Hate to say this but this place has gone downhill big time. I used to come here often but no more. We walked in at 10:40am when the sign says they open at 10am and they look at us like why so early, instead of a nice greeting. Also the«closed» sign was still on that side, the whole hour we were there they never flipped the sign around. The place looks so cluttered of little nick nacks covered in dust, yuck. The owners feel like they lost the love for keeping the place open and cooking. The place looks this way and the food tastes this way… Sad, with so many options near by they need to step it up.

I can’t wrap my head around why this place has 4 stars! My bf & I came in based on the Unilocal reviews and picture of the Burrito Jalapa. So we came around 2pm, it was completely dead. The place could’ve looked cleaner with it being so dead — some tables were dirty, giant stack of old newspapers and 20 empty bottles on top of the garbage can. We ordered 2 burrito jalapas with chicken & the hot sauce. We sat down and were brought chips & salsa. The chips tasted nice, but could’ve been served warm. The red salsa was good. Our burritos came out shortly after and looked good, but they were so bland. After lunch, my bf’s stomach was uneasy. Very dissatisfying lunch. Why people, why…:

This little hole-in-the-wall joint in a strip mall may not look like much from outside, but weeks later, we’re still talking about that amazing spicy salsa! We stopped by in the middle of the afternoon for a very late lunch and were just about the only customers in there. The small dining area only has a handful of rickety tables and booths, and it seems like a lot of people come in and get food to go. So don’t expect much in the way of ambience, just tasty tacos at good prices. Everything on the menu was under $ 10 and individual tacos were under $ 2 each, so we each tried a few different flavors. The al pastor was good but on the oily side. The pescado was tasty and had a good portion of fish. The asada was probably my favorite. While we waited for our tacos, they brought out a basket of chips and salsa — the mild(green) salsa was good and very cilantro-y, but the spicy(red) salsa was fantastic. Not crazy hot, but with a definite kick, and really fresh-tasting and flavorful! We were joking-not-joking about whether it was available to buy by the jar. The beans and rice were mysteriously expensive compared to everything else(guacamole was $ 1.75 but a side of beans was $ 3.40?), or else we would have tried those, too. They also serve burritos, tortas, tamales, and larger platters, but just the regular old tacos were pretty great. I’ll be sure to stop in again next time I’m in Sunnyvale!

Tacos here are legit. They’re the small, traditional size so get 3 if you’re going for lunch. On my visit I was so sad to hear they didn’t have any tamales-my usual go to no matter which mexican restaurant I had. No matter, they had the al pastor and cabeza so that made me happy. There was one order before me but for some reason my 2 taco order took 20 minutes to make. Whatever the case, the food came out amazing and was served by this sweet older lady who also brought me napkins since the table were out of them. My favorite was the cabeza-tender, flavorful, perfect and everything you could want out of a cabeza taco. The focus was on the meat, complemented by the crispy-seared soft corn tortilla and a light drizzle of green salsa and cilantro. The al pastor was good too, meat was tender and flavorful, but unfortunately my serving of meat was mostly fat so this detracted from the experience. Overall, I really recommend this hole in the wall taco place. Just be careful when parking, the lot is tiny and they share it with a chinese restaurant next door. However, I went around lunch time on a weekday and the lot was mostly empty.

gross. i can’t believe this place got so many good reviews. where do i start? while ordering i was talking to this woman who stood in front of a pile of papers and books that looked like it was painted with grease for the past 10 years. not a good sign. the agua fresca machines were empty so i asked if there was agua fresca and she walked to the back and then said ‘only horchata’. strange but ok. then i ordered the taquitos. she left again to check and said i could only have meat or chicken(not potato). was she checking the freezer? i hesitated but ordered chicken against my better judgement. the place was pretty empty. no one was in front of me. two people were eating. one had tacos the other a burrito. i waited for 20mins… walked back in staring at the«kitchen». no food was cooking. the only thing going on was the microwave and the fryer. didn’t smell any meat cooking. concerning… they called my order and i grabbed my food. i walked outside and immediately heard chef ramsey in the back of my mind yelling about a dirty freezer. kitchen nightmares has ruined me. i had a bite of my tasteless food and prayed that i didn’t just eat a 30day old taquito. i didn’t even take a sip of the horchata. i walked back in to toss my food and i had to navigate past the over flowing garbage can topped with over 20 bottles and cans. it was only 12pm, not like it was littered from the lunch rush. seriously, don’t come here. there are a million hole in the wall authentic mexican places in the area. you deserve better.(see my other reviews for better places).

