This is not a gourmet burger. The meat patty is thin and over seasoned. I received a coupon in the mail thinking lets get great hamburger. The end result was a salty burger with few condiments. If you are looking for a great burger, this is not the place. BTW, this is the second Smashburger and it tasted the same. Therefore, stay away from Smashburger.;

A friend and I went here because it is «the new burger place»(okay maybe not that new). We ordered two burgers and haystack onions. The burgers were okay. I guess if I want to get really fat I’d eat at The Counter. The haystack onions stuck out b/c they were inedible. Why? Salt. They tasted like salt. So we sent them back. The staff was great. The cook came out form behind the counter. He explained he added no salt and they come from Smashburger with that level of salt on them. He gave us fries instead b/c replacing the haystack onions made no sense. I’d give it a 1 for food being too salty but the staff being so pleasant gets it a 2. I have written 50 reviews. 3 are marked as inedible due to salt content(six percent) 2 locations of KFC and Smarshburger’s haystack onions

I’ve been there so many times over the short period that it’s been in this location. Their egg buns are fantastic, and they really make the whole burger taste better. Thin patties are very good. Honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Better than 5 guys, habit, and equal to in n out. also can’t forget about their milkshakes! Milkshakes are better than in n out! All fresh, real ice cream, and if you have them there, not to go, they’ll give you the extras in a cup on the side, so it’s like you get 2 milkshakes. The only negative is that it is somewhat expensive, but totally worth it!!!

Boo! Ordered the classic chicken burger, but it came out underseasoned. It was literally just a huge chunk of chicken breast between 2 hamburger buns. I could have made it myself. My friend ordered the same thing + fries, and her fries were oily and too garlic-y :( The only saving grace was that the service was great. One of the workers kept checking on my friend and I, asking if we enjoyed our meal. Probably won’t come back.

I can’t believe I’m actually Unilocaling a fast food joint. But I really feel the need! I started going here because of the convenient location and the great salad choices. When they first opened, they had some logistics issues with the cash register, timing of service, etc. as any other new business might experience. Well, they have pulled it together! The employees are incredibly friendly and efficient. The food is made fresh to order and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. I’m a health food snob and this place passes my stringent test. I order a salad with a burger patty on top… AWESOME! My kids get to order sweet potato fries and a huge milkshake made with Haagen-Daz ice cream! This establishment definitely deserve a strong five stars for service, friendliness, quality of food, variety of choices, and consistency.

I love their grilled chicken mushroom burger. Most of the time someone comes around to ask you about how your food is. Not today, this is the 2nd time I felt that they sprinkled more salt in one area of my sandwich and it was super salty. It’s good, just inconsistent.

I am a regular visitor to Smashburger at Elcamino real branch. I am allergic to wheat and Smashburger offers gluten free bun so this is one of my fav places for lunch. The only thing that makes me unhappy is the extra charge for a gluten free bun. I wish celiacs wouldn’t be punished for having wheat allergy. Overall I give 4 stars.

Disappointed. Ordered online for pick up. Ordered two burgers, fries and a shake. Fail #1 On burger one they failed to use the cheese and truffle mayo I requested, and smothered it in mustard. I asked for no mustard. Fail #2 Shake had whipped cream. I requested for no whipped cream. Fail #3 They did not give us the drink that came with our sons meal. Fail #4 Burgers were soggy and cold though they were ready at the specified time. The only positive is their Smash fries. Good flavor and crispy the way I like it. Parking for this location is also a nightmare. Located near a Trader Joes, restaurants and other small stores. All share a teeny tiny parking lot.

The food was great as usual(don’t forget to order a fried egg on your burger), but what really stuck out to me was that there was this old lady who came in and didn’t have enough money to buy a burger, and the manager from the kindness of his own heart bought her one. What a memorable experience!

