep Tissue massage. After each one, I used the sauna and steam room — a nice way to finish off the whole treatment! The only negative thing I can say is both the masseuses I’ve seen didn’t speak much English, so it can be tricky telling them what you want or don’t want, but they are very capable and strong, as well as trained in various types of massage. I really recommend this place — it is moderately priced for a full massage and the setting is clean, serene and and inviting! I can’t wait to go back!
