Springtree Rehabilitation & Health Care Center

Rehab was good, competent personnel and good equipment.
There were a few good CNA’s but the grave yard shift (11 – 7) is sparse and wait time for a patient to obtain help is excruciating.
Nurses are overburdened with patients but do the best that they can.
It was obvious that money was the motivator here and not patient comfort and care.
Investigate carefully before you admit your loved one here.

Stay far away from this Horrible Place! My father-​in-​law was brought there last night by ambulance, from a major hospital, still recovering from pneumonia. Not only were they non-​responsive to his needs, they neglected to give him his meds! This man is 94 and a diabetic, still with pneumonia. The response of the case worker was that the hospital neglected to send the script over to them. They do not take responsibility, when admitting patients, to get the correct information upon admitting. Can you believe this? My father-​n-​law could have died, and they could not care less! Well, we (the family) removed him from that facility immediately. They wanted us to sign papers, and we just kept on walking. DO NOT BRING A LOVED ONE TO THIS PLACE! Upon leaving, I was also informed of Elder Abuse, by another family member that has a long term-​care patient there. The County should do an investigation of this place, and I plan on taking further action.

If you take all of the unfriendliest people in South Florida that hate their jobs, you will find them at Springtree Rehabilitation Center. No one smiles, they do not want to carry on a conversation with you and they are extremely rude. Every time I have approached the desk to ask a question or speak to someone, they do not give you the courtesy of looking up from their computer to answer you. This is how they treat family, the way they treat the patients is awful. They do not care about their concerns and they certainly do not give their patients the attention and care that they need. Please do not ever send a family member to this facility.

I was extremely disappointed in the care my Father got at Springtree.

My 92 year old Mom with Dementia was placed here after a major surgery. A colostomy was performed on her. I was first impressed with the facility because it lacked that urine smell that I detected in so many other places. The front office that shows you around was very nice, professional, courteous and well informing. Anyway after she was there a week they tell me that she is not doing too well in rehab. I find out that the hospital had given a prescription for Xanax and percosets if needed. Because of her dementia she was unable to say whether or not she was in pain. All us family members were there as much as possible but we found out late at night she was given these medications to keep her sedated. Of course at this age you don’t snap back after taking strong pain killers. I find out she was in pain because of a bed sore she was developing while there. I happened to assist a CNA with her diaper changing and noticed it. I demanded the RN come in the room. She noticed how bad it was and was never informed from the CNA of this. She immediately put a special bandage and ointment and had her turned to the side. The next day an air mattress was brought in. If I didn’t say anything none of this action would of been taken. Her sore might of gotten better if they would of kept up with the special attention. She was left in her wheelchair for hours and wasn’t turned in the bed anymore. They completely ignored how bad it was getting. I kept calling case management about it and they told me the wound nurse had it under control. Like a fool I believed them and since it was covered each time I went, I never wanted to disturb the dressing. When I got her to the private assisted living facility I was appalled, and so were they, to see how bad this sore was. This poor thing has been out of there one week and only and can’t sit without being in pain. She gets up for one meal but has to stay in bed for two meals because it’s the only way it will heal. Thank God for the medical attention and TLC she is receiving now. How can two weeks in a rehab almost kill you? Did I mention she was dehydrated too? They took away her water because they didn’t have the common courteous to use the thicken powder they used on her liquids with meals, which wasn’t much to begin with. If she didn’t have family and friends who cared so much for her, things could be worse right now. I feel bad for other patients who aren’t so fortunate. I had to email the son of her roommate to inform him how his mom was crying out in pain. He had to hire a private nurse to oversee her care. He appreciated that I did this.
I would not recommend this facility at all !!! I do have to say there were a few nurses that actually cared. Very few compared to how many work there. Always passing the buck. My advice to them is to find a new profession. Don’t work with human beings or animals.

My Mother was a patient of Tamarac Rehab which is owned and operated by the same corporation as Springtee Rehab, Nuvision Management of Fort Lauderdale Fl. Three years ago my Mother was in the Tamarac facility and left with a balance of under $ 300.00 unbeknownst to anyone, in they were sending the invoice to an incorrect address. When she needed care again for a broken hip she was refused admittance until the bill was paid in full. I understood in that they are there to make money. Once again she needed care for yet another fracture, and was refused a bed a Springtree due to the same $ 300.00 which I had paid two years prior. Once I had found the cancelled check and made our way to speak to a VERY RUDE Vivian Curtis who is the admitting person a Springtree Rehab, I was then told they would not have a bed for one or two days. I really wanted her admitted since the hospital (Western Regional) had to discharge her on a late Friday afternoon, and I thought Springtree rehab, is right next to her home Emeritus at Springtree a wonderful ALS, so her care takers could visit her. I called a Keith Kruger an executive of Nuvision to tell him of my problem. He was most kind and polite, and told me that he would speak to Vivian Logan the Director of Springtee and I should call her back. When I did I was told that they really did not have a bed for what she called «A CONFUSED PERSON»! She was as rude as her assistant. I then called back to Tamarac out of total desperation, where they agreed to take her, however once again the MONEY was the only interest. I was told that I would need to pay $ 800.00 in advance. which is what the insurance company was not paying due to her deduct able. It was Friday late afternoon and my my Mothers friend who helps to write checks and take care of her financial needs, did not have the money in her account. I stated that I could wire the money but it would not be their until Monday or we could give them my Mother’s check however it to would not be able to be cashed until Monday when I transferred the funds. Again they refused… cash up front only! Please keep in mind that I live in the West Coast and was unable to be there at the time. What a deplorable disgrace these people are. I only hope that the people that I had this most disgraceful and repugnant actions with enjoy the same treatment for their parents or loved ones.
The lack of humanity is appalling and I would imagine would speak for their care.