This was a great place to stop for lunch! From the moment we walked in, to the moment we left, we had wonderful service! Fred greeted us with a smile and was very attentive to us while we were there! Definitely an A+ employee! Now for the food… One word! Delicious!!! I had the mushroom Swiss burger with smash fries, and my boyfriend had the bacon cheeseburger. The food came out quickly and tasted amazing! We will definitely be back!

Smashburger seems to be still getting into the rhythm of things. My first experience here was fantastic. I loved the way they brought the burger to the table, and how well it was presented. Delicious too! The next time I came in, it was around 9– one hour before closing. The guy at the register talked at a million miles an hour, to the point where I felt almost anxious ordering. He doesn’t seem to like his job much, based on the last few times I’ve visited. Anyways, when he brought the burger, the previous good experience was almost entirely forgotten. I ordered one of the avocado options, which, in this instance, looked thrown together, and included what I would call a portion of a slice of avocado. All other visits have been positive thus far, but wow, definitely don’t come in anywhere close to closing time.

Our table had several different things from their burger menu and what we eventually got looked nothing like the burger photos on their menu– everything skimpy and small. So small in fact, you’ll leave here as hungry as you came in. That at about $ 8 per burger. My friend got one of their specialty burgers and it looked like a McD’s cheeseburger. Fries were skinny and ho-hum. We went home and made dinner again. People were nice though but they are clueless as to the quality of their food. Cannot recommend.

I typically enjoy a good smash burger but my experience today really ruined a perfectly good lunch. My friend ordered a salad and all was well until he moved some lettuce around in his bowl only to find a USED napkin. We were unable to keep eating once we saw that. At least they refunded our money.

I’ve been a repeat customer ever since I went to redeem the Smashburger mailer for $ 5 off $ 12. I was under the impression that Smashburger was an overpriced fast-casual burger chain, but it’s really not. I had it confused with The Counter and Nom Burger. Derp. Obviously, if you order large burgers, large fries and made to order ice cream shakes, it’s going to cost you more than $ 15.00 per person. This isn’t In N Out or The Habit, but with careful ordering, you can get plenty of calories without having to spend a lot. Upsizing the burger patty will cost you an extra buck. BBQ Bacon Cheddar Smashburger Large Smashfries 3.49 22 oz Fountain Drink(In addition to soda, they offer three types of Honest Tea) 2.09 Total after tax $ 20.84 Build Your Own Burger Total after tax $ 10.42 Guilty pleasure? Definitely the crispy shoestring fries tossed in an addictive rosemary herb oil blend. I’d go to Smashburger purely for the fries. If you’re anyone that knows me, then you know I have a huge sweet tooth. The thing is… I’d rather have smashfries than dessert. Total life changer. Sometimes, there is a survey code at the bottom of the receipt. Complete the survey to receive free smashfries(with purchase of entrée)! I’ve tried a few of the burgers, but most times I build my own. I’ve asked for the bun to be extra toasted, but it’s not like they have a toaster oven, so the bun is still a bit soft. The burger secret seasoning blend is pretty tasty. Overall, good stuff. The staff at this location have been attentive and well-mannered. They stand at the register when they see someone walk in the door, ready to take food orders. They’ve been knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. The food is made to order, so it takes longer to prepare than fast food restaurants, plus the fixings come out careful arranged. While we were eating, they’d ask us about the food. Later, they’d come by to remove empty trays and let us know we were welcome to stay longer. The service is much better than the kind you might encounter at a white tablecloth fancy pants restaurants. Shock, right?! Parking sucks though. It’s like no one knows how to drive in a crowded lot shared with Trader Joe’s, Chipotle, Starbucks, PF Changs, Pasta Pomodoro and Nektar. If you’re short on time, you can still get your Smashburger fix. Order online for a Smash and Dash!

First off I’m going to say that for a fairly new place to be completely empty on a Saturday afternoon surprised me. Second I found out why. Overprice, fair food, c’mon it’s a burger not prime steak. I paid 32.00 + for two burgers, fries and two shakes. Am I crazy or is this highway robbery? Not going back, ever.

