Burst of flavor! Everything I ordered was so well-balanced and just pure delicious! I’d recommend the yellow curry and pad Thai! Amazing service too. They have this table with like a skylight make sure to sit there it’s just refreshing.

Two stars is for food, one star for ambience, two stars out for service. Basic tip of waiting tables: When you seat someone, you check on them if their food arrived, if they have everything they need and if the food is good. Don’t make them look for you, call out twice, wait on you to wait on them. My advice: take the food to go and skip the tip.

The tom yam soup was just about good. So was the yellow seafood curry. Service was not upto mark for sure. We were ‘forgotten’ for 15 mins before someone came to our table. Billing too took a long time. I have to try more Thai restaurants before I decide on a good one.

Tried Pad Thai Tofu, it was extra sour. I will try one more time.

Really good. I was on a anniversary dTe with my wife. And we where walking around the strip and we said we can always have pizza n burgers in the city. So we are here and it was very good. We had a very good waitress by the name Mark thank you.

Last Saturday I stopped at Thai Basil for lunch and I ordered«Yellow Sea» which is a combination of seafood in a yellow curry with coconut milk, yellow onions, and potatoes. The mix was fantastic and it consisted of a combination of mildly spicy yellow curry with seafood. Yet, the scallops were somewhat soft. I’m not sure if they are meant to be like that. If they are not, then I would say they were undercooked which can also be dangerous. The place is quiet and elegant. I have been at Thai Basil several years ago and it looks like they expanded. The servers were polite and friendly. I will definitely go again and try other things.

Vegetarian people need to be careful here! I ordered the tofu pad Thai. The dish tasted average. Towards the end of eating I observed a piece of shrimp in my dish. When I complained, the owner shrugged and said she would offer me a 10% discount and then walked away. Thankfully I’m not allergic to shell fish. I’m staying away from this restaurant.

I had a good lunch. The Cashew Chicken was good and had fresh peppers. Rice was typical. The side salad didn’t add much but I enjoyed the food. The serving isn’t huge but certainly adequate. Service was prompt and polite. Cost is very reasonable(lunch for $ 10, no drink, plus tax and tip).

4-12-201611:30am People rave about the food but I was turned off by all the flies everywhere. Maybe it’s the protein found in flies. Maybe it’s that the flies get to sample all the food and spices and then get mixed into your food for a special one of a kind meal every time you visit. I don’t know and will never know as I will not be eating here any time soon. Don’t believe me just look at the amount of flies at the front door window before you enter or better yet walk on the outside towards their kitchen and you will have no way to ignore the signs. Gross dead flies all over and the living flies enjoying the freedom to sample your food.

It’s okay, but not a standout compared to the numerous other Thai place in the area. It’s not particularly cheap and the portion sizes aren’t large. It doesn’t taste that special(not good or terribly bad, just average and unmemorable). The service is actually a bit subpar. I arrived on time and told them I was with a party of 4 under a reservation. They told me I was the first to arrive and waved to the back of the main room generally, and I think they told me I could sit wherever, but it was hard to understand them(both the hostess and the guy behind the bar who checked the reservation name and time in a notebook). I’m not sure reservations are a necessary exercise given the fact that the main room was never more than half full the entire time we were there on a Friday evening. The service is mediocre: plates came out at different intervals such that one of our party had to wait for a couple of minutes for her dish while the rest of us watched our food get cold, and my water glass was only refilled one time, even though we stuck around to chat and wait for a friend to finish her glass of wine. It was really hard to understand the hostess. This is not meant to sound racist or xenophobic, but her spoken communications with us consisted mostly of her repeating our comments back, but not in a way that convinced me she understood what she was saying. I think it was meant to convey understanding, but I was left feeling skeptical. This belief was somewhat validated when she came back to verify what one of our party had ordered and we had to repeat, «Yes, pad thai with chicken, NO shrimp.» And this was the same dish that took forever to come out of the kitchen. My pad see ew was okay but far too small in portion size compared to many other Thai restaurant $ 10 entrees, and it was also way too salty. I disliked the giant chunks of mostly raw garlic included, but at least it made it easy for me to pick out. I ate it all because I was starving today after an awful lunch experience at Bourbon Pub where we basically didn’t get to eat lunch, but I certainly don’t feel full of satiated. The sole redeeming factor to the meal was that they gave out those tamarind candies with the check. But even paying the check took 10 minutes. I’m not sure I’ll return when there are so many better Thai places not far away and so many other good food options to choose from in downtown Sunnyvale these days.