I really like this place not only is the food awesome but the people who run this taqueria are very nice. It’s very small but it feels like its home, which to me is fine. But it’s the food I need to talk about. Their wet burrito is pretty awesome and filling. Nothing is overwhelming the other components. Their nachos jalapas are bomb three different types of cheeses and with carbe asada yum yum yum. I need to try the tacos next time its in their title so yeah. I wish that they did open late it would sweeten the stars of this place.

Can I get a HOO? Can I get a HAAAY? For the price, the taste, and the quantity of food you get, this place is perfect. I ordered three chicken tacos which came with a side of chips and salsa. On the taco there is chicken, cilantro, grilled onions and salsa. The taco is loaded and does overflow when you take a bite, but that is totally fine because you get to pick the goodies off the plate when you are wishing that you ordered three more tacos.

I really like the red sauce here that they give you with your chips, its garlicy, of course I would love it. I tried 4 of the standard taqueria taco meats: carne asada, al pastor, lengua and cabesa. I felt that they did the al pastor best out of the four but at the same time al pastor is my favorite meat, I am pretty critical about it too. I also ordered the flautas, it was fairly standard, option was chicken or beef, I told him to give me either or, I received the chicken. I didn’t think it was out of this world or anything, just standard. The owner was very friendly, I took a deep breathe of happiness after my meal, I would definitely come back again. Note: parking lot is shared with 3 or 4 other restaurants and somewhat small.

With only one person working the entire restaurant, it took a while to get our food. But everything else about Taco Jalapa is great. The(one) staff was friendly, the seating modest but easy and clean, and the parking adequate. And the tacos! Well-seasoned and not at all greasy. The carne asada and pollo were delicious, but the fish was my favorite. Next time I’ll get just the fish!

Yesterday, I was craving a good burrito, so I stopped here and ordered a chicken burrito. I was excited to visit since I had not been in a while. When I entered, the gentleman behind the counter was talking in Spanish to customers who were seated and watching a soccer match. Fine, but I was ready to order and had to wait patiently for them to finish talking before I could order. One of the things I like most about the burritos here is the crispy outside. After the burrito is wrapped, they cook the outside. When I got home to eat, my burrito was only crispy on one side. The other side was soft and juices were gushing out because the tortilla ripped on the uncooked side. What a sloppy mess. The only reason I’m not giving less stars is because I was able to reheat and eat the other half of my burrito today. So, I didn’t waste my money, but I am bumbed about this visit.

Really great mexican Taqueria I am really picky about my mexican food. Tacos Jalapa has some tastey sauces that come with my meal. I have already tried the Carne Asada Taco’s, Chicken Quesadilla. Smal Taqueria with a small parking lott. But do no let that stop you from trying I give them a A ++ on their menu.

I wanted to like this place since it’s owned and run by a family. Looks like a husband and wife team. Service was slow but understandable during lunch rush as two groups of local employees were ahead of me. I ordered the carne asada burrito and it took more than 25 mins. I was extremely disappointed with quality since the place is rated 4 stars. The burrito had a lot of fatty and non edible pieces of beef and the rest of the ingredients were OK. Needless to say I won’t be coming back. I gave them 2 and that is generous for my experience.

Our favorite burrito place. And street taco place. And taco salad place. We’ve been away from the area and have been longing to come back for just a taste. Upon walking in that nervous fidgity«this is going to be SOGOOD» feeling took over and the few minute wait for the food to arrive was almost unbearable. That first bite though was worth every delay and worthy of every nostalgic memory. There is just something perfect about the salsa verde, that balance of flavors is exactly what we’ve come to love. No jar or homemade recipe we’ve yet tried even comes close. BIG portion on the burrito, and big satisfaction from start to finish. It gets our blue ribbon and has for years, this place is consistently wonderful!

I’m waiting for my food so I haven’t even tried it and basing this review off of my experience ordering. Ew. A fly just landed on my arm. Ok. I ordered flautas. No flautas. The fryer is broken. I ask for a side of guacamole. Yup. Out of that too. I look at the agua fresca machines. Empty. I’m sad already. The reviews were promising, but my excitement has died. I’ve been waiting 15 minutes now for a burrito and tacos. :( There’s only one guy. He’s really nice and working super hard, so I feel bad writing this, but this is my experience. 3 stars — w the hope that the food is good(and not fly infested)