Just went here for the first time at lunch today and was not disappointed. We were thinking of a burger for lunch and one of the guys suggested smash burger as it was his go to spot lately. We made sure to get there early(around 11:40am) so that we can easily find parking. Like a few reviewers have said, the parking lot gets packed with several cars circling around waiting for a spot to open during lunch. We walked in and got into line. The décor reminded me that of chipotle but had big posters of their burgers on the wall. There were 3 people ahead of us but it moved quickly. Once I got to the counter, I was greeted by a friendly lady ready to take my order. Since this was my first time, I decided to just order something off of the menu without making any changes to it to see how the food was. I ordered the Big Bacon Cheeseburger with a regular order of Smashfries and a soda to dine in. I got my table number, filled my soda cup at the soda fountain area and sat down. The food came out rather quick. I had my hot burger and fries at my table within 5 minutes after sitting. The burger itself looked deceivingly small as the bun looked on the small side but after finishing it, it clearly wasnt a small burger. The burger came out perfect; a little bit of pink in the middle so every bite came out juicy and delicious. The bacon, which sat atom the cheddar cheese, was not too crispy and not too soggy. Paring that with the smash fries made for a delicious and enjoyable burger. Overall, this place is good and I can see why my buddy made this his go to burger spot near the office. I would highly suggest coming here if youre looking for a burger but just make sure to avoid the lunch rush in this parking lot(11:50am — 1:10pm). Something to note: if you’re on a diet or watching your caloric intake, you will want to customize the burgers. The big bacon cheesburger came out to 920 calories but you can definitely save some calories if you remove the extra butter they use and some of the other toppings.

Last night(10/23/2015) at 7:30PM, my wife and I went to Smashburger /Sunnyvale. My wife and I waited 15 minutes at the counter and nobody came to greet us or make any overture at greeting us. Another couple who had been«waiting even longer» than us, said they also received the same treatment. No one at the restaurant even acknowledged our presence or that of the other couple who was standing at the counter with us. In addition, all the tables were at the restaurant were dirty and covered with food remains that previous customers had left. While waiting, there was a customer who said he «cleaned his own table, and had been waiting 20 minutes for his order came out. When he got it, it was NOT what he ordered«and the food was cold». He asked for the manager and requested his money back. The manager complied and the couple left. Finally after waiting 15 minutes, seeing how dirty the place was, and witnessing the customer complaint, my wife and I left. This was my first(and last) visit to «Smashburger. Robert Norton

Great tasting burgers! Love the fried egg option on my burgers. Love the Smashfries! Parking can be challenging in this complex during peak meal hours though… Relatively small parking lot for a number of popular shops(PF Chang, Pasta Pomodoro, Chipotle, Starbucks, Trader Joes etc). This 2 blocks of El Camino has plenty of good burger options, including Smashburger, The Habit and Five Guys all in close proximity, different shopping complexes though. Smashburger remains my favorite. If only Shake Shack comes to town too!

I LOVE this place! I must say that it is probably my new favorite spot for good reasonably priced burgers. It makes me sad to see that this place only has 3 stars, because it really isn’t, at all. For me, I give it 5 stars, but I think the overall rating of this business and this location is a solid 4 – 4.5 stars. Their burgers are EXCELLENT! Juicy, tasty, delicious, and everything just works perfectly together! So far, I’ve tried the spicy Baja burger and the sin city burger, both SUPER yummy! I’ll be honest though, the spicy baja isn’t spicy enough for my taste, but for those who enjoy some spiciness, it’s probably perfect for you. But still, the burgerand its spiciness was enjoyable. As for the sin city burger, OMG love love love it! Healthy people avoid! If you enjoy food, and burgers especially, you will not be disappointed with this burger! Unfortunately, the sin city burger is only seasonal, so get it while you can! It’s got bacon, fried egg, cheese, and onion crisp on it! Other stuff too of course, but theses items being the most mouth watering. So yeah, their burgers do NOT dissapoint. Service: Suprisingly very very professional for a burger joint. Service that kind belongs in a fine dinning restaurant. Quick, knowledgeable, professional, and very nice, everything, you would want and expect when dinning anywhere! So yes, I would definitely be back and would recommend this place to anyone and everyone I know!