First time coming here around 2 pm. They rush everything as soon as you sit down. The chicken curry was average. Their chicken was dry and the curry taste like spicy coconut. The bamboo were hard. Also for brown rice is $ 1 more. In addition, they bring your check over before you are even half way done with your meal. I paid for my meal while I’m still eating it. The front desk lady seems annoyed when she speaks to you.

If you visit this place, you must try the Yellow Curry! Soooo delicious. Best I’ve ever had. The sauce is creamy, the potatoes are not overdone(like most places), the chicken is moist and flavorful. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! Also, their Pad See Hew is pretty good. Sweet and savory, very eggy just how I like it.

I haven’t been here in years, boy this place has expanded! I came here with some coworkers for lunch, between 1230-130 it was totally packed. After that it cleared out fast. They had both the lunch menu and the full menu to order from at lunch time. I opted for the Pad See Hew from the lunch menu with chicken as my protein. I was hoping for Drunken noodles but I didn’t see that on their menu. The Pad See Hew was good, but a little on the bland side. The lunch portions were perfectly sized and inexpensive. After tip my lunch bill only came to $ 12, not bad for a sit down restaurant.

I love this place for a quick lunch. Get here before noon for lunches. I try to get here by 11:50 and order right away(since I always get the same thing — Pad See Hew with chicken). By 12:15 there’s a wait outside the door(on weekdays).

I am regular at Thai Basil but never left any review for them. Last evening my wife placed a wrong dish for my son and they were so nice to replace it without a blink in their eyes. They did not even charge for it !! Food is usually great than thai places around. Service is awesone, all of them are wearing smiles all the time, listen to you nicely and give you enough space for dinner. I am taking one star off for ambiance. I will keep coming !!

No complaints. The Chicken Satay skewers were cooked well and the peanut sauce was in a ramekin on the side(plus!). The chicken pad see hew(odd spelling) was very good, but it’s pretty simple to a Thai place to make. Thai Basil is good for what it is, a simple Thai restaurant. They had paper tablecloths and provided crayons, which allowed the kids to keep themselves occupied while the food was being prepared. Plus! Service was excellent(not in my rating, just wanted to point it out). The Unilocal menu is wrong and doesn’t include chicken pad Thai or pad see hew, which are two of the more popular Thai orders. Their website is correct however… need to change the Unilocal menu(people look at it).

Didn’t have a terrible experience, but it wasn’t amazing either. The beef in green curry was tough and almost inedible. The duck, though I appreciated it being boneless, was minimal in the small plate of curry as well. All really small portions and nothing really amazed me. The coconut ice cream was almost like a sorbet, more icy than creamy. I wouldn’t come back here considering all the options in Sunnyvale.

Uck. I have had good Thai many times and this place didn’t compare on any level. The owners are incredibly sweet and attentive so it’s hard to give them a bad rating. Spring rolls were house made not frozen and they were OK. The vegetable dish was soaked in fish sauce and awful. The chicken dish was dry and boring. The seafood dish had fresh scallops but the sauce was not recognizable as Thai. The décor is old and stale and needs cleaned.

The food here is pretty solid, IMO. I’ve been a fan of their Chicken Pad Thai since as long as I can remember. The food may have been better before they moved to this Murphy location, but I’ve had very consistent delicious pad thai every time I stop by. I also like their panang curry. Nomsiess. I feel like the prices are really affordable for the area and they’re not skimpy on the portions either. Overall, I will continue to come back for their pad thai as long as its good to me! Hehe