Very solid burger joint! Even though it’s fast food, they bring you your order AND they bus your trays for you. The waitress also took time to make sure everything was good. I ordered the classic smash burger and smash fries. The burger was delicious. Juicy patty and buns were soft and toasted well. The fresh veggies complemented the burger well and you can even ask for any other type of condiments that aren’t on the table. The fries are very thin, like In n out style. The smashfries are basically flavored with a lot of garlic and rosemary which gives ordinary fries a strong kick to them, it’s absolutely delicious! Rosemary usually has a pretty strong flavor, but you can tell they tried not too much to the point where it’s overpowering. The small size fries actually feel like a regular size since they give you so much. Overall, it’s very good. It’s hard to compare smashburger to in n out or red robin or five guys because they all have their pros and cons. It really depends on what you want to spend(In n out is cheapest), what kind of unique ‘specialty’ items you want(smash fries, bottomless fries, unlimited peanuts). But basically for thin crispy fries go with in n out or smashburger. For fatter fries, stick with red robin or five guys. Five guys gives double patty by default and a ton of sauces that’s loaded with flavor while you can stick with relatively clean flavor profiles with in n out. Smashburger has juicy pattys, red robin has a lot of different specialty types.

Food was not up to the normal smash burger quality I have had… First time at this branch, and probably the last. What killed it was the place was ransacked, dirty tables full of last customer’s waste, floors littered with food and unknown liquids, bathrooms thrashed, looked like a bunch a kids workin today. When asked who the manager on duty is, the kid was like«I am «I asked what happened here, he said we got hit hard with a rush. And thennnnnnn, when are you gonna clean it up? If this was a corporate visit, they would have failed miserably… I’ll spare you the pics but for one. Incredible how a business can be run in this manner… And nobody is held accountable. Sad And I like smashburger as a whole…

I got the bacon bbq burger which was pretty good, but not amazing. The smash fries had a little bit too much seasoning for my taste. The oreo shake was the only thing truly delicious during my meal. I came becauseI had a $ 5 off $ 12 coupon, but if I didn’t have the coupon I don’t think I would come back again. I would rather go to In-N-Out to get my burger and fries fix.

Decent burger. I got the buffalo blue cheese burger which has blue cheese crumbles and Frank’s RedHot sauce on it. The patties here are all«smashed» so they are flattened and thinner. Everything is fresh and they make your order on the spot(patties aren’t frozen). The burger is pretty tasty and fine, but not amazing or delicious or anything like lots of other burgers I’ve had. I also got the fried pickles and Frank’s RedHot fries. The fries are thin(similar to InnOut’s fries, but a little thinner) but they’re really oily. Dry spicy Frank’s RedHot seasoning is good and has a nice kick. The fried pickles were too oily and not crispy enough for my taste.

Three words. TRUFFLEMUSHROOMSWISS! It’s probably my favorite burger on the menu, but it’s a little on the lighter side. If you’re craving a hearty burger, I would recommend the bacon cheeseburger or the avocado club. You can also choose what size burger you’d like(regular or big), but regular fills me up just fine. Their burgers are tasty and juicy, but the oiliness level varies. The smash fries are a smash(get it! lol I’m lame), but I’ve received them nice and crispy as well as drenched in oil. so the occasional inconsistency is the only reason I docked off a star. I love their shakes too; you can never ever go wrong with oreo milkshakes! And for all you Reese’s lovers out there, they have Reese’s shakes too. The service is pretty quick, and you’ll find yourself sitting down for about 5 – 10 minutes before everything comes out unless the place is extremely packed. They also have outdoor and indoor seating. Overall, I love coming here!

Overall just really unimpressed by the entire experience. Service was just okay and the food could have definitely been better. I got the classic Smashburger, and it was nothing spectacular. I do like that you can get it on different types of buns though; I got mine on a pretzel bun and it was pretty decent. A friend of mine asked for hers without the bun and just wrapped in lettuce, like how In-N-Out does theirs protein-style, but when it came out, it was just a sad little patty on a piece of lettuce sitting on a giant plate. I also got the Sweet Potato Smashfries, which I was pretty excited about, since I looove my sweet potato fries. It had a unique taste because of the garlic, but once I got to the bottom, there was a just pool of oil sitting at the bottom of the basket, as if the cook didn’t strain the fries out of the oil it was cooking in and just dumped it into the tray. My friend got the regular Smashfries and she experienced the same thing. For how vast the selection of fancy ingredients on the menu looks, I was kind of disappointed that the food didn’t live up to my expectations. Not to say it was horrible, which it really wasn’t, but I was just hoping for more.

This Smash Burger is pretty good they are the same like every other one but the staff is pretty nice and they have a decent size dining in area … Fits 40 – 50 people. They usually have all my food out within 5 minutes. The best thing I always get is the BBQ, bacon, and Cheddar! OMFG that thing is heaven. I gave four stars because parking in that complex is hard to get. Very busy area!

Smashburger is only the latest in a long string of new hamburger chains to settle in the booming Silicon Valley. These days the in thing is new, as in new hamburgers and new hamburger chain products. It’s in the same shopping center as Chipotle, Starbucks, Pasta Promodoro, Trader Joes, and PF Changs. Within a half mile are the new guys on the block: Five Guys hamburgers, Habit Hamburgers, and In and Out hamburgers. Hundreds of parking spots, but hundreds of cars parked, and dozens circling like vultures, looking for openings The wife and I walk 11 minutes from our house to the shopping center, me in shorts with my smoky white, thin cross strap Birki sandals . Outdoor seating packed under sun umbrellas, with full size windows floor to ceiling. I go in, with the wife, and a birthday coupon for a free milk shake. Bright colored solid painted walls, with regular and high bar tables. Place is very clean, not only the tables, but the seats and floors. Didn’t use the bathrooms –I never use bathrooms for lunch, but prefer my workplace or home bathroom. Menu on the overheads above the cashier. The wife orders the $ 7 truffle mushroom burger, while I order my $ 7 make my own hamburger, with a beef patty, lettuce, tomato, raw onions, pickles with ketchup on an egg bun. Previously I had tried the regular smashburger, but didn’t care for the mustard based smashburger sauce. Also rosemary flavored fries were not my favorite. We ordered one fries, and one strawberry milk shake. The shake comes first, and is absolutely to die for. I would have ordered a second, but the wife and I would have required a second set of larger clothes, for a bulging waist line! The fries and burgers come within a few minutes of ordering. The fries are cold, and we get a free second order of fries, after complaining. Still too salty, but tasty as narrow thin fries. The hamburgers are flattened out from smashing on the kitchen counter, not on the floor with ones feet! Aside from looking like someone sat on them, they taste fine. Lean burger, with lots of flavor and juicy, not dried out. Large serving, leaves me smashed over –time for my afternoon nap! We get out of there for $ 17, with the lunch so filling that we didn’t need dinner, except for vegetables. Smashburger is good, but I still prefer In and Out hamburger first, and charcoal grilled Habit Hamburger second. Smashburger would be ahead of Five Guys, by way of superior fries. Unfortunately the wife wear the pants in the house, with me being relegated to thin white strappy sandals, when it comes to burgers. She hates the sauce In and Out hamburger, and is not thrilled with Habit Hamburger, so we may come back to Smashburger, flattened burger or not.

This place is fine, not a burger person, but love their salads . I am addicted to their truffle mayo, I guess I keep going back, even though the service seems slow at times . They’ve messed up my order and I didn’t know till I got all the way home, and it was a HUGE inconvenience to have to go back. What can I say, they forgot my truffle mayo, out of all things ! And I really like Edward, the guy who takes my order. He is very nice and knows what he’s doing, but the person who put together my order, has just needs to check things(like the difference between truffle mayo and ranch dressing) But anyhow they gave me a few free entrée coupons for the mixup . I am happy. Update … still love this place, but the bone in my chicken salad was a turn off. Hopefully it won’t happen again.

Smashburger =‘s yumminess! We don’t have a Smashburger where we live — if we did I would visit it often. This location is great! The place has a very cool ambiance to it — bright red and fun/flirty. The colors actually tease your taste buds(I think the red subconsciously reminds me of ketchup). The employee that took our order was super nice. They have a great menu(see pic) with burgers, chicken sammiches and«make your own» burger/sammich options with a great variety of sides & salads. I got the Buffalo Burger and my son got the Truffle Burger. I got fried pickles and he got fries. We both agreed that the food was super tasty and we would totally go again. The fried pickles were hands down the BEST fried pickles I’ve ever had. My son did say that his«large» burger could have been larger but that’s coming from a growing teenager. The total was $ 23.00 for both meals including 2 drinks. Not bad at all for such large portions on the sides. The thing I really loved that set the place apart from any other burger joint is that the meals were individually bagged and labeled rather than all shoved in one as is the norm.(See pic). 5 stars!!!

Smash and Dash is amazing at this location because the food is actually ready for the time you chose for pickup!!! What is Smash and Dash?!? ***We all know the long wait times during lunch at all Smashburger locations. Their online ordering called Smash and Dash allows you to place the order online, choose a time, and then come pick it up at your desired location*** Most locations have not lived up to the billing as I have ordered at other locations and to arrive at that specified time and my burger still isn’t ready. The whole point of having online ordering is so you can avoid the long wait times, as my girl Sweet Girl would say«Ain’t nobody got time for that» The Sunnyvale location is on point with their online order pickup! I’ve done it twice now at this location and both times the order has been ready when I got there. For people with busy work schedules lunch time is o-so limited! With the Smash and Dash service you can place your order online, pre-pay, and avoid the main ordering line but instead go straight to the pickup window side. Then once you have your order in hand, you can take it To-Go or Eat it there with Lonely Larry, whichever tickles your fancy mate!?! Also I love this location as if the inside gets too crowded they have an outdoor patio and you never have a problem finding parking which is always a big plus!

Sigh… 3.5÷5 stars… First, maybe the staff isn’t required to greet a customer when they walk into the restaurant, however, more established hamburger restaurants nearby make sure to say hello to every customer that walks through the front door(which is a good thing!). Second, once I actually placed my order, the food was brought out rather fast. It seemed like I waited maybe 3 minutes total to get my food, definitely under 5 minutes. I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. Anyway, the woman who brought my food was very kind and asked if I wanted any additional sauces to go along with my food, and when it was clear that I didn’t know which one to choose, she brought four different sauces to my table. The gentleman working the cash register was also very kind and helpful. Third, the smash fries… Jesus Christ! They were literally the worst fries I have ever tasted; at least in the last 10 years… The smash fries are thin and crispy, and they come with rosemary on them. I assume that I just received a bad batch because they were beyond salty. Since the fries were so thin, they didn’t have enough potato in the center to help mask the outside flavor; the sauces didn’t help. Luckily, I ordered an amazing Nutter Butter milkshake along with a bacon cheeseburger, both of which were delicious. It was the latter two items that saved the day. Overall, my time spent at Smashburger wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t amazing either. I most likely won’t be a return customer, mainly for the fact that there’s an In-N-Out Burger, Habit Burger, and Five Guys Burger within ½ a mile from Smashburger, and In-N-Out Burger + Habit Burger aren’t as expensive and taste better in my opinion. Even though my overall meal wasn’t amazing, I do recommend trying the burgers and milkshakes at least once. If you’re going to order fries, ask them to go light on the seasoning.
